EP: 7 "Almost Candy Time”

This is the Fairview, TN News from Oct 22nd- 29th 2025.

Welcome to Episode 7 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here in Fairview, for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas.  This is a weekly show, released every Wednesday, featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire.  Local Radio stations don’t exist in small towns like ours, so we will use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview.  This is a Value for Value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value you receive.  This concept was founded by the PodFather himself, Adam Curry, and his Co-host, John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show, almost 18 years ago.

Currently, this is a one-man operation, so if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, or job openings, please don't hesitate to let me know.  You are a producer of this show; you are not the product, because your time and attention are not being sold to advertisers for value.  Some shows will be longer, others shorter, but I will do my best to keep things relevant.  This was the first episode in which a Commissioner, a Youth Activity Leader, and a Citizen reached out to ask for stories and ask questions. I appreciate your support.

Traffic Time

Normal Busy, Cumberland, and 100 have been better for sure. There will be more closures, and we will see how things go because they are not giving us a plan; they are just telling us a week in advance, at most. There will likely be some more grading and drainage work to make the turn lane into Cumberland from 100, so we will see how those closures go throughout the week. They are having to build culverts on the East- and westbound sides to widen the road, along with some mini-bridges.

Redlight Update – We currently still have three (Old Cox, Publix, & Walmart). Still, we will soon be getting one at the new City Center Entrance and at the Cumberland and 100 intersection when that expansion occurs. I’m not sure how it will help or hurt yet, but I hope the crossing guard can control it during the morning and evening school rush.

City Center – There will still be some construction closures here and there.

Future Projects – I still need to learn more about this project because I don't know what the costs of these sidewalks will be, and I want to understand whether it will be worth it when the dust settles and the road gets widened, only to have them torn up and replaced again.  I know we are stuck in a loop where we are not big enough to expand.

Widening Projects

It’s been going on a while, since 2018, for some of the requests to TDOT, but below are some of the links to the TDOT projects, and more importantly, the GNRC, which shows  how much money things are

TIP Project #2023-69-902: City of Fairview 3R Improvement Program (Grouping) (954k)

This one doesn’t show up when searching Fairview as a keyword, but this is what’s funding our widening from 840 to 54 Million and it looks like we have just 2.4 million of the required funds so it will be a while.

City News

Commissioner Update – The Health Department, which is open across from the Elementary school and has recently been renovated, is ready to help.  They have a stock of vaccines if needed, as well as other medical services. Please go and check them out.

Fall news started on November 4th. Fairview Public Works will begin leaf pickup.  Leaves must be placed in biodegradable bags and placed curbside.  If you don’t have the right bags, you can get them at the Planning and Codes Department, between the Masonic Lodge and the Fire Department, as you enter Bowie Park. https://www.fairview-tn.org/depts-services/public-works/

The Fairview Police Department Shop with A Cop Applications are still open. Applications can be picked up at the Fairview Police Department starting today, 8 am to 4 pm. Applications must be completed in full, along with the participant information form for each child, and returned no later than 4 pm on November 14th.  We continue to give thanks to our community and local businesses for their support of this cause throughout the year through fundraising and donations.  Donations can be made at any time as we continue preparing for this year’s and next year's programs. Donations can be dropped off at City Hall, the Police Department, or mailed to the City of Fairview, P.O. Box 69, Fairview, TN 37062.

Board of Zoning Appeals

  1. No Meetings

Planning Commission

  1. No Meetings (Last one on 10-14 was a big one, 183 Homes Approved)

Board of Commissioners

  1. The Board of Commissioners on October 16th was about (City Reports, Thoroughfare plan Approval, Historical Village + Farmers Market Approval). Check out Episode 6 for the full rundown. October is the last month for Chipper Service.

Board of Commissioners Town Hall

  1. Recap 10-28-25
  2. 1 x Public Comment
    1. She talked about the Farmers Market and asked details on the appraisal, grant, the process, price, power, and other items related to that project, but their responses were not detailed. She also talked about her water experience getting a 2nd meter and about the price raises from WADC.
    2. Gentlemen asked whether they ever turn people down for rezoning. Mayor Anderson said, “all the time.” He wondered about the rezoning from two meetings ago: how it came in as RS40 and was also rezoned to RS10 in the same meeting.  Chris and Lisa talked about how, by default, things come in at RS40, and the builder needed RS10 because of the land, which has a good amount of unbuildable area.  Talked about a lot of dump trucks on Glen Haven Dr to Dogwood, and there isn’t a way to stop them.
  3. Mayor – Lisa Anderson
    1. Responded to many of the questions.
    2. Asked about the Theater because the High School and the Fairview Community Theater both have shows next weekend.
    3. Fairview Community Theater’s play “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” is about to start on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of this month. https://www.facebook.com/FCTReservations/ https://www.fairviewcommunitytheater.com/
  4. Vice Mayor - Chris McDonald
    1. Talked about voting for the game of the week. https://www.tennesseetitans.com/community/fireball-fridays?fbclid=IwY2xjawNtngBleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETExbFFSeG90UlBiVTR0cEh1AR5GJnCwT_DimBKB_xDxWUeyaaCQYgWDsqHpggzX2km7nL4AqXEMBTg2KNgoIQ_aem_Sffh-RDhVToSFYaBdMmL8w
    2. Thursday night’s regional championship game at the High School.
    3. Titans Cheer will be doing their routine during halftime.
    4. Two Weeks out for the TPUDC Zoning work, and we may have to push the workshop out if they don’t get it done in time.
    5. Timeline questions on the Welcome to Fairview Sign: No New News yet.
  5. Commissioner - Carolyn Roberts
    1. Talked about the Fairview High School “Rumors”, which is on November 6th, 7th, and 8th at 7 PM and 2 PM on the 8th
    2. https://www.onthestage.tickets/show/fairview-high-school1/68a726cdc531c41006453777
    3. Asked about the Veterans recognition this year, Mayor Anderson said they are not having it.
  6. Commissioner - Don Bufalini
    1. First Baptist is having its Trunk or Treat, and One Church is having its OCH Fest (Food and Carnival) tonight on the 29th.
    2. Fall Forward is this weekend; fix your clocks.
    3. Congrats to the Franklin winners for the Wards.
    4. Don’t have the meeting notes by TPUDC from the Sep 29th meeting; they will reach out.
    5. When a subdivision comes up, who is responsible for the City Lights power? Mayor Anderson, if they are city-owned roads, we pay the bill; if the builder owns them, the HOA or the Builder would be responsible.  Talked about an HOA fee increase due to the cost of streetlight power under the developer, not the HOA, yet others have asked about it.
  7. Commissioner – Wayne Hall
    1. Mentioned voting more than once for the team, and how he talked with a former representative, and how things are going well with the city.

