EP: 6 Fall is Here
This is the Fairview, TN News from Oct 15th-22nd 2025.
Welcome to Episode 6 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here in Fairview, for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas. This is a weekly show, released every Wednesday, featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire. Local Radio stations don’t exist in small towns like ours, so we will use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview. This is a Value for Value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value you receive. This concept was founded by the PodFather himself, Adam Curry, and his Co-host, John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show, almost 18 years ago.
Currently, this is a one-man operation, so if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, or job openings, please don't hesitate to let me know. You are a producer of this show; you are not the product, because your time and attention are not being sold to advertisers for value. Some shows will be longer, others shorter, but I will do my best to keep things relevant.
Traffic Time
Normal Busy, Cumberland and 100 was better this week, with a full week under our belt with the new Cumberland and 100 Intersection. There will be more closures, and we will see how things go because they are not giving us a plan; they are just telling us a week in advance, at most. There will likely be some more grading and drainage work to make the turn lane into Cumberland from 100, so we will see how those closures go throughout the week.
Redlight Update – We currently still have three (Old Cox, Publix, & Walmart). Still, we will soon be getting one at the new City Center Entrance and at the Cumberland and 100 intersection when that expansion occurs. I’m not sure how it will help or hurt yet, but I hope the crossing guard can control it during the morning and evening school rush.
City Center – There will still be some construction closures here and there.
Future Projects – I still need to find out more about this project because I wonder what the costs of these sidewalks will be to understand whether it will be worth it when the dust settles, and one day the road gets widened and they will have to be torn up and replaced again. I know we are stuck in a loop where we are not big enough to expand, and we are not big enough to grow.

- Total Estimated Project Cost: $100,000 – $155,000
- Total Estimated Cost to City of Fairview: $10,000 - $15,500
- Transportation Planning Grant Funding Cap and Matching:
- The maximum award amount is $250,000
- The Transportation Planning Grant is 80% federal, 10% state, and 10% local match
- Resolution 58-25
- 5-0 Unanimous Yes
- Park Planner - They described the plan, which aligns with our previous analysis. This plan is estimated at 2.2 million dollars, so the City would need 1.1 million for the match. They have helped 20 other cities get this grant, and you have never applied, so you have a good chance of getting it. LPRF Funds are used to make the parks in the State of TN. This is a 50/50 match grant. We could use the land as the match since the City owns it, so there is no money out, but the stipulation is that the land must always be a park. Applications open in January 2026.
- Mayor Anderson – Talked about the Bollards and how they are removable. Talked about the vendor size: 8x8. 10 A 10-foot-wide walkway in the middle. Talked about some of the swells that the walkways will need to work around and with. When the question of parking came up, she spoke about West View United Methodist as a possible parking spot for vendors. Talked about a possible cross walk across 100 or deer rigde. Future Plans for the historical village include a possible log house in one of the expansion areas on the site plan, the building is stored and can be reassembled when the time comes. Talked about how we could expand the parking. We could tell the vendors to use the drop-off spot and tell them where to park afterward. Talked about how she cannot remember the sound being a problem there at the Historical Village. The pond will be a detention pond. Talked about how the Farmers market ended up where they are and said its current situation is hazardous. Fairview used to be a Rec center but was pushed out by the county due to liability/insurance concerns, which is why it is where it is. She thinks this will make things safer. We may not allow people parking at the Rec Center because the county could have the same plans.
- Don Bufalini – Talked about the sound interference from Highway 100. They have tried to orient the amphitheater to minimize. The grading will require some fill, and they will be expanding the pond. There will be speakers in the amphitheater to give sound and lighting options. Is any of this expandable in the future, not easily, and it would be lopsided. Talked about some of the trees and maybe moving some. Will this be irrigated? Up to the City. Asked about the maintenance of the wood and that there wouldn’t be a need to do it because it’s pressure-treated (but that means it will gray and no longer look the same after the first year or so). We have been paying for the engineering fees as they have been making the site plan as they go (Engineering has come from Bond Money).
- Carolyn Roberts – She thought about the vendors, which is excellent. Is there power for vendors? Yes, each column has two outlets. She brought up the lack of parking given the number of vendors, and how some may have to park across the road and run across 100 yards with their stuff. She was worried about crosswalk safety on such a busy, high-speed section of the road, even with flashing lights and signs. Only 14 spots after vendors. Who decides who gets to rent it out? Talked about how the sound will work with 100, like the Caboose park in Bellevue. Talked about more parking again if we could expand the parking, maybe we don’t need Bus Parking as they could drop off and park at the Rec Center. Talked about what lighting will be around the paths and for the vendors. If we are awarded the grant, we are committed to the plan; otherwise, we could be blacklisted from other state funding, so we need to have everything ready. To help with the grant, it would require more money, right? Yes, that would cost more. If we don’t get the grant, are we still bound to build this? There would be some engineering costs, but you don’t have to build it, is what the City Lawyer responded back with.
- Hall – What expansions are planned for Mayor Anderson? Like the plan. Could we apply for other grants, and would it complicate things with this grant?
- McDonald – Parking was one of his concerns, and he noted that the current farmers market doesn’t have much parking, but has been doing great for years. Talked about sidewalks from the other parking area. Spoke about the funding; it seems worth it and should be good for the town. Should we wait for these designs to be updated before moving forward? Yes, revisions are allowed as they move forward.
- City Manager – Talked about how they could only host events of 250-300 people. 7 Acres, 200 Yards down the road, that could be overflow parking. The Parks Department will handle things just like it does at Bowie Park now. The property should be worth around 600k, and then there is money from the Park or even a fundraiser to help fill the gap to fund it.
- City Codes – Talked about a new Events Tab where vendors can upload their insurance documentation and other documents to rent this out. (This was the fear of the farmers’ market being hosted by the City, where more money will have to come out of vendors’ pockets before they make 1 dollar.). Talked about the Fees are still in process.

- From the pictures, we can see 38 Parking spaces (2 Handicap, 36 Spots), 24 Bay Market Pavilion (30’x112’), 24 Vendor Spots, Unloading Zone for Sellers to drop stuff off and then park, Restroom with Storage, 21k SQ Foot Amphitheater and Lawn (111 feet from the Farmers Market to the Amphitheater Pavilion), Expanded Pond from the existing, 6’ Concrete walkway around the Perimeter, Grass Pavers for truck turnaround on the path (band gear), five small lots for future historical building expansions. This will add to the 13 Spots (2 Handicap, 11 Spots) (51 Spaces) completed as part of a previous improvement at the Triangle School. This is more parking than is currently available at the current Farmers Market. Since vehicles aren’t part of the vendor setup, there will only be 10-15 spots left, which is a little less. We also don’t know enough about this to understand how it will impact our local businesses. Right now, the space is donated and supported by Meseck Chiropractic, which has provided the vendors at no charge, helping immensely. At other city-run farmers’ markets, there is a fee of 75-200 dollars for the season, with the same amount of profit lost before they sell their first product. They also have difficulty figuring out who should come and deny other applications, which hurts other potential businesses, as they cannot participate, and when someone doesn’t show up, there is now a spot that cannot be filled. The system seems to have worked well, as it was at the Recreation Center and is now at Meseck Chiropractic, with vendors coming and going naturally throughout the year. It’s not like it’s perfect right now, but I think this could make it worse for each vendor. We will have to see what details are at this meeting.

- Thank you to the Police and Fire Department.
- Anderson
- Thank you to the Police and Fire Department.
- Thanks to the new Agendas and Notes, which help out.
- Water Board – I have been attending the meetings for the past three years. Three members are allowed at 5 o’clock on the 2nd Monday of each month. Our city has nothing to do with water and sewer, and Dickson is in charge. They have discussed the 12-dollar price increase to help pay for infrastructure. We are still missing the proper number of pump stations, and some of them are not enclosed, which has led to sewage smells. They need to increase the water storage capability. They had a billing upgrade, which meant the period before was about 29 days, and the other was 40 days, which makes sense for the price increase. You can call 615-441-4188 or Google WADC if you have questions about your bill. Half the systems in Fairview are digital, so no one has to come out and read the meters. Watering your lawn will raise your rates, and if you want to spend $1,000, you can get a separate meter just for that, so you’re not paying for sewage. Thanks for reaching out because she didn’t know it was an issue.
- McDonald
- Water Prices and how they’re increasing have been a frequent question.
- Paint that fell out of the truck, and lots of paint that fell, and maybe get with the private property to help fix it. (This was at Seven Hair Parlor and on Old Cox)
- Thanks for the plans for traffic; we have things in the works, which is good.
- Hall
- Thanks to all the City Employees.
- More trees got trimmed and he thanks them.

How’s the hill, weather report
Back to it, How’s the hill? Passable. Fall is rocking; runny noses are abundant, with low temperatures in the high 40s, and highs around the 70s. The weather gurus are expecting some Rain heading our way this coming weekend and maybe into next Tuesday.
New Businesses
Nothing New was spotted. Ace Hardware is brewing. There is still an open slot at Publix in Bowie Commons. Other than that, I spotted nothing new this week, and I'm waiting to see what else is coming.
Farmers Market
Make sure to head to the Farmers Market every Saturday Morning, 8 AM to 12 PM (Not Earlier, as other posts have posted) at Meseck Chiropractor and Fairview Fresh Deli for their life-changing Apple Fritters, located down the road from Publix. So many good places to get local beef and pork, breads and treats, local fruits and vegetables, along with some hot sauce, fishing lures, and other holiday gifts this time of the year.
Brick and Mortar Highlight
Meseck Family Chiropractic
This is our local family-owned Chiropractic clinic here in Fairview. You cannot miss them if you go to Publix, the Farmers Market, or come to the Town Hall. They have received excellent reviews for years and have helped people gain mobility and reduce pain without pharmaceuticals. If you have some aches and pains or a hitch in your giddy-up you need to get over there and let them help you get “more better”. They have been supporters within our community and schools. You will see their sponsorships on so many things.

