EP: 17 "In the New Year”
This is the Fairview, TN News from Dec 31st – Jan 7th 2025.
Welcome to Episode 17 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here in Fairview, for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas. This is a weekly show, released every Wednesday, featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire. Local Radio stations and newspapers don’t exist in small towns like ours, so we will use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview. This is a Value for Value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value you receive. This concept was founded by the PodFather himself, Adam Curry, and his Co-host, John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show, over 18 years ago.
Currently, this is a one-man operation, so if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, or job openings, please don't hesitate to let me know. Use the contact form on the website, and we will work to get updates into the next episode. You are a producer of this show; you are not the product, because your time and attention are not being sold to advertisers for value. Some shows will be longer, others shorter, but I will do my best to keep things relevant.
Traffic Time
Normal Busy, where you can wait 2-5 minutes to make a left in the morning and the afternoon. Cumberland, and 100 is still getting some regular work. They are still working to build culverts on the East- and westbound sides to widen the road. We are less than one year out from it being done. We had the front of Chester Road closed parts of last week, as it was reported to be for drainage and utility work; it’s wrapped up.
Redlight Update – We currently still have three (Old Cox, Publix, & Walmart). Still, we will soon be getting one at the new City Center Entrance and at the Cumberland and 100 intersection when that expansion occurs. I’m not sure how it will help or hurt yet, but I hope the crossing guard can control it during the morning and evening school rush.
City Center – Traffic closures will continue periodically as they appear to be finishing some of the final drainage and grading.

2. Leadvale Access Area on Douglas Lake is temporarily closed to the public as crews work to repair damage caused by Hurricane Helene. The access area, a popular entry point for boating and fishing, sustained significant structural damage during the storm.

How’s the hill, weather report
Back to it, How’s the hill? Passable. Back to Warm. The weather guessers are predicting highs in the high 60s and lows in the 60s down to the 20s next week, with some rain on Friday and Saturday.
New Businesses
Nothing New was spotted. Ace Hardware is still brewing and making some progress. They have made a lot of progress outside. The property across from Carr Orthodontics finally has a For Sale sign on it, after months of clearing and leveling. Other than that, I spotted nothing new this week, and I'm waiting to see what else is coming. There are still a couple of properties for sale around the area. Still the same three properties listed for sale.

Farmers Market
Make sure to head to the Farmers Market every Saturday Morning, 8 AM to 12 PM (Not Earlier, as other posts have posted) at Meseck Chiropractor and Fairview Fresh Deli for their life-changing Apple Fritters, located down the road from Publix. There are so many good places to get breads and treats, local beef and pork, local fruits, and vegetables, along with some hot sauce, fishing lures, and other holiday gifts this time of the year.
Brick and Mortar Highlight

Get some Goat Milk Soap, some Coca Cola Memorabilia, Old Vinyl, jewelry, kitchenware, toys, and a whole list of random things that’s constantly changing.

Faith Moment
This week I found the message from the Bridge Church about starting the new year off with prayer and some time with the lord. Pastor Jimmy Pruitt talks about some of the steps and benefits to it that I think you will enjoy. Start small and finish big!
https://www.facebook.com/BridgeChurchFredericksburg
Welcome back, I hope that message resonated with you, as we are in this new year and we are doing these things. You can check out the full Sermon online here, but I think this is a good one.
Donations
On the Donations front, nothing new from Fountain. We will have other payment options soon, just waiting for the tax man stuff to finish. We covered Fountain and Stripe Setup in the last episode, so a Donate button lets you use your Credit Card and other Payment methods through Stripe.
A monthly Supporter option is available for just $3.50. If you haven’t seen the website, please take a look. A lot has been added since last week, and I think you will find it helpful, including the calendar, Church and Business List, and more. We will announce your first name or business name if you become a monthly supporter or make a donation of $19.59 or more, unless you include a note stating not to be anonymous (e.g., 'The year we were incorporated'). I hope some business people will support this to make it even better! Be a producer, subscribe, and share with others about this Podcast to help get the news out to everyone in Fairview. I need to catch up on social media things to get the word out, but I’m trying to get the website and payments sorted first.
Thank You
If you have found this podcast helpful, thank you. Please support the show with your time, talents, or treasure. If you have an idea or suggestion, please share it with us. You are a producer of this show. Talent, if you have the skills to help the show and help Fairview, let us know. Treasure, you are receiving this product for free, without paid advertisements. You are getting truly local news, and if that’s worth something, please consider supporting us financially using a value-for-value system so that we can do more.
Please Follow Us on Social Media and at hellofairview.com. A lot more things are coming.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:08,020
Howdy, and welcome to episode 18 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here
2
00:00:08,020 --> 00:00:10,720
in Fairview for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas.
3
00:00:11,160 --> 00:00:16,520
This is a weekly show released every Wednesday featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire
4
00:00:16,520 --> 00:00:20,240
local radio stations and newspapers don't exist in small towns like ours.
5
00:00:20,300 --> 00:00:24,200
So we use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview.
6
00:00:24,380 --> 00:00:28,620
This is a value for value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value
7
00:00:28,620 --> 00:00:32,800
you receive. This concept was founded by the pod father himself, Adam Curry, and his co-host,
8
00:00:32,920 --> 00:00:38,020
John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show over 18 years ago. Currently, this is just a one-man
9
00:00:38,020 --> 00:00:42,260
operation. So if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, or job openings,
10
00:00:42,420 --> 00:00:46,940
please don't hesitate to let me know. Use the contact form on the website and we'll work on
11
00:00:46,940 --> 00:00:51,880
getting those updates out on the next episode. You are a producer of the show. You are not the
12
00:00:51,880 --> 00:00:55,420
product because your time and attention are not being sold for advertisers for value.