The State of TN (Not In Order)

  1. The Memphis National Guard is still doing things, with some reports of over 1,000 arrests.
  2. The Memphis School Board is working on a bill that would allow recall of elected leaders (Mayors, County Commissioners, School Board Members, and others). Bill 1448.
  3. Former Representative Robin Smith was sentenced to 8 months in federal prison for her role in a corruption conspiracy charge. This doesn’t make national news, but I think it’s good that accountability is working.
  4. TN DOE releases 2024-2025 Graduation Rate Data at 92.3% from 92.1% last year. https://www.tn.gov/education/news/2025/10/27/tdoe-releases-2024-25-graduation-rate-data-.html
  5. December 2 will be the final special election for the 7th District US House Seat, with Aftyn Behn for the Democrats and Matt Van Epps for the Republicans, based on the primary results. More news of them going back and forth now for this potential seat in a couple of weeks.
  6. Music City Loop is still digging and starting to make a real hole that requires shoring up since it’s deep and wide enough now on the downtown side. City Council is reporting a significant lack of transparency regarding the project running through their districts, as it was approved at the state level rather than at the Metro level.
  7. Airport released a video about a new Terminal Two, which will have around 70 more gates on 300 acres south of the airport and is scheduled to start around 2038. https://www.wsmv.com/2025/10/27/nashville-airport-announces-plans-double-size-with-new-terminal/

How’s the hill, weather report https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/bc6282b3595b1a4ff815e18e0d5c6b3c6520d04bb18514d09e9b9feeaf487412

Back to it, How’s the hill?  Passable. Fall is rocking; runny noses are abundant, with low temperatures in the high 30s to 40s, and highs around the 50s to 60s.  The weather gurus are expecting some Rain heading our way this coming weekend.

New Businesses

Nothing New was spotted.  Ace Hardware is still brewing.  There is still an open slot at Publix in Bowie Commons.  Other than that, I spotted nothing new this week, and I'm waiting to see what else is coming.

Farmers Market

Make sure to head to the Farmers Market every Saturday Morning, 8 AM to 12 PM (Not Earlier, as other posts have posted) at Meseck Chiropractor and Fairview Fresh Deli for their life-changing Apple Fritters, located down the road from Publix.  So many good places to get local beef and pork, breads and treats, local fruits and vegetables, along with some hot sauce, fishing lures, and other holiday gifts this time of the year.

History Nugget

Sullivan Road - Name Origin

The Sullivan family is attached to Triangle School, which was built on a triangular-shaped lot in 1939. The first principal was Nelle Walker Sullivan, and three other Sullivans — Vella Sullivan Pegram, Madeline Sullivan Wallace, and Othel Sullivan – were other notable teachers there. Nelle Walker Sullivan taught at the school for 50 years.

Upcoming Events

Recap

Recap – Trunk or Treat Bowie Park on October 25th – Great Success, lots of kids, candy, businesses, and families out there.  Awesome Costumes!  My favorite was the Iccee kid and Joe Dirt. I think Spider-Man, Mario, Wednesday, and Paw Patrol characters won in volume.  I think there were fewer people this year, but I think that was because more events were going on that Saturday, with so many trunk-or-treats at churches, businesses, the school, and the city.

Recap – Middle Tennessee Veterans Coalition on October 21st – Had an ok turnout, and the VA was there, which was good to see since I thought they might not come because of the shutdown.

For the Kids

There are tons of activities and sports in Fairview to keep your kids engaged.  There is a thriving Girl Scout and Scouts BSA Programs in Fairview. There are many recreation and travel teams.  There is also LaLa’s Dance Studio and Elevate Gymnastics and Cheer.  There is also an excellent Taekwondo and Jujitsu school that teaches more than just moves, called Vigilance Martial Arts.  We also have a great wrestling program with some summer options.

Jacket News – Big Football game on October 30th against Waverly, which will be the region six championship. There will also be a fun halftime show, so come out to the game and support Fairview at home (On Demand - https://www.williamsoncounty-tn.gov/629/On-Demand ).  Congrats to the Boys and Girls Cross Country Team for qualifying for the State Championship next week in Memphis, thanks to Coach Jess and Coach Pett for all you do.  This week was Red Ribbon Week with Tie Dye Monday for Peace out to Drugs, then Black, Pajamas, Hawaiian, Rhyme without Reason, and then camo on Friday.  The annual Pumpkin Patch has started and will continue until October 31st, which will be at Apex Bank from 9AM-9PM each day, and this will help fund the FHS Athletic Committee for upcoming activities.  The Fall market is on November 15th from 9 AM to 3 PM. This is a great place to do your Christmas shopping, just like our weekly only Farmers Market, to support local businesses.  Every Friday this School year, Kona Ice and Tom’s Coffee will be there at lunch time.  Senior Portraits and Senior Ads are due by November 21, 2025.  November 21st is Career Day.  ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is scheduled for December 9th at 8 AM in the Learning Lab. If you are thinking about joining the military, this is a must-have, and this score will determine what jobs you can pick from at each branch. Looks like the High School bowling team is rolling with practices on Nov 13th and 20th, and you will be making some trips to Thunder Alley in Dickson to get your Roll on!  Congratulations to the High School Sound of Gold  for winning 1st Place Band, 1st Place Percussion, 2nd Place Color guard, 2nd Place Field Commander, 3rd Place Overall Score (First time for Fairview) at the Forrest School competition in Chapel Hill. The Construction and Agricultural Classes are rocking and rolling, so keep an eye out for Hunting Blinds and Dog Houses.  The Ag class is growing things away and getting ready for some of the FFA events.   They will also have an NASP Archery Team under the ROTC Team.  If you have a student who is going to start driving this year, you need to email the Principal to get the Schoology link to take the “Checkpoints Driver Training” (Don’t forget their parking pass, which is $15.00 per year.)

Faith Moment

Here are three quick clips that came up this week and may be relevant to many married couples.  This first one talks about how, when the kids become the center of the marriage instead of god and each other, you may be setting up a time bomb for when the kids move out, which is why many divorces happen at 20-25 years, not 7-15.

Welcome back. The next quick one is also about marriage and how women need to help support their husbands.

This was another good one about marriage, about how some things can make a blueprint for divorce.  These four things need to be agreed on: Faith, Money, Parenting, Extended Family, getting good at forgiveness, and to keep dating.

Welcome back. I know that was different, but I hope this helps some couples out there.

Donations

On the Donations front, nothing new from Fountain.  We will have other payment options soon, just waiting for the tax man stuff to finish. We covered Fountain and Stripe Setup in the last episode, so a Donate button lets you use your Credit Card and other Payment methods through Stripe.

A monthly Supporter option is available for just $3.50.  If you haven’t seen the website, please take a look. A lot has been added since last week, and I think you will find it helpful, including the calendar, Church and Business List, and more.  We will announce your first name or business name if you become a monthly supporter or make a donation of $19.59 or more, unless you include a note stating not to be anonymous (e.g., 'The year we were incorporated').  I hope some business people will support this to make it even better!  Be a producer, subscribe, and share with others about this Podcast to help get the news out to everyone in Fairview.  I need to catch up on social media things to get the word out, but I’m trying to get the website and payments sorted first.