Local Business Highlight
Nafe Farms
https://www.facebook.com/p/Nafe-Farms-100044799746422/
This is one of our regular local Farmers Market vendors. Their beef is awesome, and more importantly, it’s local; you know where it comes from. You will see his truck and trailer, and you can get all kinds of beef cuts each weekend. If you also want a special order to get particular cuts or a partial cow, he can help you.

History Nugge
Jingo Road - Name Origin
Jingo is a previous name for the city of Fairview. Before being named Jingo in 1880, the city was called Christina. The unincorporated area was named Fairview in 1937 and became a city in 1959. Beginning in 1839, the Jingo Post Office was the social and cultural center of the Fairview area. Jingo Market and Deli is also named after the city’s former name. The word “jingo” means “Jesus” or “God” in the Basque language, which was used in the old expression “By Jingo” which the town was supposedly named after.

Faith Moment
This is another from One Church Home here in Fairview, TN. This one is from one of their Pastors, Steve Berger, who does a great job diving deep into the word and using his extensive world knowledge to connect the dots. This sermon continues the Story of David after he is now the King and how “kindness” played out with Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan and the son of Saul.
Mephibosheth and the Kindness of God | 2 Samuel 9 | Pastor Steve Berger https://youtu.be/zkzV8l6fxfw
Welcome back from that sermon, Steve Berger from our own One Church Home in Fairview. I had to read 1st Samuel and 2nd Samuel to understand more about this story because it fascinates me how much David went through and how much happened after Goliath that I didn’t learn growing up.

On the Donations front, nothing new from Fountain. We will have other payment options soon, just waiting for the tax man stuff to finish. We covered Fountain and Stripe Setup in the last episode, so a Donate button lets you use your Credit Card and other Payment methods through Stripe.
A monthly Supporter option is available for just $3.50 per month. If you haven’t seen the website, please take a look. A lot has been added since last week, and I think you will find it helpful, including the calendar, Church and Business List, and more. We will announce your first name or business name if you become a monthly supporter or make a donation of $19.59 or more, unless you include a note stating not to be anonymous (e.g., 'The year we were incorporated'). I hope some businesspeople will support this to make it even better! Be a producer, subscribe, and share with others about this Podcast to help get the news out to everyone in Fairview. I need to catch up on social media things to get the word out, but I’m trying to get the website and payments sorted first.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:06,920
Howdy, and welcome to episode six of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here
2
00:00:06,920 --> 00:00:09,980
in Fairview for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas.
3
00:00:10,160 --> 00:00:14,840
This is a weekly show released every Wednesday featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire.
4
00:00:15,580 --> 00:00:20,240
Local radio stations don't exist in small towns like ours, so we use Hello Fairview
5
00:00:20,240 --> 00:00:23,860
to fill that void with news related to Fairview that's relevant.
6
00:00:24,220 --> 00:00:29,460
This is a value for value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value
7
00:00:29,460 --> 00:00:33,680
you received. This is a concept founded by the podfather himself, Adam Curry, and his co-host,
8
00:00:33,760 --> 00:00:38,720
John C. Dvorak, on the No Agenda Show almost 18 years ago. Currently, this is just a one-man
9
00:00:38,720 --> 00:00:43,520
operation. So if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, job openings, please
10
00:00:43,520 --> 00:00:48,880
don't hesitate to let us know. You are a producer of the show. You are not a product. Your time and
11
00:00:48,880 --> 00:00:54,240
intention is not being sold to some advertiser for value. Some shows are going to be longer and
12
00:00:54,240 --> 00:00:58,300
some shows are going to be shorter, but we'll do my best to keep things relevant. Traffic time.
13
00:00:58,900 --> 00:01:00,600
It's kind of normal busy this time.
14
00:01:01,120 --> 00:01:04,140
Cumberland 100 was way better this week with a full week under its belt
15
00:01:04,140 --> 00:01:08,740
with the new Cumberland and 100 intersection, which was nice.
16
00:01:09,220 --> 00:01:14,240
There'll be more closures as we keep going down there.
17
00:01:14,240 --> 00:01:19,500
As you see, they're widening for that turn lane into the middle school.
18
00:01:20,480 --> 00:01:22,080
So we'll have to see how that keeps going.
19
00:01:22,460 --> 00:01:25,160
And there may still be more closures throughout the week here or there.
20
00:01:25,260 --> 00:01:26,820
There's nothing official on there.
21
00:01:26,820 --> 00:01:32,340
red light update we still have only three right now at old cox publix and walmart
22
00:01:32,340 --> 00:01:38,860
we'll still get one eventually at the city center entrance and one at cumberland and 100 intersection
23
00:01:38,860 --> 00:01:44,760
when that expansion occurs i'm not sure if either one of those two are going to hurt or help but
24
00:01:44,760 --> 00:01:49,160
you know with the school rush all i can hope is that the crossing guards can control that
25
00:01:49,160 --> 00:01:56,640
future projects we still have the road widening along with the cumberland 100 intersection
26
00:01:56,640 --> 00:02:02,000
a buoy so we'll have to see how that keeps going still trying to get some more t dot goodness there
27
00:02:02,000 --> 00:02:05,920
but there's definitely been a couple million dollars set aside and we have that in the show
28
00:02:05,920 --> 00:02:13,140
notes for this project way back in 2023 for the widening where it needs 55 million dollars and we
29
00:02:13,140 --> 00:02:19,780
have three so that means it's going to be a very long time we're growing uh county side notes the
30
00:02:19,780 --> 00:02:25,080
greenways plan survey is still open if uh between now and october 23rd so it closes this week
31
00:02:25,080 --> 00:02:31,340
the county will use this on how they design greenways and walking spaces horse trails all
32
00:02:31,340 --> 00:02:39,520
those types of things biking all that so house moving new segment here we got nine houses
33
00:02:39,520 --> 00:02:49,240
have been moved into this from september 29th through october 5th with the most expensive being
34
00:02:49,240 --> 00:02:59,680
$775,000 and the cheapest being $394,000 and the average being $542,000. Wowzers. The highlights,
35
00:02:59,840 --> 00:03:05,160
there was three on Cedar Crest, one in Otter Creek and the others in other subdivisions along
36
00:03:05,160 --> 00:03:10,220
with one on like Old National Highway. So back to our city news. On October 11th, there was a ribbon
37
00:03:10,220 --> 00:03:16,800
cutting at the Storybook Trail, which was an awesome interest. The police, Fairview Police
38
00:03:16,800 --> 00:03:22,740
still has their shop with a cop applications are still open and you can go by the police department
39
00:03:22,740 --> 00:03:27,760
8 a.m to 4 p.m to get that and it must be completed and they're ready to go so everything's
40
00:03:27,760 --> 00:03:34,060
got to be returned no later than 4 p.m on November 14th we continue to give thanks to our local
41
00:03:34,060 --> 00:03:38,620
businesses that have supported this cause throughout the years with fundraising and donations
42
00:03:38,620 --> 00:03:47,100
and just reach out to the city for that. It's good. So recap for last meetings. We've got all
43
00:03:47,100 --> 00:03:54,440
that in there. So the last meeting, there was no bonus zoning appeals. There was no planning
44
00:03:54,440 --> 00:04:02,460
commission since the last one, which was the 1014, which 183 homes were approved. And the board of
45
00:04:02,460 --> 00:04:08,960
commissioners was October 16th at 7 p.m. And so here's the recap of that meeting. Number one,
46
00:04:09,040 --> 00:04:12,600
there was no public comments. No one came for that one. There was just a couple of people in
47
00:04:12,600 --> 00:04:21,840
the room just hanging out. Police, less overtime than 2024, but there's more FTEs, so that makes
48
00:04:21,840 --> 00:04:26,940
perfect sense of why it would be like that. Training hours are down compared to the last
49
00:04:26,940 --> 00:04:33,160
2024 for the last three months. Arrests are around 70 a month. Citations in September
50
00:04:33,160 --> 00:04:40,200
were 137, but they average around 100. Auto accidents, there was no fatalities,
51
00:04:40,420 --> 00:04:44,420
and there's around 20 per month. Calls for service are around 1,000 per month,
52
00:04:44,420 --> 00:04:50,700
which is pretty wild. Two new police officers joined the force on the fire department update.
53
00:04:50,700 --> 00:05:00,040
call volume is increasing with an average of about 150 there was 165 calls in september of this month
54
00:05:00,040 --> 00:05:06,740
so that's uh we're zooming along i guess there's been 1285 calls this year there's been three
55
00:05:06,740 --> 00:05:14,040
search and rescues in buoy park uh did not know that uh five year five fires this uh this year so
56
00:05:14,040 --> 00:05:19,200
far and two of them were actually lithium ion batteries catching on fire average response time
57
00:05:19,200 --> 00:05:26,260
is eight minutes and 38 seconds. Average time on scene is 20 minutes and 56. Third quarter calls
58
00:05:26,260 --> 00:05:32,420
was 466. So pretty good chunk of them by the, you know, this last quarter here. Some calls are going
59
00:05:32,420 --> 00:05:36,780
further out in the county. They showed a heat map and how more and more people. And if you ever need
60
00:05:36,780 --> 00:05:42,840
smoke alarms installed in your home, just schedule a time, reach out to them at 615-799-3473.
61
00:05:43,840 --> 00:05:46,640
Training hours were over 1,500 hours for there.
62
00:05:47,260 --> 00:05:50,040
Several new employees are off probation, so they're ready to go.
63
00:05:50,160 --> 00:05:51,640
Their parking lot got resurfaced.