13
00:00:55,420 --> 00:00:57,400
Some of these shows will be longer.
14
00:00:57,600 --> 00:00:58,360
Some will be shorter.
15
00:00:58,600 --> 00:01:02,060
I'll do my best to always try to keep things relevant to the news at hand.
16
00:01:02,680 --> 00:01:03,460
Traffic time.
17
00:01:04,080 --> 00:01:05,300
Well, it's normal busy.
18
00:01:05,420 --> 00:01:08,920
You can still wait two to five minutes to make a left turn in the morning and afternoon.
19
00:01:09,620 --> 00:01:11,960
Cumberland 100 is still getting some regular work.
20
00:01:12,040 --> 00:01:16,640
Looks like it paused a little bit because we've had some rain and I guess over the holidays too.
21
00:01:16,720 --> 00:01:23,980
So we'll see as that picks up again as they keep going further down the road east to move those pipes and everything.
22
00:01:24,680 --> 00:01:26,560
So we're less than a year out from that.
23
00:01:26,680 --> 00:01:27,740
We had road closures.
24
00:01:27,840 --> 00:01:33,720
We mentioned that last week on Chester Road closed, and that was reported to be for drainage
25
00:01:33,720 --> 00:01:34,880
and some utility work.
26
00:01:34,960 --> 00:01:36,400
And it looks like it's wrapped up.
27
00:01:36,860 --> 00:01:39,580
So that means that's good for people that live down that road.
28
00:01:40,260 --> 00:01:40,960
Red light update.
29
00:01:40,960 --> 00:01:45,400
We still have three, one at Old Cox and Publix and Walmart.
30
00:01:45,780 --> 00:01:51,100
Still, we'll be getting one eventually at City Center entrance and the Cumberland and 100
31
00:01:51,100 --> 00:01:53,560
intersection that is being worked on right now.
32
00:01:53,980 --> 00:01:59,980
I'm not sure how either one of those is going to help or hurt with the morning and evening school rush.
33
00:02:01,120 --> 00:02:02,000
We're growing.
34
00:02:02,320 --> 00:02:07,400
Well, city news, nothing really got posted as everyone's kind of come back into the mix.
35
00:02:08,040 --> 00:02:12,840
Homes for sale were down to 201 from 209 last week.
36
00:02:13,160 --> 00:02:23,800
And it's the same highs and lows from last week with a $3.495 million house on 70 acres and a $250,000 townhome with no acres.
37
00:02:23,980 --> 00:02:31,880
town meeting updates well there has been no meeting updates since last time there was a
38
00:02:31,880 --> 00:02:36,740
park and landscape board meeting on the 5th but just like we have mentioned before there's no
39
00:02:36,740 --> 00:02:42,640
notes or official things posted on the website to help keep track of what they're doing we
40
00:02:42,640 --> 00:02:47,000
mentioned it last week with that we know from the last planning commission and board of commissioners
41
00:02:47,000 --> 00:02:52,880
there will be more work for them to do and so i'm hopeful that they got a couple cool things on their
42
00:02:52,880 --> 00:02:58,080
list and we'll hear from that shortly because when it comes to town meetings our next ones are you
43
00:02:58,080 --> 00:03:04,680
know next week january 13th uh at 7 p.m is our planning commission january 15th is the board
44
00:03:04,680 --> 00:03:10,420
of commissioners meeting uh and january 29th is the board commissioner's town hall and around town
45
00:03:10,420 --> 00:03:15,580
coffee is january 14th so next week is probably getting back into the groove which is good
46
00:03:15,580 --> 00:03:21,360
state of tennessee well not a lot of news seems like all the news agencies and newspapers and a
47
00:03:21,360 --> 00:03:27,060
lot of that stuff took off uh so the only two things i thought was kind of interesting is the
48
00:03:27,060 --> 00:03:36,280
the tennessee senate panel wants officers that privately run prisons by uh that to wear body
49
00:03:36,280 --> 00:03:42,660
cameras on there uh and this is in opposition to the state correctioners commissioner so we'll see
50
00:03:42,660 --> 00:03:46,800
what happens from there i think that could be a good thing it will definitely obviously change
51
00:03:46,800 --> 00:03:53,160
behavior and will help and can hurt officers and inmates if something goes on.
52
00:03:53,600 --> 00:04:00,600
But I think body cams have been a great addition to law enforcement and have helped save people
53
00:04:00,600 --> 00:04:03,360
and both directions of that.