Thank You

If you have found this podcast helpful, thank you.  Please support the show with your time, talents, or treasure.  If you have an idea or suggestion, please share it with us. You are a producer of this show.  Talent, if you have the skills to help the show and help Fairview, let us know.  Treasure, you are receiving this product for free, without paid advertisements. You are getting truly local news, and if that’s worth something, please consider supporting us financially using a value-for-value system so that we can do more.

Please Follow Us on Social Media and at hellofairview.fm. A lot more things are coming.

1
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:07,960
Howdy, and welcome to Episode 7 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here in Fairview

2
00:00:07,960 --> 00:00:10,520
for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas.

3
00:00:11,080 --> 00:00:16,000
This is a weekly show released every Wednesday featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire.

4
00:00:16,720 --> 00:00:21,460
Local radio stations don't exist in small towns like ours or even our newspaper, so we

5
00:00:21,460 --> 00:00:24,880
use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview.

6
00:00:24,880 --> 00:00:29,760
This is a value for value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value

7
00:00:29,760 --> 00:00:35,580
you receive? This concept was founded by the podfather himself, Adam Curry, and his co-host

8
00:00:35,580 --> 00:00:41,440
John C. Dvorak from the No Agenda Show almost 18 years ago. Currently, this is just a one-man

9
00:00:41,440 --> 00:00:47,260
operation. If you have any other ideas, events, business opportunities, job openings, don't hesitate

10
00:00:47,260 --> 00:00:51,740
to let me know. You are a producer of the show. You are not a product because your time and

11
00:00:51,740 --> 00:00:57,300
attention are not being sold for advertisers for value. Some shows will be longer, some short

12
00:00:57,300 --> 00:01:00,420
Shows will be shorter, but I'll do my best to keep things relevant.

13
00:01:01,440 --> 00:01:16,860
This was the first episode in which a commissioner reached out and a youth activity leader and a citizen even reached out about some stuff that they had heard on the show and wanted to make sure that we had called out.

14
00:01:16,980 --> 00:01:20,340
So that was pretty cool to have happened for the first time.

15
00:01:21,200 --> 00:01:21,540
All right.

16
00:01:21,620 --> 00:01:22,300
Traffic time.

17
00:01:22,300 --> 00:01:29,080
uh normal busy cumberland 100 have been much better as school has been cooking along here so

18
00:01:29,080 --> 00:01:33,020
that's been great uh they're still going to continue to be more closures there was a post

19
00:01:33,020 --> 00:01:38,260
from the fairview uh city page that was also posted from fairview or from dixon and from

20
00:01:38,260 --> 00:01:43,520
another person at fairview then and now which listed a bunch of things related to our area on

21
00:01:43,520 --> 00:01:48,280
the west side but really i mean there wasn't really any new details that we hadn't really heard

22
00:01:48,280 --> 00:01:55,100
so we'll have to keep watching that red lights we still got three one at old cox publics and walmart

23
00:01:55,100 --> 00:02:01,360
soon we'll get one at city city city center entrance i guess maybe once they get the road

24
00:02:01,360 --> 00:02:06,100
paved and maybe a couple things built in there but the poles are all up and then cumberland and

25
00:02:06,100 --> 00:02:10,920
100 there'll be another one there so we'll see how that goes if it's going to hurt or help traffic as

26
00:02:10,920 --> 00:02:18,220
it is so we'll go from there future projects i'm still always on the hunt to learn more about the

27
00:02:18,220 --> 00:02:26,260
projects and TDOT and how they are working for us or against us on Highway 100. And so we got

28
00:02:26,260 --> 00:02:30,480
someone to reach out this week that gave us some new links that are going to be in the show notes.

29
00:02:30,880 --> 00:02:35,960
And when it comes to the widening project on Highway 100, this has been around since 2018.

30
00:02:36,860 --> 00:02:42,800
And so this is not a new request, but there are some links below here that tell you about the TDOT

31
00:02:42,800 --> 00:02:49,080
project, but more importantly, the GNRC, which actually shows you how much money is being spent

32
00:02:49,080 --> 00:02:56,640
on things. And so one of the projects that was started in 2023, 6902, which is the 3R improvement

33
00:02:56,640 --> 00:03:05,440
program is $954,000. This one doesn't show up when searching Fairview and a keyword on the GNRC

34
00:03:05,440 --> 00:03:09,980
website or even under TDOT. But if you look at it the other way, it's there.

35
00:03:09,980 --> 00:03:18,420
then there's another project which is 2019-6214 which talks about the widening from buoy lake road

36
00:03:18,420 --> 00:03:28,320
to 840 and that is 54 million dollars and it was funded back in 2019 and 2023 and it just has 2.4

37
00:03:28,320 --> 00:03:33,940
million dollars of the required 54 million so i guess that means it's definitely not happening

38
00:03:33,940 --> 00:03:41,800
anytime soon. There's a couple links to our old newspaper, Main Street Fairview,

39
00:03:42,220 --> 00:03:49,260
about the 2024 article about trying to widen the road and all the controversy, and then also one

40
00:03:49,260 --> 00:03:54,900
from 2018 that someone else sent in. The Sidewalk Project, the Cumberland Intersection Project are

41
00:03:54,900 --> 00:04:00,460
all glued together. We're going to keep watching that. We're growing. So first thing, city news.

42
00:04:00,460 --> 00:04:04,620
We had a commissioner update, a commissioner that reached out to us on the board.

43
00:04:05,300 --> 00:04:12,900
They wanted to call out the health department, which is back open across from the elementary school, has recently been renovated and is ready to help you.

44
00:04:13,340 --> 00:04:18,700
They have a stock of vaccines if needed, as well as other medical services, so please go check them out.

45
00:04:20,420 --> 00:04:29,020
Fall news started on November 4th with Fairview Public Works will start their leaf pickup on that day.

46
00:04:29,020 --> 00:04:32,440
So leaves must be in a biodegradable bag placed at the curbside.

47
00:04:32,980 --> 00:04:36,640
If you don't have the right bags, you can pick them up at the planning and codes department,

48
00:04:36,780 --> 00:04:40,860
which is between the Masonic Lodge and the fire department as you enter Bowie Park.

49
00:04:41,180 --> 00:04:44,720
The Fairview Police Department is still doing their shop with a cop program.

50
00:04:44,900 --> 00:04:46,500
The applications are still open.

51
00:04:46,680 --> 00:04:50,720
You can go pick them up at the Fairview Police Department 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

52
00:04:50,840 --> 00:04:55,360
Apple applications must be completed along with the participant information form for each

53
00:04:55,360 --> 00:05:01,180
towel returned no later than 4 p.m. on November 14th so you got about two weeks we continue to

54
00:05:01,180 --> 00:05:06,760
give thanks to our local businesses and their support throughout the year and fundraising and

55
00:05:06,760 --> 00:05:11,620
donations and make it there too so they do a really good job and if you need any other help

56
00:05:11,620 --> 00:05:17,420
with donations with the police department you can drop their stuff out their p.o box 69 here at

57
00:05:17,420 --> 00:05:27,140
fairview so that's good too all right so uh town meetings so um we had uh no board of zoning

58
00:05:27,140 --> 00:05:33,600
appeals the planning commission not one new since the last time 10 14 183 homes were approved

59
00:05:33,600 --> 00:05:42,940
board of commissioners uh update from the uh six uh from the 16th was basically uh we talked about

60
00:05:42,940 --> 00:05:48,080
that in the last show, which was the city reports, the thoroughfare plan, the farmer's market approval.