64
00:05:51,900 --> 00:05:56,780
They got to participate in the homecoming parade, which was great to see them kind of lead that
65
00:05:56,780 --> 00:05:59,960
and obviously help with the safety of that as they were going along.
66
00:05:59,960 --> 00:06:05,360
There was a fire hydrant on Adams Drive that wasn't working that Mr. Hall reported.
67
00:06:06,240 --> 00:06:11,620
I'm not sure how you would know that it's not working unless you try to turn it on.
68
00:06:11,620 --> 00:06:12,860
So that's kind of interesting.
69
00:06:13,900 --> 00:06:16,380
Finance and city manager report.
70
00:06:16,760 --> 00:06:22,100
The second meeting of each month will usually have this, which is the BOC budget summary
71
00:06:22,100 --> 00:06:23,940
financial report accounts balances.
72
00:06:24,560 --> 00:06:27,140
None of this stuff was posted to anything.
73
00:06:27,840 --> 00:06:29,300
You know, he just said you can come by.
74
00:06:29,740 --> 00:06:35,920
Carolyn Roberts brought up again to how these items are not being added in a timely manner.
75
00:06:36,040 --> 00:06:39,380
So no one can review these reports because they're just uploaded, you know, within a
76
00:06:39,380 --> 00:06:40,620
couple of minutes or the day of.
77
00:06:40,620 --> 00:06:45,880
um october is the last month for chipper service if you're putting stuff out there
78
00:06:45,880 --> 00:06:50,620
and you're in the city talked about the economic development report and it's going to need more
79
00:06:50,620 --> 00:06:55,440
time for the board review because it was just submitted today on the 16th too there was no old
80
00:06:55,440 --> 00:07:04,560
business the new business was a 5-0 unanimous for resolution 5725 which was basically updating a
81
00:07:04,560 --> 00:07:12,600
thoroughfare plan and allocating budget for a 1982 plan that talked about widening the roads
82
00:07:12,600 --> 00:07:16,220
and changing some of the flow on 100, which is kind of crazy that it's been that long.
83
00:07:17,000 --> 00:07:21,340
There was not enough details obviously talked about this. It was just kind of wham, bam, done.
84
00:07:21,980 --> 00:07:25,860
There was all the price matching. The details are in there even from our last show.
85
00:07:26,260 --> 00:07:33,560
So it's a 80% federal, 10% state, 10% local. So basically $10,000 to $15,000 for them to do some
86
00:07:33,560 --> 00:07:40,900
of this stuff. The next resolution, 5825, was a unanimous yes. This was related to the farmer's
87
00:07:40,900 --> 00:07:44,780
market. We got a lot more details. I wish some people from the farmer's market would have actually
88
00:07:44,780 --> 00:07:49,320
been there, but they, of course, don't advertise what they're actually going to talk about if you
89
00:07:49,320 --> 00:07:56,720
don't read the agenda. This is a $2.2 million plan. The city will need $1.1 million to match
90
00:07:56,720 --> 00:08:01,680
that. They can use the value of the land to do that. The company that they're using has helped
91
00:08:01,680 --> 00:08:06,520
20 other cities gets grants just like this. And since Fairview's never got one, they have a good
92
00:08:06,520 --> 00:08:12,680
chance of getting it. This is a 50-50 match and applications are going to open in January.
93
00:08:13,380 --> 00:08:19,800
Mayor Anderson talked a lot about the removable bollards and how they can allow traffic to come
94
00:08:19,800 --> 00:08:25,340
in and out to drop stuff off at the stage. Talked about the vendor size, which is eight foot by eight
95
00:08:25,340 --> 00:08:30,360
foot, and that there's around a 10 foot walkway in the center of the facility. Talked about some
96
00:08:30,360 --> 00:08:34,340
of the swells and walkways how they're going to have to work around that as they make those
97
00:08:34,340 --> 00:08:39,440
sidewalks and then they talked about parking when one of the first questions came up she talked
98
00:08:39,440 --> 00:08:44,300
about westview united methodist as a possible parking spot for vendors talked about a possible
99
00:08:44,300 --> 00:08:55,740
crosswalk on 100 or deer ridge and there are still future plans for that which include possible log
100
00:08:55,740 --> 00:09:00,320
house that has been torn down that the city has been storing when that time comes that they could
101
00:09:00,320 --> 00:09:05,760
reconstruct there talked about how we could expand the parking we talked about how the vendors could
102
00:09:05,760 --> 00:09:10,600
drop off stuff and park afterwards talked about how she cannot remember if there was like really
103
00:09:10,600 --> 00:09:14,860
any sound problems because sound problems got brought up the pond is a detention pond
104
00:09:14,860 --> 00:09:20,640
the farmer's market ended up where they were because the and and talked about how the current
105
00:09:20,640 --> 00:09:25,720
farmer's market is dangerous i don't really see that i think everyone's pretty courteous and kind
106
00:09:25,720 --> 00:09:28,320
and pays attention there, but I guess so.
107
00:09:28,980 --> 00:09:31,100
Fairview used to have it at the rec center,
108
00:09:31,220 --> 00:09:32,520
but was pushed out of the county
109
00:09:32,520 --> 00:09:34,440
because of liability and insurance concern,
110
00:09:34,560 --> 00:09:36,360
which is why it is where it is now
111
00:09:36,360 --> 00:09:38,680
at Messick Chiropractic and Fairview Deli Donuts.
112
00:09:40,260 --> 00:09:44,000
And if they don't want people to park at the rec center
113
00:09:44,000 --> 00:09:45,180
to go to this new facility
114
00:09:45,180 --> 00:09:47,580
because the county may have the same concerns.
115
00:09:48,160 --> 00:09:50,560
Mr. Buffalini talked about some sound interference,
116
00:09:50,560 --> 00:09:52,460
which is why that sound stuff got him up,
117
00:09:52,760 --> 00:09:54,260
how they oriented the thing.
118
00:09:54,260 --> 00:09:58,400
the grading was going to require some fill but they're also expanding the pond so some of that
119
00:09:58,400 --> 00:10:03,780
dirt can come out of there there's there will be speakers in the amphitheater and some lighting
120
00:10:03,780 --> 00:10:09,100
options it's not really easily expandable from the current plan because then it would be lopsided
121
00:10:09,100 --> 00:10:14,120
because you can't move the bathroom on the one side they talked about some trees and maybe moving
122
00:10:14,120 --> 00:10:19,700
some of them they talked about irrigation and it's up to the city asked about the maintenance of the
123
00:10:19,700 --> 00:10:25,260
wood and if they needed to stain or seal it and they said it was pressure treated which just means
124
00:10:25,260 --> 00:10:31,880
it's going to gray in a couple years and go from there there we have been paying for engineering
125
00:10:31,880 --> 00:10:38,400
fees of this out of our general fund bond and as they've been doing stuff so they've been paid as
126
00:10:38,400 --> 00:10:45,680
they go miss roberts brought up she thought about the vendors she was one person that thought about
127
00:10:45,680 --> 00:10:49,800
the vendors she was one of the second speakers which is great she brought up the lack of parking
128
00:10:49,800 --> 00:10:54,200
and the number of vendors and how there might not even be enough parking and how they have to run
129
00:10:54,200 --> 00:10:59,340
across 100 and all that kind of stuff she was also worried about the crosswalk safety and that there's
130
00:10:59,340 --> 00:11:07,260
only 14 spots left after the vendors park we also asked about who decided to rent it out the city
131
00:11:07,260 --> 00:11:15,540
will run that um and so there you know there's 24 slots each weekend i guess uh talked about
132
00:11:15,540 --> 00:11:19,980
removing the bus parking which was a great idea because bus could just drop off at the rec and
133
00:11:19,980 --> 00:11:24,680
then park at the rec center talked about more of the lighting on the paths and the vendors and how
134
00:11:24,680 --> 00:11:30,040
all that is and how we're committed to doing that um and then we talked about she also talked about
135
00:11:30,040 --> 00:11:38,280
how the grant, if we change the plan, if we can still do it, but if we don't build it, are we still
136
00:11:38,280 --> 00:11:45,220
committed with the engineering firm? And we're not, but we are bound to do this, especially when
137
00:11:45,220 --> 00:11:52,400
we use the land for collateral, that three acres, that has to be in perpetuity, a park to go from
138
00:11:52,400 --> 00:11:59,100
that. Mr. Hall thought the, what about the expansions are planned? He brought up that,
139
00:11:59,100 --> 00:12:02,020
and that's what prompted the discussion about the log cabin.
140
00:12:02,620 --> 00:12:06,700
And we talked about other grants, if we could apply for them for the sidewalks
141
00:12:06,700 --> 00:12:09,840
and other improvements that might be needed to make this a little bit better location,
142
00:12:10,240 --> 00:12:13,360
but that would complicate the grant.
143
00:12:14,680 --> 00:12:18,620
Mr. McDonald, Vice Mayor McDonald, brought up parking as his concern
144
00:12:18,620 --> 00:12:20,780
and noted the current market doesn't have that much parking
145
00:12:20,780 --> 00:12:22,460
but seems to be doing fine for years,
146
00:12:22,560 --> 00:12:24,800
talked about sidewalks from the other parking area,
147
00:12:25,320 --> 00:12:28,380
spoke about funding and how it's going to be good for the town,
148
00:12:28,380 --> 00:12:35,580
and asked if we should wait for the design to be done before moving forward or doing that.
149
00:12:35,700 --> 00:12:40,420
And the answer was, yes, you can move forward and there will be revisions just as site plans
150
00:12:40,420 --> 00:12:43,340
and everything like that is done because this is just the first revision.
151
00:12:43,720 --> 00:12:49,900
City manager talked about how this amphitheater could host around 250 to 300 people max.