54
00:04:05,300 --> 00:04:12,800
The Leadvale access area on Douglas Lake is still closed to public as crews work to still
55
00:04:12,800 --> 00:04:20,400
repair damages caused by Hurricane Helene across the area. A popular entry boat for fishing in there
56
00:04:20,400 --> 00:04:26,700
sustained significant structural damage during the storm. The bills, well, you know, if they
57
00:04:26,700 --> 00:04:31,320
haven't been doing anything for a couple weeks now, and next week and a little bit of this week,
58
00:04:31,320 --> 00:04:36,760
it's on like Donkey Kong. There is the State Building Commission is meeting tomorrow on the
59
00:04:36,760 --> 00:04:46,420
8th at 1 p.m. No agenda posted for that. January 13th, basically it's like a full day, 2 o'clock,
60
00:04:46,560 --> 00:04:52,460
1.30, 2.30, 3 o'clock, and 3.30, different areas of it. But basically, we've got a Senate floor
61
00:04:52,460 --> 00:04:57,140
session, a Senate's finance, ways, and means, a Senate state and local government committee,
62
00:04:57,140 --> 00:05:03,780
a state commerce and labor committee, and the Senate judiciary committee. They're all meeting
63
00:05:03,780 --> 00:05:08,120
at different times tomorrow. And I guess one thing that's going to be interesting is that just proves
64
00:05:08,120 --> 00:05:13,500
that there's not a lot of people, I guess, or nobody that sits on multiple boards like that,
65
00:05:13,500 --> 00:05:19,640
because they couldn't be in four places at once. But the Ways and Means Committee is the only one
66
00:05:19,640 --> 00:05:26,320
that had a meaningful agenda. And so we'll kind of go through that. So we look at SB 1152. This is
67
00:05:26,320 --> 00:05:31,700
the Ola May Ransom Reintegration Act, which exempts veterans of the United States, including
68
00:05:31,700 --> 00:05:39,360
the National Guard reserves from a payment of $15 for a business license. So kind of like a
69
00:05:39,360 --> 00:05:48,320
interesting name for it, but I guess there is some story there. SB 735 has introduced just
70
00:05:48,320 --> 00:05:55,200
the compensation to be paid for the acquisition or removal of outdoor advertising. Lawfully erected
71
00:05:55,200 --> 00:06:01,500
prohibits the use of amortization to provide such just compensation. So something to do with
72
00:06:01,500 --> 00:06:09,500
Al-Sorad advertisements, kind of interesting there. SB 1069, this as introduced will attire
73
00:06:09,500 --> 00:06:14,680
with prior notification that the auctioneer is required to send the motor vehicle commission
74
00:06:14,680 --> 00:06:20,760
of time and place of auction where the motor vehicles at a going out of business sale will be
75
00:06:20,760 --> 00:06:26,580
sold and sent electronically. So I guess they were sending manual papers and now they're going
76
00:06:26,580 --> 00:06:34,880
to do it electronically. Another one amends TCA title 67 chapter four as introduced exempts
77
00:06:34,880 --> 00:06:41,040
childcare agencies from business tax requires state to annually allocate the amount of such
78
00:06:41,040 --> 00:06:47,180
taxes derived from the childcare services and received from counties and municipalities in the
79
00:06:47,180 --> 00:06:53,480
2023 to 2024 fiscal year. So kind of interesting how it's like kind of backdated a little bit there.
80
00:06:54,800 --> 00:07:05,720
SB 918, Boat and Boating amends the TCA Title 69, Chapter 9, as introduced increases from 12 to 16,
81
00:07:05,720 --> 00:07:14,000
the minimum age of operating personal watercraft without direct adult supervision requires persons
82
00:07:14,000 --> 00:07:18,880
operating Watercraft to maintain financial responsibility in the same amount applicable
83
00:07:18,880 --> 00:07:28,160
to vehicles, which aka means insurance. SB 1101, taxes exemption and credit, amends the TCA
84
00:07:28,160 --> 00:07:43,338
Title V Title VI and Title 67 Chapter V as introduced creates tax exemptions for portions of property that provide tree canopy covers in counties whose local governing bodies elect to create this exemption
85
00:07:44,158 --> 00:07:48,198
So if you make shade, you get some cool thing.
86
00:07:48,498 --> 00:07:50,878
We definitely got to look at that as we get closer here.
87
00:07:50,878 --> 00:07:54,918
Then we have education curriculum.
88
00:07:55,078 --> 00:08:06,878
Amends TCA Title 49 is introduced, requires each local education agency and public charter school to annually implement an evidence-based substance abuse and violence provision program.
89
00:08:07,038 --> 00:08:15,438
And a school that serves students of any grades 3 through 12 to reduce tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drug use by students.
90
00:08:15,438 --> 00:08:27,118
SB 1411 criminal offense amends TCH title 39 and 49 chapter six and as introduced makes assault
91
00:08:27,118 --> 00:08:35,398
against school employees a class E felony under certain circumstances and then there was one more
92
00:08:35,398 --> 00:08:42,938
thing which was SB 141 which just says department of treasury high priority items for 2026 with no
93
00:08:42,938 --> 00:08:48,718
other details so i guess cool story they're doing things uh so it'd be kind of interesting to see if
94
00:08:48,718 --> 00:08:54,158
there's any reports out of this ways and means after that how's the hill well uh back at it you
95
00:08:54,158 --> 00:08:59,718
know it's passable we're back to warm again uh the weather guessers are predicting highs in the 60s
96
00:08:59,718 --> 00:09:07,298
almost 70s and lows down in the 60s uh and even in the 20s in the next week with some rain on
97
00:09:07,298 --> 00:09:12,898
Friday and Saturday. New businesses, nothing spotted. Ace Hardware is still brewing.
98
00:09:13,858 --> 00:09:18,778
We have seen a couple of people post on Fairview Then and Now about job openings and they haven't
99
00:09:18,778 --> 00:09:22,578
been posted yet, but apparently the website's getting close. As they're getting closer to
100
00:09:22,578 --> 00:09:26,618
construction, they're going to start doing that. So that's great to hear. The property across from
101
00:09:26,618 --> 00:09:30,018
Car Orthotics is still for sale, so we're still waiting for that. And there's a couple other
102
00:09:30,018 --> 00:09:33,958
properties. No new properties on the commercial side have been listed. The same three things have
103
00:09:33,958 --> 00:09:38,358
been for sale. Farmer's Market, make sure you head to the Farmer's Market every Saturday morning,
104
00:09:38,478 --> 00:09:44,258
8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Messick Chiropractic and Fairview Fresh Deli Donuts. Located down the
105
00:09:44,258 --> 00:09:48,418
road and across the road from Publix, there are so many good places to get breads and treats,
106
00:09:48,538 --> 00:09:52,858
local beef and pork, fruits and vegetables, along with some hot sauce, fishing lures, and other
107
00:09:52,858 --> 00:09:57,358
holiday gifts as those wind down for the year, so you'll see some of the regulars coming back,
108
00:09:57,878 --> 00:10:03,018
and so that's great. Old Town Antiques is our local business brick-and-mortar highlight.