61
00:05:48,700 --> 00:05:54,340
So check out episode six if you want the full rundown. And October is also the last month of

62
00:05:54,340 --> 00:06:00,340
this chipper service stuff that's going on. But then we had the board of commissioner town hall

63
00:06:00,340 --> 00:06:08,320
meeting, which was on 1028. And so the recap of that is we basically had two people do public

64
00:06:08,320 --> 00:06:13,160
comments one at the beginning and she talked about the farmer's market and was asking about

65
00:06:13,160 --> 00:06:19,340
the historic village talking about the appraisal the grant process price power all the other items

66
00:06:19,340 --> 00:06:25,400
related to that project but everyone's responses from mayor anderson and mr mcdonald were um

67
00:06:25,400 --> 00:06:29,080
basically not that detailed and they said they're just waiting for this so some of these things

68
00:06:29,080 --> 00:06:33,080
haven't been ironed out like where their plugs are how much the plug is going to be all that

69
00:06:33,080 --> 00:06:39,740
kind of stuff. Another gentleman that came up and was basically talked about, um, if asked if they

70
00:06:39,740 --> 00:06:45,960
ever turn anyone down for rezoning, uh, which is a very valid question. And Mayor Anderson said all

71
00:06:45,960 --> 00:06:53,060
the time. Um, but if you've been paying attention for the past couple months or years, uh, it's a

72
00:06:53,060 --> 00:06:59,180
very low percentage. I'm still working with the team to get a big list of that. Um, but it's there.

73
00:06:59,180 --> 00:07:05,060
and then they talked about the rezoning of the pinewood road property how it came in as rs40

74
00:07:05,060 --> 00:07:11,460
and then was approved to be annexed to the city and was rezoned to rs10 at the same time chris and

75
00:07:11,460 --> 00:07:18,720
lisa both talked about things coming in and annexed into the city come in as rs40 the builder needed

76
00:07:18,720 --> 00:07:25,360
rs10 because of the land because there isn't as many goods there isn't a good amount of or there

77
00:07:25,360 --> 00:07:30,420
is a good amount of unbuildable area so then the lots would be too big and would it conform

78
00:07:30,420 --> 00:07:36,700
to rs40 so they will conform to rs10 with some lots being bigger and some lots being there he

79
00:07:36,700 --> 00:07:42,720
also talked about the lot of dump trucks going up glenhaven drive and uh to dogwood and uh you know

80
00:07:42,720 --> 00:07:49,020
there's not really any way to stop them chris and uh mayor mr mcdonald and mayor anderson both

81
00:07:49,020 --> 00:07:53,840
talked about this and there's not too much they can do so it kind of is what it is especially

82
00:07:53,840 --> 00:08:09,680
while this construction is going on at Cumberland and 100 Mayor Anderson responded to a bunch of questions also talked about the theater and how the Fairview High School and the Fairview Community Theater both have shows

83
00:08:09,680 --> 00:08:16,120
the following weekend on the 6th, 7th, and 8th. So she talked about the Fairview Community Theater,

84
00:08:16,480 --> 00:08:24,180
which is a Jekyll and Hyde on the 6th, 7th, and 8th. Vice Mayor McDonald talked about

85
00:08:24,180 --> 00:08:29,980
the game of the week and voting for it which looks like voting closed today at lunchtime so we won

86
00:08:29,980 --> 00:08:35,360
thursday night is the regional championship for region seven for high school so make sure and be

87
00:08:35,360 --> 00:08:41,480
there titan cheer is going to be there uh doing a routine their competition routine during halftime

88
00:08:41,480 --> 00:08:48,300
so that'll be good uh there's they are two weeks out for the next uh tpudc zoning work which is the

89
00:08:48,300 --> 00:08:52,440
new revised zoning for the city of Fairview.

90
00:08:52,960 --> 00:08:55,160
And they said that they were two weeks out,

91
00:08:55,260 --> 00:08:57,480
but they don't know if that's going to be enough time for the workshop.

92
00:08:57,480 --> 00:09:00,500
So the stuff may get pushed out on that,

93
00:09:00,560 --> 00:09:04,380
which is good because we actually need to make sure we have all reviewed these

94
00:09:04,380 --> 00:09:07,160
new zones before we start voting on them.

95
00:09:07,840 --> 00:09:09,600
We also talked about the time,

96
00:09:09,720 --> 00:09:12,480
someone asked about the timeline question to the new fair,

97
00:09:12,580 --> 00:09:13,720
welcome to Fairview signs.

98
00:09:13,720 --> 00:09:15,760
And there was no new yet news yet there.

99
00:09:16,420 --> 00:09:26,200
Commissioner Roberts talked about the high school rumors, which is the same time, November 6th, 7th, and 8th at 7 p.m. and 2 p.m. on the 8th, too.

100
00:09:26,520 --> 00:09:29,480
We put all this on the calendar on the website, so if you need it, it's there.

101
00:09:29,900 --> 00:09:33,260
The show notes both have links to each one to buy tickets.

102
00:09:34,020 --> 00:09:40,940
She also asked about veterans recognition at the high school this year, and Mayor Anderson said they are not having it this year.

103
00:09:41,720 --> 00:09:48,020
Commissioner Buffalini talked about the trunk retreat at First Baptist tonight on the 29th.

104
00:09:48,180 --> 00:09:52,600
And One Church Home is having OCH Fest, which is food and a carnival tonight also.

105
00:09:53,420 --> 00:09:56,740
Fall Forward is happening this weekend, so make sure and fix your clocks.

106
00:09:57,520 --> 00:10:04,480
He also congratulated some of the Franklin winners of the ward electionship for the city of Franklin down there.

107
00:10:04,480 --> 00:10:11,920
we don't have any meeting meeting notes from the 29th meeting by tp udc

108
00:10:11,920 --> 00:10:15,100
so they're going to have to reach out for that

109
00:10:15,100 --> 00:10:20,180
and then there was a big talk back and forth

110
00:10:20,180 --> 00:10:28,040
about who's responsible for city lights and that there was an hoa that was having a big hoa price

111
00:10:28,040 --> 00:10:32,260
increase and they said it was eleven thousand dollars more a year because they were paying for

112
00:10:32,260 --> 00:10:37,820
the street lights. The city manager chimed in along with Manerson and a couple other people

113
00:10:37,820 --> 00:10:45,680
went back and forth and said that if it's part of an HOA that they are doing it. And if the

114
00:10:45,680 --> 00:10:50,960
street's owned by the city, the city pays for those light power. And if it's owned by the developer,

115
00:10:51,160 --> 00:10:57,240
the HOA, then they pay for it. So it's kind of there. Mr. Hall, Commissioner Hall talked about

116
00:10:57,240 --> 00:11:01,660
how you could vote more than once for the team for this football game of the week.