152
00:12:50,420 --> 00:12:54,040
And obviously there's not enough parking, but there is a seven acre lot that the city owns
153
00:12:54,040 --> 00:12:57,760
200 yards down the road that could be used as overflow parking.
154
00:12:58,380 --> 00:13:02,760
The Parks Department will handle things just like they do Bowie Park to rent out a pavilion.
155
00:13:03,380 --> 00:13:08,820
This property, the land should be worth $600,000, which means they'll just have to come up with
156
00:13:08,820 --> 00:13:14,820
$700,000 to actually fund this all the way through between there.
157
00:13:15,340 --> 00:13:17,100
Or sorry, $500,000.
158
00:13:17,940 --> 00:13:22,200
City Codes talked about the new events tab that they're coming up with on the website
159
00:13:22,200 --> 00:13:26,960
where vendors can upload their documentation and other documents that are required to rent
160
00:13:26,960 --> 00:13:39,068
out spaces to be ready for this along with things they improving for the park this is the fear of the farmer market being hosted by the city where money will come out of the vendor pocket before they even made
161
00:13:41,328 --> 00:13:46,568
Talked about the fees and that those are still in process. So no estimations were given. So we
162
00:13:46,568 --> 00:13:53,788
don't know how far off this is from some of the others. So everything that we thought of
163
00:13:53,788 --> 00:14:02,128
before was still good to go um so we'll see how that kind of plans out uh the round table um mr
164
00:14:02,128 --> 00:14:07,428
buffalini talked about the pumpkin patch the lady jacket soccer team winning their thing one of the
165
00:14:07,428 --> 00:14:12,048
high school golf team members making it the state championship miss roberts on the round table
166
00:14:12,048 --> 00:14:17,288
thought thank the police and fire department so did miss anderson she talked about the water board
167
00:14:17,288 --> 00:14:21,968
and how it's at five o'clock on the second monday of each month and that the city has nothing to do
168
00:14:21,968 --> 00:14:31,328
with the water and that you can call 615-441-4188 for the water authority of Dixon County. If you
169
00:14:31,328 --> 00:14:35,508
have any questions about your bills and most people's bills that did go up that we're complaining
170
00:14:35,508 --> 00:14:40,928
about, we talked about last show was because it was a 29 day billing cycle before and a 40 day
171
00:14:40,928 --> 00:14:46,248
billing cycle before or after that, as they upgraded some of their systems, they talked about
172
00:14:46,248 --> 00:14:51,268
that everything's kind of digital. And if you have irrigation and you're doing stuff to your lawn,
173
00:14:51,268 --> 00:14:59,008
If you have a one-time fee of $1,000, you can set up a separate meter so you're not just paying for the sewage for that.
174
00:15:00,868 --> 00:15:10,228
She also thanked everyone that reached out to her because she wouldn't have known that there was an issue with the water authority or any of that without that because she hasn't seen her price go up.
175
00:15:11,828 --> 00:15:19,028
Mr. McDonald talked about the water prices and how that, and there was a paint bucket that fell out of a truck.
176
00:15:19,588 --> 00:15:25,208
This was at the Seven Hair Parlor and Old Cox and talked about how we might want to find the property,
177
00:15:25,448 --> 00:15:32,608
the owner of that paint that did it to help reimburse the property owner, Seven Hair Salon, that their parking lot messed up.
178
00:15:32,868 --> 00:15:36,988
It looks like that parking lot did get resealed, but you can still see the white trail on there.
179
00:15:37,548 --> 00:15:45,308
Wanted to be thankful for the plans that we have for the traffic plans and thoroughfare plans and how things are moving forward.
180
00:15:45,388 --> 00:15:46,208
So we're good to go there.
181
00:15:46,208 --> 00:15:55,348
Mr. Hall thanked the city employees and that more trees got trimmed, and he thanks them for that as we've been able to do that.
182
00:15:55,768 --> 00:15:58,608
Planning Commission, there's no new meetings until November 18th.
183
00:15:58,648 --> 00:16:02,468
Board of Commissioners, there's no new meetings until November 6th and 20th.
184
00:16:03,068 --> 00:16:06,768
October 28th is our Board of Commissioner Town Hall.
185
00:16:06,888 --> 00:16:08,248
That's when you want to come and talk to them.
186
00:16:09,188 --> 00:16:13,788
Parks and Recs is November 12th at 830 at the Historic Village.
187
00:16:13,788 --> 00:16:16,788
and around town coffees November 3rd.
188
00:16:17,268 --> 00:16:18,488
So we'll see all that going on.
189
00:16:19,128 --> 00:16:20,208
All right, state of Tennessee.
190
00:16:20,788 --> 00:16:24,388
The No King protests on the 18th appeared to have been a success.
191
00:16:24,528 --> 00:16:30,348
Around 33 towns with around 3,000 people and 8,000 people in Nashville estimated to be there,
192
00:16:30,648 --> 00:16:33,348
with national reporting estimated around 7 million.
193
00:16:33,488 --> 00:16:36,088
So just a couple percent of the population was there.
194
00:16:36,568 --> 00:16:38,748
It didn't seem like there was any major destruction.
195
00:16:38,908 --> 00:16:41,048
There was a couple arrests and stuff like that, which is good.
196
00:16:41,048 --> 00:16:45,188
So it means it stayed relatively peaceful, at least in our state.
197
00:16:45,548 --> 00:16:47,588
Memphis National Guard is still in the news.
198
00:16:47,708 --> 00:16:53,188
I've seen reports of 803 total arrests from September 29th through October 12th.
199
00:16:53,528 --> 00:16:58,968
And we still see notes of how lawmakers and judges and things like that are trying to block it.
200
00:16:59,068 --> 00:16:59,848
But it looks like it's going.
201
00:17:00,328 --> 00:17:02,588
School voucher program, we talked about that last time.
202
00:17:02,668 --> 00:17:06,368
Basically, it's going from $20,000 currently to $40,000.
203
00:17:06,548 --> 00:17:10,408
And this is a $7,300 voucher that goes from there.
204
00:17:10,408 --> 00:17:16,028
December 2nd will be the final special election for the 7th U.S. House seat.
205
00:17:16,868 --> 00:17:23,048
And so Afton-Bin for the Democrats and Matt Van Epps for the Republicans based on the primary results.
206
00:17:23,548 --> 00:17:30,808
The Music City loop is still being drilled, exploratory drilling and a little bit more construction on the entrance on the Nashville side.
207
00:17:31,848 --> 00:17:32,868
The bills.
208
00:17:33,808 --> 00:17:35,168
This is what we have for this week.
209
00:17:35,248 --> 00:17:36,628
Nothing super cool or detailed.
210
00:17:36,628 --> 00:17:57,728
There was only one joint meeting for the Joint Ways and Means Committee, but the basic title of this was that there is the Office of Victims Crimes 2015 Crimes Act, VOCA, Victims Assistance Formula Grant, which is $26,601,721.
211
00:17:58,168 --> 00:18:01,948
It's what they're going to talk about on October 23rd at 9 a.m.
212
00:18:02,708 --> 00:18:04,288
What is that going to do?
213
00:18:04,968 --> 00:18:06,168
It sounds exciting.
214
00:18:06,628 --> 00:18:07,108
How's the hill?
215
00:18:07,588 --> 00:18:10,208
Well, it's passable right now.
216
00:18:10,428 --> 00:18:11,268
Fall is rocking.
217
00:18:11,508 --> 00:18:16,128
Runny noses are abundant with low temperatures now in the 40s and highs in the 70s.
218
00:18:16,188 --> 00:18:22,568
The weather gurus are expecting a little bit of rain this weekend and maybe into next Tuesday.
219
00:18:23,668 --> 00:18:24,308
New businesses.
220
00:18:24,588 --> 00:18:25,568
Nothing new spotted.
221
00:18:25,788 --> 00:18:28,988
Ace Hardware still brewing up on the hill across from Tractor Supply Co.
222
00:18:29,448 --> 00:18:33,968
There's still an open slot at Publix, Bowie Commons, and at Bowie Meadows.
223
00:18:33,968 --> 00:18:36,928
where Cornerstone Financial and Papa John's and the Nail Salon are.
224
00:18:37,588 --> 00:18:39,628
Other than that, we're just waiting to see what happens.
225
00:18:40,148 --> 00:18:40,728
Farmer's Market.
226
00:18:41,488 --> 00:18:45,508
Make sure you visit the Farmer's Market every Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.,
227
00:18:45,508 --> 00:18:47,388
not earlier like other people may have posted,
228
00:18:47,548 --> 00:18:50,348
at Messick Chiropractic and Fairview Fresh Deli Donuts
229
00:18:50,348 --> 00:18:53,768
for their life-changing apple fritters and to get your back popped.
230
00:18:54,948 --> 00:18:56,708
Located down the road from Publix.
231
00:18:56,788 --> 00:19:00,308
There's so many good places to get local beef, pork, breads, treats, fruits,
232
00:19:00,308 --> 00:19:04,548
vegetables along with some hot sauce fishing lures and a lot of holiday gifts this time of
233
00:19:04,548 --> 00:19:09,528
year it's a lot of people that don't set up their year-round set up there right now so brick and
234
00:19:09,528 --> 00:19:15,128
mortar highlight we got messick family chiropractic this is our local family-owned chiropractic clinic
235
00:19:15,128 --> 00:19:19,688
here in fairview you cannot miss them if you go to public so the farmer's market or you come to
236
00:19:19,688 --> 00:19:24,368
town hall they've received excellent reviews over the years and help people gain mobility reduce
237
00:19:24,368 --> 00:19:29,488
pain without pharmaceuticals which is always great if you have any aches or pains or a hitch in your
238
00:19:29,488 --> 00:19:35,648
giddy up, you need to get over there and let them help you out to get more better. They have been
239
00:19:35,648 --> 00:19:41,348
supporters within our community and schools. If you see them, they're always on support for the
240
00:19:41,348 --> 00:19:46,608
theaters, for ball teams and sports teams and stuff like that. They're sponsoring so many things.