109
00:10:03,018 --> 00:10:04,738
This is our local antique mall.
110
00:10:04,878 --> 00:10:09,118
It's a must place visit and you should check it out every now and then because things change
111
00:10:09,118 --> 00:10:09,598
all the time.
112
00:10:09,678 --> 00:10:14,058
Some of the booths have been recently updated and other booths have been added since then.
113
00:10:14,558 --> 00:10:17,158
This is a great place to support local businesses and people.
114
00:10:17,278 --> 00:10:21,098
The staff is amazing and help you track down something and always a pleasure to check out
115
00:10:21,098 --> 00:10:21,318
with.
116
00:10:21,718 --> 00:10:27,618
Get some, you know, goat milk soap, some Coca-Cola memorabilia, old vinyl, jewelry, kitchenware,
117
00:10:27,758 --> 00:10:31,238
toys, and a whole list of random things that are constantly changing.
118
00:10:31,678 --> 00:10:32,698
Check them out on Facebook.
119
00:10:32,698 --> 00:10:35,898
They always have promotions and sales and stuff like that.
120
00:10:35,958 --> 00:10:37,078
So definitely follow in there.
121
00:10:37,718 --> 00:10:38,498
Job openings.
122
00:10:38,858 --> 00:10:45,618
We still basically have the same 29 job openings, which basically means there is every major
123
00:10:45,618 --> 00:10:52,378
food retailer has job openings along with, you know, Sherman Williams, the Fairview Animal
124
00:10:52,378 --> 00:10:57,598
Clinic, Publix, Welch Associates, Covenant Primary Care, Brookside Properties, Walmart,
125
00:10:58,478 --> 00:11:01,458
Jingo Market, Dixon Medical Associates.
126
00:11:01,458 --> 00:11:08,618
The city still has their police officer position, and Destination Pet LLC has an animal care attendant.
127
00:11:09,198 --> 00:11:14,338
So if you have any other jobs that you know or internships or cool things like that, please let us know.
128
00:11:14,398 --> 00:11:16,158
Just fill out the contact form on the website.
129
00:11:16,598 --> 00:11:21,058
We'll be glad to announce those job openings to make sure people can have a way to find them.
130
00:11:21,718 --> 00:11:22,358
History nugget.
131
00:11:22,458 --> 00:11:24,078
Well, we're going to do Whippoorwill Drive.
132
00:11:24,178 --> 00:11:27,358
This is the home of the Whippoorwill Farm Day Camp.
133
00:11:27,358 --> 00:11:33,698
This camp was started in 1971 by Sidney Wooten as a place for kids to learn about nature and having a great time.
134
00:11:33,778 --> 00:11:37,258
This camp has won many awards and positive reviews over the past.
135
00:11:37,258 --> 00:11:45,818
The camp announced in September that after 50 years, the camp was permanently closing because the owners were ready to retire.
136
00:11:46,338 --> 00:11:47,658
I know our kids got to go there.
137
00:11:47,758 --> 00:11:50,838
It's an amazing place, and it's sorely missed.
138
00:11:50,838 --> 00:11:57,958
but it's a cool thing to have the road and a little bit of history there out in that Fairview
139
00:11:57,958 --> 00:12:04,358
Fernvale area. So good stuff there. Upcoming events. Well, nothing to really recap from last
140
00:12:04,358 --> 00:12:09,518
week. You know, new events that are coming up. We've got Bowie Park, you know, Tuesdays and
141
00:12:09,518 --> 00:12:14,058
Wednesdays at 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. is that Project Feeder Watch, which is at the Nature Center.
142
00:12:14,058 --> 00:12:21,418
tomorrow at january 8th at 10 to 11 is the ooey gooey amphibians designed for uh seven and under
143
00:12:21,418 --> 00:12:27,918

144
00:12:27,918 --> 00:12:33,178

145
00:12:33,178 --> 00:12:38,378
it all assembled and we had this submitted by someone that's at the fairview high school band
146
00:12:38,378 --> 00:12:46,338
uh january 17th uh there will be a songwriter's night the high school band and fsd performing arts
147
00:12:46,338 --> 00:12:52,338
center at 10 30 excellence way this is 6 to 8 30 a lot of big names there will have that flyer that
148
00:12:52,338 --> 00:12:59,018
they sent us uh on the website so you can see that so you can see jada cato jim collins eric
149
00:12:59,018 --> 00:13:07,998
halbig collins horton jill uh goolsby uh and lauren maschidi uh and uh a couple other people
150
00:13:07,998 --> 00:13:13,598
will be there and if you look at the list of songs that some of these people wrote and help perform
151
00:13:13,598 --> 00:13:20,518
and do all kinds of things in the music business it's really impressive so the seats and prices
152
00:13:20,518 --> 00:13:28,278
are anywhere from 30 to 75 dollars so we have the link on there to do that january 22nd 2 to 3 p.m
153
00:13:28,278 --> 00:13:34,198
is the herp heroes eight and over we'll learn about all forms of lizards out there so january
154
00:13:34,198 --> 00:13:39,898
30th is their seed swap at Bowie Park. So come and exchange your cuttings in there.
155
00:13:40,618 --> 00:13:47,838
And then the park and city had a big update, came from Bowie Park, but their Easter egg hunt is March
156
00:13:47,838 --> 00:13:54,578
28th. Arts and crafts fair is May 2nd. Movie night at Bowie is May 16th. The fishing rodeo
157
00:13:54,578 --> 00:13:59,898
at Veterans Park is June 6th. That's a great time to go through there through July 3rd.