117
00:11:02,260 --> 00:11:05,940
and then talked about meeting up with a former representative and how things are going well with

118
00:11:05,940 --> 00:11:10,020
the city so that was good so next meetings planning commission doesn't have anything

119
00:11:10,020 --> 00:11:14,180
till november 18th board of commissioners doesn't have anything to the 6th or the 20th

120
00:11:15,140 --> 00:11:21,620
with that tpudc zoning or review may be happening the 6th or it might actually be happening the 20th

121
00:11:22,340 --> 00:11:28,980
board of commissioners town hall was yesterday so there's not one until next month parks and

122
00:11:28,980 --> 00:11:33,960
Landscape board is November 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Historic Village.

123
00:11:34,620 --> 00:11:36,000
There's no agenda for that.

124
00:11:36,080 --> 00:11:36,860
You just got to go to it.

125
00:11:36,940 --> 00:11:39,380
Around Town Coffee is scheduled for November 12th.

126
00:11:39,380 --> 00:11:41,980
And we have a special edition for November.

127
00:11:42,220 --> 00:11:43,740
We have a beer board meeting.

128
00:11:44,260 --> 00:11:50,300
This only happens when an applicant applies in the city to sell adult beverages.

129
00:11:50,300 --> 00:11:58,940
So Darshan Chudgar from Padma LLC, which is T-Mart on Highway 96, which is basically the

130
00:11:58,940 --> 00:12:02,360
shell station as soon as you come off I-40 and 96 at the red light.

131
00:12:02,980 --> 00:12:07,580
They had to also, in this application, what's kind of interesting, they had to list where

132
00:12:07,580 --> 00:12:12,040
the nearest school, church, or daycare, or nursery is, which is Loblawley Preschool,

133
00:12:12,460 --> 00:12:14,220
which is down near Crocutt Road.

134
00:12:14,220 --> 00:12:21,260
they requested an off premises permit which means they sell beer that you drink or beverages you

135
00:12:21,260 --> 00:12:27,640
drink not on property versus on premise permit which is where you would have it for a bar or

136
00:12:27,640 --> 00:12:32,940
restaurant so the notes for that beer board and that agenda and applicant stuff is in the show

137
00:12:32,940 --> 00:12:39,220
notes the state of tennessee the memphis national guard is still doing things reports of over a

138
00:12:39,220 --> 00:12:44,300
thousand arrests have been made. So we'll see how that keeps going. And also Memphis, the school

139
00:12:44,300 --> 00:12:51,080
board is working on a bill that will allow recall of elected leaders in that area for mayors,

140
00:12:51,240 --> 00:12:56,300
county commissioners, school board members, and others. So that's bill number 1448. If you want

141
00:12:56,300 --> 00:13:05,680
to look it up more, it's pretty good. Then we had a former representative, Robin Smith,

142
00:13:05,680 --> 00:13:10,980
sentenced to eight months in federal prison for her role in a corruption conspiracy case.

143
00:13:11,460 --> 00:13:15,720
This doesn't make national news, but I think it's good that their accountability is there

144
00:13:15,720 --> 00:13:22,440
and justice is working there. The Tennessee Department of Education released the 2024 to 2025

145
00:13:22,440 --> 00:13:32,300
graduation rate data for the state. There was 92.3% from 92.1%, so they grew 0.2%.

146
00:13:32,300 --> 00:13:42,740
There was also lots of stats that there was a ton of counties that had 99% or a couple of counties that had 99, most had 95, and kind of talked about some of that stuff.

147
00:13:43,060 --> 00:13:49,440
So December 2nd is the final special election vote for the 7th U.S. House District seat.

148
00:13:50,060 --> 00:13:53,440
Afton Ben and Matt Van Epps on the Republican side.

149
00:13:53,540 --> 00:13:55,960
So based on the primary results, we'll see how that all goes.

150
00:13:56,360 --> 00:13:59,160
More news of going back and forth have been going about.

151
00:13:59,160 --> 00:14:04,700
The Music City Hole, Music City Loop is still digging and they're making more holes.

152
00:14:04,880 --> 00:14:10,620
City Council is reporting a significant lack of transparency regarding the project running through their district.

153
00:14:10,840 --> 00:14:14,720
And it was approved at the state level instead of at the city metro level.

154
00:14:15,140 --> 00:14:25,740
The airport released a video this week talking about Terminal 2, which will have 70 more gates on 300 acres just south of the airport, which will be start around 2038.

155
00:14:25,740 --> 00:14:32,140
and we have the link in there from the news station to watch that video and go there too.

156
00:14:32,780 --> 00:14:39,280
The bills. So this is what we have for this week. Nothing super cool. October 23rd, just a little

157
00:14:39,280 --> 00:14:43,660
bit before there, we had ways and means, but coming up, there was no notes on that. We talked

158
00:14:43,660 --> 00:14:49,940
about that last one. October 30th, November 5th, and November 5th twice, we have the advisory on

159
00:14:49,940 --> 00:14:55,960
the K-12 education. We have a fiscal review and we have a federal education deregulation

160
00:14:55,960 --> 00:15:00,580
cooperations task force on November 5th. So those are the three things coming up there.

161
00:15:01,400 --> 00:15:07,820
How's the hill? Back at it. It's definitely passable. Fall is rocking. Running noses are

162
00:15:07,820 --> 00:15:14,680
abundant with now lows in the high 30s to 40s and highs in the 50s to 60s. The weather gurus

163
00:15:14,680 --> 00:15:19,040
are expecting some more rain heading our way this weekend. We've already had some sprinkles here and

164
00:15:19,040 --> 00:15:24,980
there which has been great new businesses nothing new is spotted uh really kind of going on no

165
00:15:24,980 --> 00:15:29,660
ribbon cuttings or anything that ace hardware still brewing there's still an open spot at buoy

166
00:15:29,660 --> 00:15:35,500
commons and buoy meadows other than that nothing else is kind of going on there the farmer's market

167
00:15:35,500 --> 00:15:41,400
make sure you head to the farmer's market every saturday from 8 to 12 p.m not earlier uh at

168
00:15:41,400 --> 00:15:46,880
messa chiropractic and fairview fresh deli donuts for their life-changing apple fritters located

169
00:15:46,880 --> 00:15:48,380

170
00:15:48,800 --> 00:15:51,800
So many good places to get local beef and pork,

171
00:15:52,340 --> 00:16:07,080
breads and treats fruits and vegetables along with some hot sauce fishing lures and other holiday gifts especially this time of year And so then we go ahead and go into job openings Job openings this time we got

172
00:16:07,080 --> 00:16:12,800
the city has a police officer opening, the associate planner on the city level too, so that

173
00:16:12,800 --> 00:16:17,840
was cool to see. Walmart, multiple positions there, Cornerstone Financial Credit Union,

174
00:16:18,080 --> 00:16:24,160

00:16:24,160 --> 00:16:29,300

181
00:16:57,960 --> 00:17:04,160
just let us know, fill out the contact form and you can hit us up. Um, history nugget. Um,

182
00:17:04,240 --> 00:17:08,220
we're going to talk about Sullivan road. The Sullivan family is attached to the triangle

183
00:17:08,220 --> 00:17:14,540
school, which was built in the triangular shape lot in 1939 across from the rec center. This,

184
00:17:14,540 --> 00:17:20,100
The first principal was Nellie Walker Sullivan, or maybe Nell.