241
00:19:46,668 --> 00:19:52,568
They do a great job. Both of them are there are awesome. Local business highlight. So this is
242
00:19:52,568 --> 00:19:57,348
someone that's not a brick and mortar, which is Nafe Farms. This is one of our local farmers market
243
00:19:57,348 --> 00:20:01,448
vendors. Their beef is awesome. And more importantly, it's local. You know where it
244
00:20:01,448 --> 00:20:06,788
comes from. When you get something, it came from one cow, not 42 cows. You will see his truck and
245
00:20:06,788 --> 00:20:12,168
trailer and you can get all types of cuts of beef each weekend. And if you want a special order or
246
00:20:12,168 --> 00:20:16,848
particular cut, or if you want a partial or full cow, he can help you out. So definitely reach out
247
00:20:16,848 --> 00:20:21,948
to Mr. Nafe over there at the farmer's market. Job openings, basically the same as last time.
248
00:20:22,268 --> 00:20:26,488
We got a police officer opening, multiple positions at Walmart. Cornerstone Financial
249
00:20:26,488 --> 00:20:31,908
still needs a teller. Publix needs a pharmacy tech. Dunkin' Donuts needs a crew member. The
250
00:20:31,908 --> 00:20:37,308
Boys and Girls Club needs a member coordinator part-time. Both Subways need Subway sandwich
251
00:20:37,308 --> 00:20:44,108
artists. The Pearl needs a caregiver, assisted living and memory care person. Taco Bell needs a
252
00:20:44,108 --> 00:20:49,228
food champion to help closing. Pizza Hut needs a team member. Sonic needs a crew member. And
253
00:20:49,228 --> 00:20:55,868
McDonald's needs a floor supervisor. If you have any others, you know, job openings, let us know.
254
00:20:55,868 --> 00:21:02,668
history nugget um let's talk about you know jingo road uh which is you know a good one
255
00:21:02,668 --> 00:21:08,388
jingo road is the previous name of the city of fairview if you didn't know before being named
256
00:21:08,388 --> 00:21:16,668
jingo in 1880 the city was called christiana or christina this the unincorporated area was
257
00:21:16,668 --> 00:21:24,708
fairview in 1937 and became a city in 1959 beginning in 1839 the jingo post office was
258
00:21:24,708 --> 00:21:26,908
the social and cultural center of Fairview.
259
00:21:27,408 --> 00:21:31,408
Jingo Market and Deli was also named as the city's former name.
260
00:21:32,028 --> 00:21:38,568
The word Jingo means Jesus or God in the Basque language, which I did not know, which was
261
00:21:38,568 --> 00:21:43,528
used as the old expression of by Jingo, which the town was supposedly named after.
262
00:21:43,908 --> 00:21:46,568
So by God, cool history nugget for the day.
263
00:21:47,008 --> 00:21:48,328
Upcoming events recap.
264
00:21:48,668 --> 00:21:51,668
Jingo Java's fall market on the 18th was a success.
265
00:21:51,668 --> 00:21:56,988
and i didn't know until the day of i saw a post on fairview then and now about the fairview jackets
266
00:21:56,988 --> 00:22:01,528
youth wrestling was going to be there they were making hot dogs and chips and stuff like that
267
00:22:01,528 --> 00:22:07,808
that's all the doughy duos there a jewelry vendor and a couple other vendors that were
268
00:22:07,808 --> 00:22:14,828
settling some of the metal things uh the uh that you hang and little grills the middle school glow
269
00:22:14,828 --> 00:22:24,828
dance was a success um and uh new events so we still have um tonight uh or the 21st october 21st
270
00:22:24,828 --> 00:22:32,468
here uh from 5 30 to 8 is the middle tennessee veterans coalition at dixon crosspoint um and so
271
00:22:32,468 --> 00:22:38,848
that will be good for our veterans and the city still has their trunk retreat on october 25th
272
00:22:38,848 --> 00:22:44,228
coming up this weekend from 4 to 6 p.m uh the city has the movie in the park event right after
273
00:22:44,228 --> 00:22:47,628
and it's Monsters, Inc. at 6 p.m. on the 25th also.
274
00:22:48,268 --> 00:22:52,308
Dixon has their Veterans Day parade November 9th in downtown Dixon at 10 a.m.
275
00:22:53,208 --> 00:22:56,028
On November 10th, 2025, too.
276
00:22:57,228 --> 00:23:00,308
Marine Corps has its 250th birthday, Devil Dogs.
277
00:23:01,568 --> 00:23:06,748
Franklin will have its Veterans Day parade on November 11th at 11 a.m.
278
00:23:07,368 --> 00:23:12,308
The town on November 15th will have its fall market at the high school.
279
00:23:12,308 --> 00:23:17,068
Uh, so if you're looking for some kind of farmer's market, local gifts and stuff, uh,
280
00:23:17,068 --> 00:23:19,648
the fall market at the high school is a great place to go.
281
00:23:20,088 --> 00:23:23,748
City Christmas tree is on December 5th, uh, at 5 PM.
282
00:23:23,748 --> 00:23:28,568
The Christmas parade is December 6th at 10, um, upcoming meetings, just like we talked
283
00:23:28,568 --> 00:23:31,488
about the board of commissioner town hall is the 28th.
284
00:23:31,488 --> 00:23:36,288
And then the next one's the sixth, uh, parks and ranch landscape, uh, will be at the triangle
285
00:23:36,288 --> 00:23:41,268
school, November 3rd board of commissioners town hall will be on the 6th at 7 PM.
286
00:23:41,268 --> 00:23:43,128
and no agenda has been posted to any of these.
287
00:23:44,008 --> 00:23:47,308
And so we'll have to see how that all kind of pans out there.
288
00:23:49,448 --> 00:23:52,728
Then for the kids, Fairview is still a thriving,
289
00:23:52,908 --> 00:23:57,628
a lot of numerous places for your kids to go do things and activities and sports.
290
00:23:58,008 --> 00:24:03,828
There's a thriving Girl Scouts and Scouts BSA programs for elementary school and middle and high.
291
00:24:04,288 --> 00:24:08,428
If someone's trying to get their Eagle Scout or get their gold award on the Girl Scout side,
292
00:24:08,848 --> 00:24:10,848
there are many recreation and travel teams here.
293
00:24:10,848 --> 00:24:18,128
A lot of sports, if you haven't noticed, there is Lala's Dance Studio and Elevate Gymnastics and Cheer, if you're into those things.
294
00:24:18,768 --> 00:24:24,488
And even some Ninja Warrior Course stuff is starting to be offered at Elevate Gymnastics, so that's kind of cool.
295
00:24:25,068 --> 00:24:28,068
I'm really excited to see what their first summer, what they're going to do.
296
00:24:28,528 --> 00:24:34,668
There's also an excellent Taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu place that teaches a lot more than just moves called Vigilance Martial Arts on 96.
297
00:24:34,668 --> 00:24:43,028
we have a great wrestling program with a lot of summer options if you're into that and they have
298
00:24:43,028 --> 00:24:48,128
them from kindergarten all the way up and the fairview titans junior pro cheer is heading to
299

00:25:12,808 --> 00:25:19,048
fairview track retreat was a success there and one thing that bubbled up on fairview then and now
304
00:25:19,048 --> 00:25:23,288

318
00:26:43,448 --> 00:26:49,228
Jacket news. Just like Mr. Buffalini said, the Lady Jacket soccer team are 17-0,
319
00:26:49,228 --> 00:26:55,808
even beating Creekwood 10-0 and Sycamore 7-1.
320
00:26:57,148 --> 00:26:59,208
They let them at least get one point on that one.
321
00:26:59,688 --> 00:27:02,188
The next regional game is coming up.
322
00:27:02,188 --> 00:27:05,848
It was this week on the 21st for the regional semifinals, so we'll see that.
323
00:27:06,228 --> 00:27:22,396
There a lot of team members that won individual awards for all district team district defense district goalkeeper all tournament team and district most valuable players So congratulations to that whole team for an awesome season and really showing how much work they put into this sport
324
00:27:22,696 --> 00:27:30,796
The fall concert was this week, which had the choir, the honors orchestra, concert orchestra, and concert band.
325
00:27:30,796 --> 00:27:37,436
The pumpkin patch is still at the Apex Bank until Halloween from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to go get your goodies.
326
00:27:37,596 --> 00:27:42,816
This is to fundraise for the FHS Athletic Committee for all their upcoming activities.
327
00:27:43,256 --> 00:27:49,956
The cross-country team was wrapping up the MSCCA Championship on October 18th at Buckner Park.
328
00:27:50,596 --> 00:27:56,556
The fall market, just like we said, is November 15th from 3 to 4 or 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
329
00:27:56,896 --> 00:27:59,776
This is a great place to get your Christmas shopping done and a lot of stuff.
330
00:27:59,776 --> 00:28:10,216
Socktober is still going on with NHS and the Beta Club, and they're collecting socks to give to Grace Works until this week, October 24th.
331
00:28:10,336 --> 00:28:13,476
PSAT will be administered on October 23rd.
332
00:28:13,996 --> 00:28:18,936
And just like we talked about before, every Friday this year, Kona Ice and Tom's Coffee will be there.
333
00:28:19,476 --> 00:28:24,156
Senior portraits and senior ads are due by November 21st.
334
00:28:24,496 --> 00:28:25,836
So get those in.
335
00:28:25,896 --> 00:28:26,636
Those are always fun.