158
00:13:59,898 --> 00:14:08,818
um back uh july 3rd is the 4th of july celebration uh so we will be rocking that back to school
159
00:14:08,818 --> 00:14:14,238
is uh at city hall is august 1st this back to school bash we'll see what that turns into
160
00:14:14,238 --> 00:14:21,018
nature fest is september 19th fall fun day is october 10th trunk of tree is october 24th
161
00:14:21,018 --> 00:14:26,258
the tree lighting event is uh december 4th and december 5th is the christmas parade
162
00:14:26,258 --> 00:14:29,538
with December 12th as being the alternate if there.
163
00:14:29,958 --> 00:14:30,858
So that's really good.
164
00:14:31,458 --> 00:14:38,938
One of our commissioners here posted, Commissioner Buffalini, the voting calendar for 2026.
165
00:14:38,938 --> 00:14:42,978
If you don't know, this is obviously one of those every two years something important
166
00:14:42,978 --> 00:14:44,958
happens in the country, in your area.
167
00:14:45,118 --> 00:14:49,718
And this is one of those years where there's going to be a good chunk of people running
168
00:14:49,718 --> 00:14:50,718
for election this year.
169
00:14:51,678 --> 00:14:54,058
So May 5th is the county primary.
170
00:14:54,058 --> 00:15:01,678
August 6th is the state primary and county general and November 3rd is the federal state and municipal
171
00:15:01,678 --> 00:15:16,836
election so that means for our town we have the mayor coming up and a couple other positions so it important for there and we got the early voting we added this all to the calendar and we going to post this photo so that we got all that
172
00:15:16,836 --> 00:15:21,376
stuff listed out there nice and clear for everybody. For the kids. Well, there are still
173
00:15:21,376 --> 00:15:25,236
tons of activities and sports to do to keep your kids engaged. There are some cheer programs,
174
00:15:25,356 --> 00:15:29,636
recreation teams for baseball, basketball, football, and others. There's a thriving Girl
175
00:15:29,636 --> 00:15:35,116
Scouts and Scouts BSA programs from elementary to high school kids. If you have a homescaler,
176
00:15:35,116 --> 00:15:38,416
always make sure you're checking out the Bowie Park schedule for clubs that meet there.
177
00:15:38,816 --> 00:15:41,596
And if you have kids that are interested in dance, gymnastics, or cheer,
178
00:15:41,676 --> 00:15:45,096
make sure you reach out to Lala's Dance Studio and Elevate Gymnastics and Cheer.
179
00:15:45,816 --> 00:15:50,576
Vigilance Martial Arts is our local taekwondo and jiu-jitsu school that teaches way more than just moves.
180
00:15:51,076 --> 00:15:55,696
And then the Fairview Youth Jacket Wrestling Program is a great program with a lot of summer options.
181
00:15:56,216 --> 00:15:59,616
And it looks like the Rec Volleyball League is getting cooking.
182
00:15:59,616 --> 00:16:08,136
And so all games will be played on Saturdays with most games being held at the Academy Park and Gymnasium down in Franklin.
183
00:16:08,336 --> 00:16:11,816
Practice begins the week of March 16th.
184
00:16:11,936 --> 00:16:16,236
And specific practice day range per age group will be determined.
185
00:16:16,436 --> 00:16:22,956
But right now they've got games on March 28th, 11th, 18th, 25th, 2nd and May 9th.
186
00:16:23,176 --> 00:16:24,996
So we'll get those added to the calendar.
187
00:16:25,336 --> 00:16:28,616
And basically there's 9U, 11U and 14U.
188
00:16:28,616 --> 00:16:32,736
So 7 to 9, co-ed is there.
189
00:16:32,976 --> 00:16:35,876
And ages 10 to 11, there's a girls' intermediate league.
190
00:16:36,076 --> 00:16:39,056
And ages 12 to 14 is the girls' junior league.
191
00:16:39,536 --> 00:16:41,616
So if you've got someone interested, definitely do it.
192
00:16:42,056 --> 00:16:42,636
School news.
193
00:16:43,136 --> 00:16:45,036
Well, Christmas break is done.
194
00:16:45,496 --> 00:16:46,916
Everyone's back to school.
195
00:16:47,256 --> 00:16:49,296
And we are rocking and rolling.
196
00:16:49,476 --> 00:16:50,096
So that's great.
197
00:16:51,396 --> 00:16:52,356
Hawk and Tiger news.
198
00:16:52,456 --> 00:16:54,096
No new news since last week.
199
00:16:54,516 --> 00:16:55,196
Falcon news.
200
00:16:55,196 --> 00:17:00,076
School is back, but there was no newsletter released like there normally is before the show.
201
00:17:00,476 --> 00:17:09,436
They obviously posted about e-books coming up, and makeup exams are going to be on January 13th for math, social studies, and enrichment makeup exams and assignments.
202
00:17:09,616 --> 00:17:12,556
So if you had a student that missed it, that's their chance.
203
00:17:13,236 --> 00:17:18,676
Then we have Wednesday, January 14th, is the ELA makeup for there.
204
00:17:18,676 --> 00:17:26,336
there was also a basketball game last night with the sixth graders and and the seventh and eighth
205
00:17:26,336 --> 00:17:32,956
graders i could see the parking lot was full on thursday there'll be a jv a game against grassland
206
00:17:32,956 --> 00:17:38,236
where the sixth graders will be at home and the others will be at grassland on january 15th at 6
207
00:17:38,236 --> 00:17:43,016
p.m there'll be a meeting at the mechatronics program at the f-pack at the high school to talk
208
00:17:43,016 --> 00:17:50,396
about that program. January 16th is the Falcon Pride schedule. And January, February 12th is the
209
00:17:50,396 --> 00:17:56,636
Spring Pictures, a new date. March 5th is the Makeup Pictures for Spring Portraits. The Lady
210
00:17:56,636 --> 00:18:03,256
Falcons football is January 25th, 1 to 2.30 p.m. at the Fairview High School and Football Field.