185
00:17:20,500 --> 00:17:21,120
It might be Nell.

186
00:17:21,980 --> 00:17:31,560
And three other Sullivans, Vella Sullivan, Pegram, Madeline Sullivan, Wallace, and Awful Sullivan were other notable teachers.

187
00:17:32,340 --> 00:17:36,000
Nell Walker Sullivan taught to the school for over 50 years.

188
00:17:36,000 --> 00:17:42,980
so and if you notice also the sullivans have a big century farm thing uh on 100 and have been

189
00:17:42,980 --> 00:17:50,820
around fairview for a very very very long time so awesome stuff upcoming events so recap first uh

190
00:17:50,820 --> 00:17:57,300
trunk or treat at buoy park was on october 25th great success lots of kids candies businesses and

191
00:17:57,300 --> 00:18:03,740
families out there it was great awesome costumes my favorite was the icy kid and a joe dirt i think

192
00:18:03,740 --> 00:18:10,040
Mario, Spider-Man, Wednesday, and Paw Patrol characters won in pure volume with the people

193
00:18:10,040 --> 00:18:14,900
that had the most costumes going over and over again. I think it was a little bit fewer people

194
00:18:14,900 --> 00:18:21,560
than last year. And I think that's because more and more events are going on on that exact day

195
00:18:21,560 --> 00:18:26,020
and throughout that week, along with so many things are going on, it's really hard to kind

196
00:18:26,020 --> 00:18:32,200
of find out what's going on. And so we'll see how that goes. And then also last week was the

197
00:18:32,200 --> 00:18:38,200
Middle Tennessee Veterans Coalition on October 21st at Crosspoint Dixon. Had an okay turnout.

198
00:18:38,380 --> 00:18:43,100
The VA was there, which was good since I thought they might not come because of the government

199
00:18:43,100 --> 00:18:50,260
shutdown still going. So that was awesome. So our upcoming events, you know, Dixon has their 2025

200
00:18:50,260 --> 00:18:56,760
Veterans Day parade on Sunday, November 9th in downtown, leaves at 10 a.m. November 10th is the

201
00:18:56,760 --> 00:19:02,580
Marine Corps' birthday for the country. Franklin has November 11th, their Veterans Day parade.

202
00:19:03,180 --> 00:19:09,000
In our town, we have the fall market at the Fairview High School on November 15th at 9 a.m.

203
00:19:09,000 --> 00:19:14,740
to 3 p.m. And then within the town on the same day, Grace Works is going to also have the mobile

204
00:19:14,740 --> 00:19:20,460
food pantry at the middle school from 8 to 10 a.m. or until food runs out. And we have the link in

205
00:19:20,460 --> 00:19:25,920
there if you need that. The city has the Christmas tree lighting on December 5th at 5 p.m. and the

206
00:19:25,920 --> 00:19:31,520
Christmas parade on December 6th at 10 a.m. We have a link to a lot of other calendars if you

207
00:19:31,520 --> 00:19:39,020
need that for the kids. We had one of the youth leaders reach out from the Cub Scouts underneath

208
00:19:39,020 --> 00:19:44,080
the Scouts BSA program to make sure we were announcing it, and we definitely are, because

209
00:19:44,080 --> 00:19:49,020
there's lots and lots of activities to do here in Fairview. No matter what your kid's into,

210
00:19:49,180 --> 00:19:54,240
there's definitely probably an activity or group for them. We have a thriving, you know, just like

211
00:19:54,240 --> 00:19:58,000
We said scouts program on the Girl Scout side, the scouts BSA side.

212
00:19:58,000 --> 00:20:02,560
So from elementary school kids to high schoolers, they got it covered.

213
00:20:03,060 --> 00:20:06,240
There's La La's Dance Studio, Elevate Gymnastics and Cheer.

214
00:20:06,560 --> 00:20:12,240
There's also a Taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu place that teaches a lot more than just moves called Vigilance Martial Arts.

215
00:20:12,660 --> 00:20:16,180
We have a great youth wrestling program with some summer options.

216
00:20:16,380 --> 00:20:22,260
And we also have a lot of baseball teams, soccer teams, and cheer teams with the Fairview Titans.

217
00:20:22,480 --> 00:20:23,660
So there's lots of stuff there.

218
00:20:24,240 --> 00:20:39,940
So school news. So no school on October 31st. This was turned into a workday is the first time I think I can remember in years of going to school here. So that's kind of cool. Well, everybody can just have a party on Friday. That'll be awesome.

219
00:20:39,940 --> 00:20:46,480
hawks and tiger news so we need your help uh we're not getting any weekly notes or news uh not a lot

220
00:20:46,480 --> 00:20:53,020
of stuff is posted so if you're a member of the fes uh pto and want to reach out for any of these

221
00:20:53,020 --> 00:21:00,320
events please send it us our way uh falcon news there is a natural predator spirit night on november

222
00:21:00,320 --> 00:21:06,280
1st at 2 30 p.m and they have released a little note that someone from the school will win a ride

223
00:21:06,280 --> 00:21:08,480
on the Zamboni, so make sure and sign up.

224
00:21:08,580 --> 00:21:09,660
That's going to be super cool.

225
00:21:10,380 --> 00:21:13,300
Miss Hanson from the theater class won the Teacher of the Year,

226
00:21:13,420 --> 00:21:14,720
so congratulations to her.

227
00:21:15,460 --> 00:21:22,060
October 29th is a home baseball team versus Spring Hill from 4 to 7 p.m.,

228
00:21:22,060 --> 00:21:24,760
girls and boys varsity and JV.

229
00:21:25,420 --> 00:21:32,700
Sign-ups for the Rock Band Club, which meets on Mondays 3 to 3.45 in the band room.

230
00:21:32,960 --> 00:21:34,540
Get your permission slip turned in.

231
00:21:34,540 --> 00:21:41,580
there's also some fundraiser links in the show notes jacket news so this was actually talked

232
00:21:41,580 --> 00:21:45,780
about at the board of commissioners town hall which is there's a big football game on october

233
00:21:45,780 --> 00:21:51,840
30th against waverly this is the region six championship so make sure and be there there

234
00:21:51,840 --> 00:21:56,480
will actually be the fairview titans cheerleading will be doing their halftime show so come and

235
00:21:56,480 --> 00:22:02,340
support fairview and if you can't the on-demand links there too and big congratulations to the

236
00:22:02,340 --> 00:22:06,820
boys and girls cross country team from the high school for getting to the state championship next

237
00:22:06,820 --> 00:22:13,840
week in memphis thanks to coach jess and coach pet for all you do uh this week was red red ribbon

238
00:22:13,840 --> 00:22:19,860
week um and they had all kinds of things that they were dressing up as and doing all kinds of stuff

239
00:22:19,860 --> 00:22:27,560
which was pretty fun uh so the first day was tie dye the next was wearing all black and each one of

240
00:22:27,560 --> 00:22:29,680
was to do stuff with related to drugs.