336
00:28:27,236 --> 00:28:34,276
The ASVAB, which is the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, is scheduled for December 9th at 8 a.m. in the Learning Lab.
337
00:28:34,356 --> 00:28:36,736
If you're thinking about joining the military, this is a must-have.
338
00:28:37,116 --> 00:28:40,476
This score will determine what jobs you can pick from in each branch.
339
00:28:41,556 --> 00:28:50,176
October 24th, Cheatham County will have a home game in Waverly Central, a home game on October 30th for football.
340
00:28:50,516 --> 00:28:56,496
Looks like the high school bowling team is rolling with a couple practices already down.
341
00:28:56,636 --> 00:29:00,756
and there's practices that were on the 21st and then on the 28th.
342
00:29:00,756 --> 00:29:02,936
So if you're interested, it looks like you still have time to join.
343
00:29:03,256 --> 00:29:07,136
You'll be making trips to Thunder Alley and Dixon to get your roll on.
344
00:29:07,836 --> 00:29:12,196
The construction and ag classes have both been rocking,
345
00:29:12,336 --> 00:29:16,356
so keep an eye out for some hunting blinds and dog houses from there,
346
00:29:16,616 --> 00:29:20,716
along with other FFA events that the ag class will be participating in.
347
00:29:21,116 --> 00:29:25,556
There's going to be a NASP archery team underneath the ROTC team.
348
00:29:25,556 --> 00:29:30,616
If you're into archery, this is going to be a great way to compete and help and show your school spirit.
349
00:29:31,516 --> 00:29:39,916
If you have a student who's going to start driving this year, you need to email your principal and get a schoolology link to checkpoint driver's training.
350
00:29:40,176 --> 00:29:44,776
And you also have to get your parking pass, which is $15 a year.
351
00:29:45,396 --> 00:29:53,696
There's also some fundraiser links in the show notes, the homecoming highlights on YouTube that the film team made, which is great, and links to that.
352
00:29:53,696 --> 00:30:00,276
So faith moment. This is one from One Church Home here in Fairview. This is one of their pastors,
353
00:30:00,456 --> 00:30:05,916
Steve Berger, who does a great job diving into word and using his extensive world knowledge to
354
00:30:05,916 --> 00:30:12,396
connect relevant history to current events and everything in between. This sermon continues the
355
00:30:12,396 --> 00:30:18,816
story of David that we've had another segment on before a couple shows ago after he is now the king
356
00:30:18,816 --> 00:30:25,656
and how he is using kindness and how, I'm not going to be able to say this,
357
00:30:26,296 --> 00:30:33,596
Mepho, Mepho's Beth, the son of Jonathan and the son of Saul. And so we'll break to that real quick
358
00:30:33,596 --> 00:30:37,596
and you'll learn how to say it the correct way by him because I definitely can't.
359
00:30:38,276 --> 00:30:43,396
All right. So we've been talking about King David a whole bunch, and let me give you some,
360
00:30:43,396 --> 00:30:52,236
some intro as to where we are and that intro includes some review. So right after David whips
361
00:30:52,236 --> 00:30:59,976
Goliath, he makes an unlikely friend. And the unlikely friend is this guy by the name of Jonathan.
362
00:31:00,556 --> 00:31:08,496
And why is it unlikely? Well, it's unlikely because Jonathan is King Saul's son. And so here's what's
363
00:31:08,496 --> 00:31:15,016
going on politically, right? What's happening politically is this. Saul is on his way down.
364
00:31:15,556 --> 00:31:19,536
He's crashing and burning. He's tormented by devils. We've seen all that in the last
365
00:31:19,536 --> 00:31:25,796
several weeks since we started this. And David's political star is on the rise. He's been anointed
366
00:31:25,796 --> 00:31:31,816
to be king already. He's waiting for all of that to be worked out in God's timing. But it's obvious
367
00:31:31,816 --> 00:31:38,096
he's the heir to the throne. Now, in those days, as Pastor Ian has told us in times past,
368
00:31:38,496 --> 00:31:49,956
When that happens, when there's a new king come to town, every single person in the old king's family would be wiped out.
369
00:31:51,036 --> 00:31:52,176
They would just kill him.
370
00:31:52,256 --> 00:31:53,756
That was the way that it was.
371
00:31:53,756 --> 00:31:57,876
And not just the king's immediate children, but like the whole household.
372
00:31:58,496 --> 00:32:03,036
Anybody that might have any claim to the throne would be killed
373
00:32:03,036 --> 00:32:10,356
so as they could never plan a revolt, a takeover of the throne
374
00:32:10,356 --> 00:32:12,036
and get it back for their family.
375
00:32:12,856 --> 00:32:17,316
And so that's kind of all this story behind the story that's going on.
376
00:32:17,456 --> 00:32:24,196
And so for David and Jonathan to become friends is highly, highly unlikely.
377
00:32:24,196 --> 00:32:33,856
it's even more unlikely that they make a covenant together they don't know what the future is going
378
00:32:33,856 --> 00:32:39,136
to behold we do because we've read it but you got to insert yourself into their time frame
379
00:32:39,136 --> 00:32:44,576
they don't know what's about to happen and so they make a covenant with one another and say
380
00:32:44,576 --> 00:32:50,996
basically David says hey if I don't make it I want you to make sure you take care of my family
381
00:32:51,716 --> 00:32:56,316
And Jonathan says, dude, if I don't make it, I want to make sure you take care of my family.
382
00:32:56,596 --> 00:33:00,176
Let's not do the normal thing and wipe each other's family out.
383
00:33:00,376 --> 00:33:04,356
Let's do a God thing and actually take care of each other's family.
384
00:33:04,356 --> 00:33:14,816
So in 1 Samuel chapter 18, verses 1 through 3, and then I'm going to jump straight away into chapter 20, verses 14 through 17,
385
00:33:15,116 --> 00:33:17,276
we see this covenant that's made.
386
00:33:17,396 --> 00:33:18,676
Really, really important.
387
00:33:18,676 --> 00:33:22,096
this agreement between Jonathan and David.
388
00:33:23,176 --> 00:33:27,096
Now, when he had finished speaking to Saul,
389
00:33:27,336 --> 00:33:31,596
the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David,
390
00:33:31,756 --> 00:33:34,516
and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
391
00:33:35,256 --> 00:33:37,296
Saul took him that day, speaking of David,
392
00:33:37,396 --> 00:33:40,136
and would not let him go home to his father's house anymore.
393
00:33:40,136 --> 00:33:44,656
Then Jonathan and David, listen, they made a covenant
394
00:33:44,656 --> 00:33:48,516
because he loved him as his own soul.
395
00:33:48,676 --> 00:33:56,116
chapter 20, verse 14 now, and you shall not only show me, this is Jonathan and David talking right
396
00:33:56,116 --> 00:34:01,096
now. Saul's tried to kill David and they've made their covenant and now they're going to
397
00:34:01,096 --> 00:34:07,376
strengthen it even more. He says, and you shall not only show me, look at this, the kindness of
398
00:34:07,376 --> 00:34:14,376
the Lord while I still live that I may not die, but you shall not cut off your kindness from my
399
00:34:14,376 --> 00:34:20,296
house forever. Okay, there's that covenant I'm talking about. No, not when the Lord has cut off
400
00:34:20,296 --> 00:34:27,476
every one of the enemies of David from the face of the earth. So Jonathan made a covenant with
401
00:34:27,476 --> 00:34:34,516
the house of David saying, let the Lord require it at the hand of David's enemies. Now Jonathan
402
00:34:34,516 --> 00:34:42,516
again, again, caused David to vow. Vow what? To vow to this covenant because he loved him,
403
00:34:42,516 --> 00:34:45,876
for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
404
00:34:45,876 --> 00:34:52,056
So here's this covenant agreement that they have with one another.
405
00:34:52,716 --> 00:34:56,336
And you see this little interesting phrase attached to it.
406
00:34:56,736 --> 00:34:59,136
And it's the kindness of the Lord.
407
00:35:00,056 --> 00:35:03,216
This covenant is described as the kindness of the Lord.
408
00:35:03,396 --> 00:35:08,776
A little phrase that we could read over far too quickly and miss out the message.
409
00:35:09,156 --> 00:35:10,336
The message is this.
410
00:35:10,336 --> 00:35:17,816
This is a covenant that is rooted in the ways of God and how God treats people.
411
00:35:18,636 --> 00:35:20,256
This isn't just a regular covenant.
412
00:35:20,656 --> 00:35:27,476
This is a covenant that is the aroma and the fragrance of the goodness and the mercy of God.
413
00:35:27,776 --> 00:35:27,936
Okay?
414
00:35:28,296 --> 00:35:29,776
So it's the kindness of the Lord.
415
00:35:30,576 --> 00:35:36,316
15 to 20 years pass, and Saul and Jonathan have died in battle.
416
00:35:36,776 --> 00:35:38,456
David has become king.
417
00:35:38,456 --> 00:35:44,516
And now we move into 2 Samuel chapter 9 verses 1 through 13.
418
00:35:44,936 --> 00:35:47,076
Okay, here we go, all 13 verses.
419
00:35:47,876 --> 00:35:59,856
Now David said, is there still anyone who is left of the house of Saul that I might show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?
420
00:36:00,636 --> 00:36:04,056
And there was a servant of the house of Saul whose name was Ziba.
421
00:36:04,056 --> 00:36:07,956
So when they had called him to David, the king said to him,
422
00:36:08,336 --> 00:36:08,996
Are you Ziba?
423
00:36:09,136 --> 00:36:10,776
And he said, At your service.
424
00:36:11,456 --> 00:36:12,416
Then the king said,
425
00:36:12,836 --> 00:36:18,656
Is there not still someone of the house of Saul to whom I may show what?
426
00:36:19,136 --> 00:36:21,176
The kindness of God.