211
00:18:03,936 --> 00:18:09,656
Eighth Brainer News, basically their four-year plan is February 19th through March 5th
212
00:18:09,656 --> 00:18:15,596
at the library. The high school counselors will be meeting with students to try to come up with
213
00:18:15,596 --> 00:18:22,136
some of their freshman classes February 19th through March 5th. So please set up a meeting.
214
00:18:22,316 --> 00:18:26,576
If you have a kid with IEP, then definitely bring that up so you can get it all scheduled.
215
00:18:27,716 --> 00:18:33,976
And that's kind of it. Then Thursday, January, the FPAC will be talking about that mechatronics.
216
00:18:33,976 --> 00:18:44,876
We already got that. And yeah, the Monica Burr Foundation Teen Safety Matters curriculum is getting rolled out.
217
00:18:45,036 --> 00:18:53,256
We kind of talked about that a little bit before, but regarding education and detection, intervention, prevention and treatment of child abuse and human traffic.
218
00:18:53,256 --> 00:19:04,116
The MBAF Teen Safety Matters Preventment Treatment Human Trafficking stuff was a comprehensive program for middle school students, grades six to seven.
219
00:19:04,536 --> 00:19:08,236
This year, it will only be delivered to the seventh grade students.
220
00:19:08,396 --> 00:19:14,356
So if you've got a seventh grader and you want to learn about the teen safety matters, make sure you send an email to them.
221
00:19:15,056 --> 00:19:18,156
Jacket News, school is back, but no new newsletters.
222
00:19:18,776 --> 00:19:24,176
Applications for the Innovation Center are on ClassLink from December 2nd to February 13th.
223
00:19:24,496 --> 00:19:26,276
Senior jackets and rings can be ordered.
224
00:19:27,016 --> 00:19:31,896
January 28th will be an open house for the Entrepreneur Center at 6 p.m.
225
00:19:31,896 --> 00:19:35,756
If you have a student that's starting to drive, make sure you check out everything there.
226
00:19:36,416 --> 00:19:37,536
And we've got those links there.
227
00:19:38,196 --> 00:19:38,736
Faith moment.
228
00:19:39,296 --> 00:19:43,476
Well, this week I found the message from Bridge Church out in Fredericksburg, Texas,
229
00:19:43,476 --> 00:19:50,736
starting about how to start off the new year with prayer and some time with the Lord. Pastor Jimmy
230
00:19:50,736 --> 00:19:56,776
talks about some of the steps and the benefits of it, and I think you'll really enjoy. And basically,
231
00:19:56,936 --> 00:20:02,376
in the simplest sense, is start small and finish big, right? You don't have to dedicate hours,
232
00:20:02,376 --> 00:20:09,076
days to meditation and prayer. Just put some time aside, and you'll start seeing how important that
233
00:20:09,076 --> 00:20:14,276
time is. So here we go. Preparation precedes breakthrough. We need to prepare ourselves
234
00:20:14,276 --> 00:20:21,776
for what God wants to do. Small steps of obedience create space for God's power.
235
00:20:23,916 --> 00:20:28,536
Small steps. Again, I've talked about goals being highly overrated. We're setting all these big
236
00:20:28,536 --> 00:20:34,336
goals, but what about just walking every day with him? Do you have a morning time that you spend with
237
00:20:34,336 --> 00:20:39,096
the Lord. If you don't, I want to encourage you. You should get up a little bit earlier,
238
00:20:39,696 --> 00:20:44,616
just a little bit. It doesn't even take much. Get up earlier and get on the, on the YouVersion
239
00:20:44,616 --> 00:20:51,116
Bible and, and download a couple of those devotionals. I love My Outbusters Highs by
240
00:20:51,116 --> 00:20:57,116
Oswald Chambers. I'm back on that. I've been doing that for a while now. It is speaking into the deep
241
00:20:57,116 --> 00:21:04,116
places of my life, but there is so much available out there. If we will avail ourselves to it,
242
00:21:04,116 --> 00:21:05,116
And I want to encourage you.
243
00:21:05,556 --> 00:21:06,516
Get up a little earlier.
244
00:21:06,936 --> 00:21:09,156
Start a morning devotional time.
245
00:21:09,456 --> 00:21:11,156
Some people call it a quiet time.
246
00:21:11,516 --> 00:21:14,936
I just call it my daily routine, my daily practice.
247
00:21:16,316 --> 00:21:17,576
And it's sacred.
248
00:21:17,736 --> 00:21:18,776
Just ask Annette.
249
00:21:19,776 --> 00:21:21,656
Honey, we walk with you this morning.
250
00:21:22,496 --> 00:21:22,976
Later.
251
00:21:24,256 --> 00:21:26,516
Me and the Lord, me and Jesus are talking right now.
252
00:21:26,576 --> 00:21:27,396
We're having a conversation.
253
00:21:29,916 --> 00:21:32,516
It's so special to me and so precious.
254
00:21:32,516 --> 00:21:35,516
I will rarely take an early breakfast with anyone.
255
00:21:36,136 --> 00:21:39,836
It's because that time is the most special time of my day.
256
00:21:40,796 --> 00:21:43,016
The next special time of my day is being with my wife.
257
00:21:43,136 --> 00:21:47,456
But that is like the most, that's a non-negotiable for me.
258
00:21:48,836 --> 00:21:50,756
And I would encourage you to do the same.
259
00:21:51,856 --> 00:21:53,956
Faith is completed through obedience.
260
00:21:54,196 --> 00:21:55,736
Listen to this in James 1.22.
261
00:21:55,976 --> 00:21:59,976
I love the book of James because James just beats around the bush all the time.
262
00:22:00,076 --> 00:22:01,536
He didn't really get to the, I'm kidding.