241
00:22:30,500 --> 00:22:32,920
Then it was Pajama Day, then Hawaiian Day,

242
00:22:33,080 --> 00:22:34,340
and then Rhyme Without Reason.

243
00:22:35,040 --> 00:22:37,920
And then finally, Camo on Thursday.

244
00:22:38,560 --> 00:22:41,060
So the annual pumpkin patch is also still going

245
00:22:41,060 --> 00:22:42,600
to October 31st.

246
00:22:42,780 --> 00:22:44,360
There's hardly any pumpkins left.

247
00:22:44,440 --> 00:22:45,700
So I think that's a great sign.

248
00:22:45,780 --> 00:22:46,800
I think they're almost sold out.

249
00:22:47,240 --> 00:22:50,540
And that's over at Apex Bank from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.

250
00:22:50,540 --> 00:22:53,420
And this helps fund the FHS Athletic Committee.

251
00:22:54,060 --> 00:22:55,680
The fall market, just like we said,

252
00:22:55,680 --> 00:22:57,620
November 15th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

253
00:22:58,760 --> 00:23:01,160
This is a great place to get your Christmas shopping done,

254
00:23:01,160 --> 00:23:03,920
along with the weekly trip to the farmer's market.

255
00:23:04,820 --> 00:23:08,460
The art club is still going, so turn in your forms.

256
00:23:09,420 --> 00:23:16,780
And every Friday this year, there will be Kona Ice and Tom's Coffee at lunchtime.

257
00:23:17,240 --> 00:23:21,500
Senior Portraits on November 21st, along with Career Day.

258
00:23:21,500 --> 00:23:29,260
as VAB is scheduled for December 9th at 8 a.m. in the learning lab if you're thinking about joining

259
00:23:29,260 --> 00:23:34,160
the military this is a must-have this score will continue will determine what job you can even pick

260
00:23:34,160 --> 00:23:39,020
and it's really good time there so it looks like the high school bowling team is still rolling with

261
00:23:39,020 --> 00:23:44,260
the next practice November 13th and 20th so you'll keep making some trips to Thunder Alley

262
00:23:44,260 --> 00:23:46,240
in Dixon to get your role on.

263
00:23:47,000 --> 00:23:48,760
Congratulations to the high school

264
00:23:48,760 --> 00:23:52,400
Sound of Gold Band

265
00:23:52,400 --> 00:24:04,660
for winning first place for multiple things First place in band first place percussion second place color guard

266
00:24:05,260 --> 00:24:10,160
second place field commander, and third place overall,

267
00:24:10,300 --> 00:24:15,860
which was the first for Fairview at the Forest School competition in Chapel Hill just last week.

268
00:24:15,980 --> 00:24:18,500
The construction and ag classes are rock and rolling,

269
00:24:18,640 --> 00:24:21,320
so keep an eye out for hunting blinds and dog houses.

270
00:24:21,920 --> 00:24:24,800
The ag class is getting ready for some FFA events.

271
00:24:25,400 --> 00:24:29,380
The NASP archery team under the ROTC team is kicking off.

272
00:24:29,840 --> 00:24:34,140
If you have any students that are driving, make sure they send an email to the principal

273
00:24:34,140 --> 00:24:38,200
and then get the Schoolology link to the Checkpoints driving training

274
00:24:38,200 --> 00:24:41,180
and make sure you get your parking pass so they can do that.

275
00:24:41,860 --> 00:24:43,000
So that was good there too.

276
00:24:44,280 --> 00:24:45,580
And faith moment.

277
00:24:46,760 --> 00:24:49,500
This one is a little bit different than the past couple

278
00:24:49,500 --> 00:24:51,520
because we've had some long sermons and short sermons.

279
00:24:51,880 --> 00:24:54,120
This is three quick clips that came up this week

280
00:24:54,120 --> 00:24:56,540
that I think may be relevant to many married couples.

281
00:24:57,080 --> 00:24:59,980
This first one that we're going to go to talks about kids

282
00:24:59,980 --> 00:25:03,500
and how they become the center of the marriage instead of God and each other.

283
00:25:04,260 --> 00:25:08,180
And that may be setting up a time bomb for when your kids move out,

284
00:25:08,180 --> 00:25:12,200
which is why many divorces happen at 20 to 25 years

285
00:25:12,200 --> 00:25:14,660
and not 7 and 15 in those middle times.

286
00:25:14,800 --> 00:25:16,740
Here's what sometimes happens.

287
00:25:16,740 --> 00:25:20,660
A marriage will start with a wife prioritizing her husband.

288
00:25:21,240 --> 00:25:25,720
Then kids come along and he becomes a priority and she starts to say things like this.

289
00:25:26,040 --> 00:25:28,740
Sometimes I hear in the lobby and let's just not say this ever again.

290
00:25:29,640 --> 00:25:34,720
She starts to say things, you know, husband and kids are in the room and she says something about the kids.

291
00:25:35,080 --> 00:25:38,760
And she says, oh, points to her husband and goes, oh, he knows his place.

292
00:25:40,080 --> 00:25:45,940
Or in the lobby, they'll say something and they'll just say, oh, he knows my baby's come first.

293
00:25:46,740 --> 00:25:49,540
So the marriage started with the husband as the priority,

294
00:25:49,740 --> 00:25:51,120
but now the kids are the priority,

295
00:25:51,240 --> 00:25:52,200
so they become the priority.

296
00:25:52,400 --> 00:25:53,520
They get the best energy.

297
00:25:53,900 --> 00:25:55,860
You're too tired for fun or for intimacy.

298
00:25:56,440 --> 00:25:58,760
Maybe they're even sleeping in the same bed as you

299
00:25:58,760 --> 00:25:59,780
for years and years and years.

300
00:25:59,860 --> 00:26:01,960
And listen, maybe short time, medical reason,

301
00:26:02,080 --> 00:26:03,480
emotional reason, parenting choice,

302
00:26:03,620 --> 00:26:05,840
short time, limited time, that's fine.

303
00:26:06,000 --> 00:26:07,320
But listen, for years and years and years,

304
00:26:07,420 --> 00:26:09,500
listen, hey, dear sir, dear ma'am,

305
00:26:09,820 --> 00:26:12,000
there should be things happening in your bed

306
00:26:12,000 --> 00:26:15,200
that would scar your children for life if they saw that.

307
00:26:15,200 --> 00:26:16,760
So we need to, hey, let's make sure

308
00:26:16,760 --> 00:26:18,500
that the priority's in the right spot.

309
00:26:18,760 --> 00:26:19,520
So this is what happens.

310
00:26:19,840 --> 00:26:21,940
And then what happens is the husband gets jealous

311
00:26:21,940 --> 00:26:25,000
because jealousy literally means somebody else is in my place.