427
00:36:21,496 --> 00:36:22,196
There it is again.
428
00:36:24,516 --> 00:36:27,016
Is there someone there that I can show the kindness of God?
429
00:36:27,016 --> 00:36:28,656
And Ziba said to the king,
430
00:36:28,656 --> 00:36:34,316
there's still a son of Jonathan who is lame in his feet.
431
00:36:34,936 --> 00:36:37,336
So the king said to him, where is he?
432
00:36:37,676 --> 00:36:41,416
And Ziba said to the king, indeed, he is in the house of Maker,
433
00:36:41,516 --> 00:36:43,936
the son of Amiel in Lodabar.
434
00:36:44,556 --> 00:36:47,856
Then King David sent and brought him out of the house of Maker,
435
00:36:47,996 --> 00:36:50,476
the son of Amiel from Lodabar.
436
00:36:50,996 --> 00:36:55,076
Now when Mephibosheth, this is the guy who lives in Lodabar.
437
00:36:55,476 --> 00:36:57,956
Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan,
438
00:36:57,956 --> 00:37:01,076
then the son of Saul had come to David, look at this,
439
00:37:01,436 --> 00:37:04,996
he fell on his face and prostrated himself.
440
00:37:05,556 --> 00:37:07,896
Then David said, Mephibosheth?
441
00:37:08,336 --> 00:37:10,696
And he answered, here is your servant.
442
00:37:11,256 --> 00:37:15,616
So David said to him, do not fear.
443
00:37:15,616 --> 00:37:19,156
It was obvious Mephibosheth is terrified
444
00:37:19,156 --> 00:37:24,136
by what the king might do based on what culture was at that time.
445
00:37:25,116 --> 00:37:25,776
Don't fear.
446
00:37:25,776 --> 00:37:41,996
I will surely show you what? Kindness for Jonathan your father's sake and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather and you shall eat bread at my table continually.
447
00:37:41,996 --> 00:37:46,616
Then he, Mephibosheth, bowed himself and said,
448
00:37:47,056 --> 00:37:51,676
What is your servant that you should look upon such a dead dog as I?
449
00:37:52,236 --> 00:37:56,216
And the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said to him,
450
00:37:56,756 --> 00:38:02,256
I have given to your master's son all that belong to Saul and to his house.
451
00:38:02,636 --> 00:38:08,296
You, therefore, and your sons and your servants shall work the land for him,
452
00:38:08,296 --> 00:38:14,716
and you shall bring in the harvest that your master's son may have food to eat.
453
00:38:15,476 --> 00:38:22,476
But Mephibosheth, your master's son, shall eat bread at my table always.
454
00:38:23,656 --> 00:38:26,576
Now Ziba had 15 sons and 20 servants.
455
00:38:27,096 --> 00:38:33,196
Then Ziba said to the king, according to all that my lord the king has commanded his servant,
456
00:38:33,676 --> 00:38:35,776
so will your servant do.
457
00:38:35,776 --> 00:38:45,116
As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table like one of the king's sons.
458
00:38:46,076 --> 00:38:49,276
Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Micah.
459
00:38:49,876 --> 00:38:54,596
And all who dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants of Mephibosheth.
460
00:38:54,596 --> 00:39:03,996
So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem for he ate continually at the king's table and he
461
00:39:03,996 --> 00:39:08,836
was lame in both of his feet.
462
00:39:08,836 --> 00:39:10,256
We got to pray real quick.
463
00:39:10,256 --> 00:39:15,336
Father in the name of Jesus we pray that the Holy Spirit would speak to each and every
464
00:39:15,336 --> 00:39:16,836
one of us.
465
00:39:16,836 --> 00:39:21,516
Lord for those of us who know and love you and are confident of our salvation may today
466
00:39:21,516 --> 00:39:27,516
be a sweet precious reminder of the kindness of God and Lord if there's even
467
00:39:27,516 --> 00:39:33,396
one person here this morning that isn't sure of their relationship with you I
468
00:39:33,396 --> 00:39:40,336
pray that by your spirit you would draw them to the saving grace of Jesus to the
469
00:39:40,336 --> 00:39:46,416
kindness of God found in him that they might say yes to your mercy and your
470
00:39:46,416 --> 00:39:56,316
salvation in Jesus name Amen and Amen all right here we go the kindness of God the kindness
471
00:39:56,316 --> 00:40:05,216
of God is a covenant as we saw between people to do what to benefit people that's originally
472
00:40:05,216 --> 00:40:12,416
what this was about it was a covenant between people Jonathan and David to benefit people
473
00:40:12,416 --> 00:40:18,136
their families throughout all of human history. David and Jonathan made that covenant that
474
00:40:18,136 --> 00:40:24,476
they would forever provide and protect one another's families. This covenant again was
475
00:40:24,476 --> 00:40:32,476
characterized by the phrase the kindness of God. Every time it's brought up in first Samuel
476
00:40:32,476 --> 00:40:39,896
18 and again in second Samuel 9 it's referred to as the kindness of God because this covenant
477
00:40:39,896 --> 00:40:58,204
represents the type of kindness that God himself shows to people And they recognize that this is an elevated kindness it is an elevated mercy it is an elevated covenant this is not the norm this is otherly this is
478
00:40:58,204 --> 00:41:05,524
otherworldly this is higher and more beautiful and powerful and loving and gracious this covenant is
479
00:41:05,524 --> 00:41:11,464
the kindness of God now friends I don't know how many of you have read this story before but if
480
00:41:11,464 --> 00:41:18,664
you ever considered that this covenant between them David and Jonathan totally foreshadows
481
00:41:18,664 --> 00:41:24,704
and this is the part that gets me all worked up totally foreshadows the covenant between
482
00:41:24,704 --> 00:41:33,784
God and man through the person of Jesus Christ it completely is a foreshadowing of what God
483
00:41:33,784 --> 00:41:41,384
would do a thousand years later when Christ came to the earth and offered us the new covenant.
484
00:41:41,984 --> 00:41:50,864
So I want to look into some specifics today of who this kindness is for and what it accomplishes.
485
00:41:50,864 --> 00:41:55,844
This is going to be crystal clear as we go through this. So get ready.
486
00:41:55,844 --> 00:42:08,084
The kindness of God is for the running get ready the running the fallen and the lame that's you
487
00:42:08,084 --> 00:42:13,004
the kindness of God is for when you go Steve running what are you talking about how do we
488
00:42:13,004 --> 00:42:20,924
know this is for people who are running because in 2nd Samuel chapter 4 verse 4 it gives us the
489
00:42:20,924 --> 00:42:30,344
story of why Mephibosheth was lame in his feet. David becomes king, word gets out, and again,
490
00:42:30,344 --> 00:42:38,244
operating in normal cultural fear, not understanding everything. Mephibosheth is five years old.
491
00:42:39,024 --> 00:42:47,504
His nurse scoops him up and starts to run with him to protect and to save his life because they
492
00:42:47,504 --> 00:42:54,224
don't understand the will of the king and when you don't understand the will of the king you run from
493
00:42:54,224 --> 00:43:05,144
them so they're running from the king and she trips and falls drops young Mephibosheth does some kind
494
00:43:05,144 --> 00:43:12,224
of damage to both of his feet breaks them we don't know but he ends up then being lame in both of his
495
00:43:12,224 --> 00:43:17,624
feet and the scripture tells us repeatedly and he was lame in his feet
496
00:43:17,624 --> 00:43:21,644
and he was lame in his feet because there's something tied to that but I
497
00:43:21,644 --> 00:43:26,384
want to first start by saying that the kindness of God is for the running it's
498
00:43:26,384 --> 00:43:32,624
for those who fall it's for the lame this is a type he is a type I should say
499
00:43:32,624 --> 00:43:39,464
of all of mankind running from God falling in our human nature and lame as
500
00:43:39,464 --> 00:43:45,464
a result of it Ephesians chapter 2 verses 1 through 3 tells us that prior to coming
501
00:43:45,464 --> 00:43:52,404
to Christ our spiritual condition every one of us we are dead in sin we are under satanic
502
00:43:52,404 --> 00:44:04,844
influence and we are by nature children of wrath fallen lame sinful under satanic influence
503
00:44:04,844 --> 00:44:12,924
broken as we can be just like Mephibosheth. But there's a covenant and there's a king
504
00:44:12,924 --> 00:44:24,804
who said in your fallenness, in your fleeing from me, in your broken lameness, I want you.
505
00:44:24,804 --> 00:44:36,524
I want you next the kindness of God is for those living in barren unfruitful
506
00:44:36,524 --> 00:44:45,184
desolate places verse 5 and 6 tells us that Mephibosheth lives where in load to
507
00:44:45,184 --> 00:44:52,044
bar and what is load to bar literally mean when it translates barren unfruitful
508
00:44:52,044 --> 00:45:01,804
and desolate you see the picture of this kid he's broken he's lame he's weak and hobbling
509
00:45:01,804 --> 00:45:09,364
around and he lives in a place that's barren and unfruitful and desolate like Mephibosheth
510
00:45:09,364 --> 00:45:20,804
doesn't have it going on he's not in a good place at all he's hiding in exile even beloved
511
00:45:20,804 --> 00:45:34,564
represents to us those who are merely existing and not actually living there's a huge difference
512
00:45:35,524 --> 00:45:43,204
there are people all around the world living in barren unfruitful desolate places they might live
513
00:45:43,204 --> 00:45:50,484
in the biggest mansion but they are barren unfruitful and desolate inside themselves inside
514
00:45:50,484 --> 00:45:55,824
their own hearts they are just existing they are not living the abundant life
515
00:45:55,824 --> 00:46:02,724
that Jesus came to give us I love this second Peter chapter 1 verse 8 after
516
00:46:02,724 --> 00:46:07,824
giving us this long list of things of what it's like to walk with God we get
517
00:46:07,824 --> 00:46:12,324
to second Peter 1 8 he says for if these things are yours and abound if you'll do
518
00:46:12,324 --> 00:46:16,824
these things these this way of life that God offers us you will neither be
519
00:46:16,824 --> 00:46:24,524
be barren or unfruitful. You're not going to be barren and unfruitful if you will come
520
00:46:24,524 --> 00:46:34,764
out of Lodabar and meet the king whose intentions for you are good. They're good. But you got
521
00:46:34,764 --> 00:46:41,584
to come out of that place. You got to participate in the newness of life. You've got to say
522
00:46:41,584 --> 00:46:51,264
enough of just existing man i want to live i want to live this is what's happening here next
523
00:46:53,264 --> 00:46:59,344
the kindness of god is for the humble it's for the humble
524
00:47:02,224 --> 00:47:10,544
in verse 6 and verse 8 you see in mephibosheth a humility that was required
525
00:47:10,544 --> 00:47:15,624
in order to experience the kindness of God.