263
00:22:01,536 --> 00:22:06,836
That's sarcasm. James is a brick in the head kind of guy. Cinder block brick. Listen to what he says.
264
00:22:07,176 --> 00:22:13,976
But be doers of the word. Be doers of what God says and not hearers only. Deceiving yourselves.
265
00:22:14,316 --> 00:22:19,296
He said if you just hear the word, you just hear the Bible, you just listen to sermons, you just
266
00:22:19,296 --> 00:22:24,076
download and listen to worship and stuff. But if you don't do anything about it, then you're
267
00:22:24,076 --> 00:22:31,636
literally deceiving yourself. You got the t-shirt, you got the bracelet, got the bumper
268
00:22:31,636 --> 00:22:39,016
sticker, you got the Bible app on your phone, but that doesn't mean you're after God and
269
00:22:39,016 --> 00:22:55,654
that you actually doing what he told you to do James 1 22 in the message translation pastor Eugene Peterson puts it this way Don fool yourself into thinking that you a listener when you are anything but Letting the word go in one ear and
270
00:22:55,654 --> 00:23:04,714
out the other. Act on what you hear. Letting it go in one ear and out the other like it did not
271
00:23:04,714 --> 00:23:11,434
stick somewhere. It just went right through us. Here's the key thought in this. God moves
272
00:23:11,434 --> 00:23:19,014
when his people move in faith. God is waiting on us to move. Last week in communion, I talked
273
00:23:19,014 --> 00:23:23,934
about James 4.8. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. It's covenant language.
274
00:23:24,494 --> 00:23:29,554
That covenant language and covenant promise still stands that when we move, he moves.
275
00:23:29,554 --> 00:23:32,154
when the father saw the son
276
00:23:32,154 --> 00:23:33,154
the prodigal coming home
277
00:23:33,154 --> 00:23:34,814
he saw him, he was moving
278
00:23:34,814 --> 00:23:36,574
and the father went to him
279
00:23:36,574 --> 00:23:38,974
listen, this is a biblical principle
280
00:23:38,974 --> 00:23:42,114
make a move
281
00:23:42,114 --> 00:23:44,714
take a step
282
00:23:44,714 --> 00:23:47,034
take a step of faith
283
00:23:47,034 --> 00:23:48,234
say, you know what
284
00:23:48,234 --> 00:23:49,254
I'm going to get up a little earlier
285
00:23:49,254 --> 00:23:50,874
I'm going to get into God's Word
286
00:23:50,874 --> 00:23:52,314
I'm going to spend time with God
287
00:23:52,314 --> 00:23:54,654
hey, if all you know is the Lord's Prayer
288
00:23:54,654 --> 00:23:55,734
pray the Lord's Prayer
289
00:23:55,734 --> 00:23:58,114
go to our page
290
00:23:58,114 --> 00:24:00,294
Read over our fasting guide and get into that.
291
00:24:00,614 --> 00:24:02,234
There's a great place to start.
292
00:24:02,694 --> 00:24:03,734
There is so much available.
293
00:24:03,894 --> 00:24:07,874
And anybody who needs help finding that, talk to any one of us.
294
00:24:07,974 --> 00:24:11,014
We can direct you to something that will help you devotionally.
295
00:24:11,734 --> 00:24:13,414
God moves when his people move in faith.
296
00:24:13,494 --> 00:24:14,394
So here's the charge.
297
00:24:15,354 --> 00:24:17,374
This is not a year to stand still.
298
00:24:19,814 --> 00:24:24,754
This is a year to rise up, to step out, and to speak out.
299
00:24:24,754 --> 00:24:27,754
We talked a lot about cultural engagement.
300
00:24:28,614 --> 00:24:34,714
We've got to engage our culture with substance, with answers and solutions.
301
00:24:35,134 --> 00:24:43,994
Not opinions, not memes, not the latest black hole, rabbit hole piece of news,
302
00:24:44,414 --> 00:24:47,994
but with wisdom from God's word.
303
00:24:48,354 --> 00:24:50,074
That's what the world's looking for.
304
00:24:50,554 --> 00:24:52,394
That's what people are looking for.
305
00:24:52,394 --> 00:24:55,234
They're looking for the real thing
306
00:24:55,234 --> 00:24:57,594
And we have an opportunity to present it
307
00:24:57,594 --> 00:25:00,494
So we're going to do our closing declarations
308
00:25:00,494 --> 00:25:01,354
We did this last week
309
00:25:01,354 --> 00:25:02,494
I reshaped these a little bit
310
00:25:02,494 --> 00:25:03,654
Why don't you stand to your feet
311
00:25:03,654 --> 00:25:04,954
Let's do this together
312
00:25:04,954 --> 00:25:06,694
There's something powerful happens
313
00:25:06,694 --> 00:25:09,234
When you declare things out of your mouth
314
00:25:09,234 --> 00:25:10,874
When you declare truth
315
00:25:10,874 --> 00:25:12,654
Scientifically speaking
316
00:25:12,654 --> 00:25:14,034
Your brain hears it
317
00:25:14,034 --> 00:25:15,734
And it actually rewires your brain
318
00:25:15,734 --> 00:25:17,314
If you'll do it repetitively
319
00:25:17,314 --> 00:25:18,854
Now if you do it once
320
00:25:18,854 --> 00:25:19,634
It's still helpful
321
00:25:19,634 --> 00:25:21,434
Because it lifts your spirit
322
00:25:21,434 --> 00:25:25,114
It builds yourself up on your most holy faith, as Jude says.
323
00:25:25,474 --> 00:25:27,174
So listen to this, Joshua 3, 5.
324
00:25:27,294 --> 00:25:34,214
Joshua told the people, consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.
325
00:25:34,494 --> 00:25:36,494
I believe that for you in 2026.