312
00:26:25,040 --> 00:26:26,120
So he starts to get jealous.

313
00:26:26,440 --> 00:26:27,860
Out of his jealousy and resentment,

314
00:26:28,020 --> 00:26:29,660
he starts prioritizing his career.

315
00:26:29,880 --> 00:26:31,660
You're gonna do the kids, I'm gonna do the career.

316
00:26:32,060 --> 00:26:33,700
So then when the kids go to college,

317
00:26:34,000 --> 00:26:35,820
the thing that she was all about is gone

318
00:26:35,820 --> 00:26:37,400
and he's not all about her anymore.

319
00:26:37,580 --> 00:26:39,480
So when they go to college, you pulled the pin on a grenade

320
00:26:39,480 --> 00:26:41,980
and that's why a ton of divorces happen

321
00:26:41,980 --> 00:26:44,780
not at year three or seven, they happen at year 20 and 25.

322
00:26:45,200 --> 00:26:52,240
See, if you start to make your whole marriage about the kids and the kids are first, hey, guys, heads up, kids are leaving someday.

323
00:26:53,100 --> 00:26:54,060
Kids are leaving someday.

324
00:26:54,480 --> 00:27:01,440
So if you make the marriage about the thing that's going to leave, you are building in a landmine that you are going to detonate someday.

325
00:27:02,280 --> 00:27:03,140
Welcome back.

326
00:27:03,280 --> 00:27:08,800
This next one is about marriage and how women need to help support their husbands.

327
00:27:08,800 --> 00:27:13,780
And that support can really go a long way to helping them.

328
00:27:13,780 --> 00:27:16,440
Ladies, hear this, okay?

329
00:27:16,800 --> 00:27:19,080
If you're a wife, look at me.

330
00:27:20,020 --> 00:27:23,840
Let all the defenses down, because that's what tends to happen.

331
00:27:25,940 --> 00:27:31,300
The words of encouragement on the lips of a wife are like gold in the heart of a husband.

332
00:27:32,340 --> 00:27:34,220
I just don't have, I just can't even explain it.

333
00:27:34,840 --> 00:27:41,240
And listen, every man you talk to, inside of him is both a king and a jester.

334
00:27:41,240 --> 00:27:43,820
and you're going to get the one you talk to.

335
00:27:45,020 --> 00:27:47,000
And so you can consistently use your words

336
00:27:47,000 --> 00:27:48,660
to crown him or to shame him.

337
00:27:50,460 --> 00:27:53,180
And guys aren't real good at saying,

338
00:27:53,420 --> 00:27:55,160
hey, babe, I need to talk about my feelings.

339
00:27:56,180 --> 00:27:58,120
I think I'm in a spiritual depression

340
00:27:58,120 --> 00:27:58,940
and I'm not believing.

341
00:27:59,120 --> 00:28:00,880
It doesn't usually go that way.

342
00:28:01,380 --> 00:28:04,020
But ladies, you're intuitive and you're smart.

343
00:28:05,080 --> 00:28:06,600
And you've got to understand

344
00:28:06,600 --> 00:28:08,840
that the dude is not good for him to be alone.

345
00:28:08,920 --> 00:28:09,900
So he sent you.

346
00:28:11,240 --> 00:28:17,840
To be wise, to discern, to see through what he is saying, to see what he's actually saying,

347
00:28:17,840 --> 00:28:23,120
so that you can be an echo of what God wants to say to the brother and speak life into it.

348
00:28:23,120 --> 00:28:26,120
And last but not least, this is another good one about marriage,

349
00:28:26,520 --> 00:28:30,560
about some things that you can make a blueprint for for divorce.

350
00:28:31,040 --> 00:28:36,840
These four things need to be agreed on, faith, money, parenting, and extended family,

351
00:28:37,300 --> 00:28:40,800
and getting really good at forgiveness and always keep dating.

352
00:28:41,240 --> 00:28:45,420
I got some of this in most of the services, but this is really important.

353
00:28:45,700 --> 00:28:47,140
And we'll be very raw here.

354
00:28:47,360 --> 00:28:51,160
So like, very frankly, the blueprint we need to be looking for, according to the Bible,

355
00:28:51,380 --> 00:28:55,820
the husband's primary orientation needs to be towards the marketplace provider.

356
00:28:56,160 --> 00:28:59,800
The wife's primary orientation needs to be towards the home.

357
00:28:59,940 --> 00:29:02,260
I'm not saying that it's wrong for a woman to work.

358
00:29:02,360 --> 00:29:05,140
We're not saying that a woman's place is the home.

359
00:29:05,440 --> 00:29:10,280
What we are saying is that according to the Bible, a wife's priority does need to be the home.

360
00:29:10,280 --> 00:29:14,340
you need to agree on this stuff up front. So number one, get your blueprint right. Because

361
00:29:14,340 --> 00:29:19,680
if she's got career woman, girl boss in her head and you've got, man, I want to build a family and

362
00:29:19,680 --> 00:29:24,660
have a, you know, that you're going to have a problem. There's four things that every marriage

363
00:29:24,660 --> 00:29:30,120
needs to agree on. And the divorce rates just go insanely down. I think it's faith, money,

364
00:29:30,220 --> 00:29:34,660
parenting, and then extended family. And then the last thing I would say is you need to figure out

365
00:29:34,660 --> 00:29:38,740
how to get real good at doing conflict and forgiveness.

366
00:29:39,260 --> 00:29:41,480
When a man dates his wife,

367
00:29:41,640 --> 00:29:43,400
first of all, that's the pattern of Song of Solomon.

368
00:29:43,820 --> 00:29:46,680
The pursuit doesn't stop when the marriage happens.

369
00:29:46,860 --> 00:29:47,920
The pursuit continues.

370
00:29:48,280 --> 00:29:51,280
You want to have a happy marriage, like invest in it.

371
00:29:51,440 --> 00:29:53,200
Hey, the grass isn't greener on the inside of the fence,

372
00:29:53,300 --> 00:29:54,400
the grass is greener where you water it.

373
00:29:54,540 --> 00:29:56,920
What you want to do, man of God,

374
00:29:57,260 --> 00:29:59,860
is you want to craft a marriage

375
00:29:59,860 --> 00:30:04,000
where you're going to be so happy and have so much fun

376
00:30:04,000 --> 00:30:07,760
being 80, sitting in a rocking chair,

377
00:30:08,000 --> 00:30:11,380
holding hands with grandkids and great grandkids,

378
00:30:11,540 --> 00:30:13,200
running around your backyard.

379
00:30:13,500 --> 00:30:15,020
Hey, man, that's happiness.

380
00:30:15,040 --> 00:30:15,540
Welcome back.

381
00:30:15,620 --> 00:30:17,120
I know that was definitely a little bit different,

382
00:30:17,540 --> 00:30:19,440
but I hope this helps some couples out there.

383
00:30:20,560 --> 00:30:22,100
All right, now to donations.

384
00:30:22,580 --> 00:30:24,800