526
00:47:16,364 --> 00:47:20,484
He comes in before the king and fell on his face, it says, before David.
527
00:47:21,564 --> 00:47:24,924
And then it emphasizes it more by saying he prostrated himself.
528
00:47:25,444 --> 00:47:30,084
And then it emphasizes more because he refers to himself as David's servant.
529
00:47:30,844 --> 00:47:34,124
And then to emphasize it more, it says that he bowed down.
530
00:47:34,124 --> 00:47:39,724
And then to emphasize it more, he refers to himself as a dead dog.
531
00:47:40,544 --> 00:47:49,884
David, what do you even want to do with a dead dog like me?
532
00:47:50,884 --> 00:47:52,144
I got nothing.
533
00:47:52,624 --> 00:47:54,664
I've got nothing to offer you.
534
00:47:54,764 --> 00:47:58,384
I've got nothing to strengthen your calling or your kingdom.
535
00:47:58,384 --> 00:48:02,464
I don't bring anything to this relationship at all.
536
00:48:03,384 --> 00:48:05,244
I live in low to bar.
537
00:48:05,424 --> 00:48:08,604
I'm barren and unfruitful, and I'm lame in my feet.
538
00:48:08,604 --> 00:48:11,104
I can't work the fields.
539
00:48:11,224 --> 00:48:12,264
I can't hold a job.
540
00:48:12,484 --> 00:48:13,524
I got nothing.
541
00:48:14,704 --> 00:48:17,224
And so he humbles himself.
542
00:48:18,604 --> 00:48:23,984
He's a picture of every single person
543
00:48:23,984 --> 00:48:26,904
that needs to humble themselves
544
00:48:26,904 --> 00:48:31,904
if they're going to experience the kindness of God.
545
00:48:33,784 --> 00:48:34,604
Humility.
546
00:48:35,204 --> 00:48:38,024
Not something that we're known for in our day today.
547
00:48:38,604 --> 00:48:41,164
We don't want to be humble.
548
00:48:41,684 --> 00:48:43,224
We want to be prideful and arrogant.
549
00:48:43,224 --> 00:48:47,884
We want to make much of ourselves.
550
00:48:48,844 --> 00:48:51,144
It's contrary to the kingdom, beloved.
551
00:48:51,964 --> 00:48:56,164
James 4, 6 says that God gives more grace.
552
00:48:56,304 --> 00:48:59,644
Therefore, he says God resists the proud.
553
00:49:00,084 --> 00:49:01,564
But what does he do for the humble?
554
00:49:01,844 --> 00:49:03,264
He gives them grace.
555
00:49:04,724 --> 00:49:07,824
Grace is, you know, we call it unmerited favor,
556
00:49:07,824 --> 00:49:09,744
but that's a small part of it.
557
00:49:10,484 --> 00:49:13,224
Grace is really divine enablement.
558
00:49:13,444 --> 00:49:19,504
It is God doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves.
559
00:49:21,284 --> 00:49:26,744
And if you want to see the difference between humility and grace
560
00:49:26,744 --> 00:49:31,564
and pride and resistance, you just think about it like this.
561
00:49:32,064 --> 00:49:35,964
If you think about God and his awesome power and majesty
562
00:49:35,964 --> 00:49:40,404
with some prideful, arrogant little cuss
563
00:49:40,404 --> 00:49:43,504
who's trying to make his way and do his own thing
564
00:49:43,504 --> 00:49:46,084
and God just has his hand on his forehead.
565
00:49:47,824 --> 00:49:48,904
Holding him back.
566
00:49:50,304 --> 00:49:52,044
Resisting the proud.
567
00:49:52,764 --> 00:49:55,504
So you can kick and stamp and try to do everything
568
00:49:55,504 --> 00:49:57,524
that you want to do and have your own way
569
00:49:57,524 --> 00:49:58,824
and throw a hissy fit,
570
00:49:59,104 --> 00:50:01,904
but so long as you are trying to do your own thing
571
00:50:01,904 --> 00:50:03,064
and not God's thing,
572
00:50:03,064 --> 00:50:06,364
God is resisting you, no question about it.
573
00:50:08,324 --> 00:50:10,204
But what does he do for the humble?
574
00:50:11,364 --> 00:50:15,144
He gives, gives them grace.
575
00:50:16,084 --> 00:50:17,044
Grace isn't earned.
576
00:50:17,464 --> 00:50:18,364
Grace is a gift.
577
00:50:19,364 --> 00:50:21,364
He gives them divine enablement.
578
00:50:21,584 --> 00:50:23,164
He gives them grace.
579
00:50:24,104 --> 00:50:26,064
But you got to be humble to receive it.
580
00:50:26,464 --> 00:50:27,604
I love this one.
581
00:50:28,484 --> 00:50:29,664
1 Peter 5, 6.
582
00:50:29,664 --> 00:50:35,364
Peter says you've got to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God so that he
583
00:50:35,364 --> 00:50:43,764
God will exalt you but you see this thing with humility it's our choice we
584
00:50:43,764 --> 00:50:52,584
have to make a decision to what humble ourselves have you ever humbled yourself
585
00:50:52,584 --> 00:51:03,404
is your life characteristic of Mephibosheth that would prostrate itself before the king and
586
00:51:03,404 --> 00:51:13,304
bow down and get on your face say God I'm your servant I'm nothing before you I'm a dead dog
587
00:51:13,304 --> 00:51:21,084
I can't believe you would even want anything to do with me and my fallen broken lameness
588
00:51:21,084 --> 00:51:24,524
God I bring nothing to the table here
589
00:51:24,524 --> 00:51:27,144
that's Mephibosheth
590
00:51:27,144 --> 00:51:29,024
that's humility
591
00:51:29,024 --> 00:51:30,664
and that
592
00:51:30,664 --> 00:51:32,744
is who the kindness
593
00:51:32,744 --> 00:51:35,064
of God is for
594
00:51:35,064 --> 00:51:39,284
well God's just lucky
595
00:51:39,284 --> 00:51:40,964
that I'm even coming to church
596
00:51:40,964 --> 00:51:41,884
ha
597
00:51:41,884 --> 00:51:44,404
joke
598
00:51:44,404 --> 00:51:48,244
that's a joke
599
00:51:48,244 --> 00:52:03,024
humility humbling ourselves understanding you but but you realize the very first beatitude
600
00:52:03,024 --> 00:52:11,944
Matthew chapter 5 verse 3 the very first beatitude Jesus said what blessed are the poor in spirit
601
00:52:11,944 --> 00:52:16,984
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven or the kingdom of God.
602
00:52:17,164 --> 00:52:18,924
What does poor in spirit mean?
603
00:52:19,944 --> 00:52:22,484
Poor in spirit means you recognize
604
00:52:22,484 --> 00:52:28,244
your total spiritual poverty and brokenness before God.
605
00:52:28,844 --> 00:52:31,884
And welcome back from that sermon from Steve Berger
606
00:52:31,884 --> 00:52:34,544
from our very own One Church home here in Fairview.
607
00:52:35,064 --> 00:52:37,324
I had to read 1 and 2 Samuel
608
00:52:37,324 --> 00:52:39,084
to understand more about this story
609
00:52:39,084 --> 00:52:41,924
because it fascinates me how much David had went through
610
00:52:41,924 --> 00:52:48,684
how much had happened after Goliath that I didn't know and learn growing up at the churches I went
611
00:52:48,684 --> 00:52:55,064
to. So I suggest diving into it because it's a fascinating story. Donations. On the donations
612
00:52:55,064 --> 00:52:59,524
front, nothing new from Fountain. We're going to have other payment options soon. So as soon as we
613
00:52:59,524 --> 00:53:04,284
finish some tax stuff and some accounts and all that, it's really annoying. But if you're in the
614
00:53:04,284 --> 00:53:09,564
Fountain app, which is a podcasting 2.0 app, you just use a little button up there to boost and
615
00:53:09,564 --> 00:53:14,404
support and you can do that and you can support us for $3 and 50 cents a month. If you haven't seen
616
00:53:14,404 --> 00:53:19,284
that, you can look at our website. A lot of stuff on the website has been updated. We've been really
617
00:53:19,284 --> 00:53:23,784
focused on trying to get as much information that's relevant to people of Fairview on there.
618
00:53:24,304 --> 00:53:30,544
And so I hope that other people will show support. And if you make a donation of over $19 and 59
619
00:53:30,544 --> 00:53:35,984
cents, we will call you out on the show, uh, unless you put a note that says you want to be anonymous.
620
00:53:35,984 --> 00:53:37,504
So still nothing there yet.
621
00:53:38,704 --> 00:53:40,504
So please just keep following us.
622
00:53:40,904 --> 00:53:42,664