326
00:25:37,074 --> 00:25:39,474
This is going to be a great year.
327
00:25:39,634 --> 00:25:39,914
Why?
328
00:25:40,314 --> 00:25:41,794
Because we have a great God.
329
00:25:41,854 --> 00:25:42,094
Amen?
330
00:25:42,594 --> 00:25:44,954
I didn't say the circumstances are going to be great.
331
00:25:45,154 --> 00:25:47,754
I said the year is going to be great because God is great.
332
00:25:47,974 --> 00:25:49,214
So let's do our declarations.
333
00:25:49,274 --> 00:25:49,674
You ready?
334
00:25:49,674 --> 00:25:51,414
All right, let's read these together.
335
00:25:51,434 --> 00:25:52,334
Ready? Read.
336
00:25:52,874 --> 00:25:56,374
We thank God for his faithfulness in this past year.
337
00:25:57,254 --> 00:26:00,594
We release regret, disappointment, and fear.
338
00:26:01,274 --> 00:26:04,054
We choose gratitude over resentment.
339
00:26:04,954 --> 00:26:10,114
We look forward with the eyes of faith to what God has for us.
340
00:26:10,554 --> 00:26:13,054
We choose hope over fear.
341
00:26:13,894 --> 00:26:17,174
We will engage culture with a biblical worldview.
342
00:26:17,174 --> 00:26:23,254
We are starting this year strong because we ended 2025 strong.
343
00:26:23,634 --> 00:26:30,114
And we step into this new year trusting the Lord with faith, hope, and expectation.
344
00:26:30,754 --> 00:26:34,474
In Jesus' name, everybody said amen and amen.
345
00:26:34,614 --> 00:26:36,454
Give the Lord a big clap and a shout.
346
00:26:37,634 --> 00:26:38,554
He is good.
347
00:26:39,714 --> 00:26:41,414
And we get to do this.
348
00:26:41,474 --> 00:26:42,214
Let's pray together.
349
00:26:42,354 --> 00:26:44,194
Father, thank you for your word.
350
00:26:44,194 --> 00:26:47,594
Thank you for truth bombs that you just landed on us today.
351
00:26:47,734 --> 00:26:49,434
We receive them, Lord.
352
00:26:49,594 --> 00:26:56,494
We prepare our hearts to cross over, to move into this new place, this new space with you, Lord.
353
00:26:56,674 --> 00:26:57,594
That's our heart.
354
00:26:58,014 --> 00:27:00,734
Father, we're not talking about epic and sensational.
355
00:27:00,914 --> 00:27:02,314
We're talking about the dailies.
356
00:27:02,894 --> 00:27:10,454
Everything, the little things we do every day, making right decisions and doing the next thing, Jesus, you tell us to do.
357
00:27:10,454 --> 00:27:13,654
to do the next right thing on a continual basis.
358
00:27:13,854 --> 00:27:16,154
Long obedience in one direction.
359
00:27:16,714 --> 00:27:18,414
That's our heart for this coming year.
360
00:27:18,874 --> 00:27:21,094
And we know in that we will meet you
361
00:27:21,094 --> 00:27:25,174
with our head, with our heart, and with our hands.
362
00:27:25,754 --> 00:27:27,514
Thank you for truth that changes,
363
00:27:27,754 --> 00:27:28,934
truth that transforms.
364
00:27:30,374 --> 00:27:32,814
Father, I pray if there's anyone here this morning
365
00:27:32,814 --> 00:27:35,414
who's ready to take a step of faith
366
00:27:35,414 --> 00:27:36,374
in their walk with you,
367
00:27:36,474 --> 00:27:39,074
take a step, their first step on the journey maybe,
368
00:27:39,074 --> 00:27:44,054
to come to know Jesus Christ and invite him to be the Lord of their life.
369
00:27:44,254 --> 00:27:47,974
Father, if they're here today, would you give them the courage to come down here?
370
00:27:48,474 --> 00:27:52,034
Just so you'll know, we're going to have people ready to pray down here.
371
00:27:52,174 --> 00:27:55,054
I would ask that our prayer partners to go ahead and come down here.
372
00:27:55,354 --> 00:27:57,134
Go ahead and make your way and stand here.
373
00:27:58,174 --> 00:28:00,954
If you're here this morning and you need prayer for anything,
374
00:28:01,214 --> 00:28:02,614
we are here to pray with you.
375
00:28:02,834 --> 00:28:04,234
We want to pray with you.
376
00:28:04,514 --> 00:28:06,314
My word for this year is pray.
377
00:28:06,314 --> 00:28:09,134
My phrase for 2026 is let's pray.
378
00:28:09,674 --> 00:28:17,574
Annette's word for 2026, which she got in the middle of the night, this morning, early this morning, too early, two something, is more.
379
00:28:18,254 --> 00:28:22,934
So I'm combining ours to say let's pray more.
380
00:28:24,034 --> 00:28:25,834
And I believe that's the heart of God for us.
381
00:28:25,854 --> 00:28:29,114
So if you have prayer, need prayer, we're here for you.
382
00:28:29,214 --> 00:28:29,954
Let's pray more.
383
00:28:29,954 --> 00:28:33,814
Father, in Jesus' name, we honor you with our hearts.
384
00:28:33,814 --> 00:28:36,134
We honor you with our heads.
385
00:28:36,414 --> 00:28:37,954
We honor you with our hands.
386
00:28:38,074 --> 00:28:41,334
In Jesus' name, God's people said, amen and amen.
387
00:28:41,474 --> 00:28:42,114
God bless you.
388
00:28:42,174 --> 00:28:42,674
We love you.
389
00:28:42,754 --> 00:28:44,974
Have an amazing week on purpose.
390
00:28:47,674 --> 00:28:48,374
