EP: 14 "The Christmas Countdown”
This is the Fairview, TN News from Dec 10-17th 2025.
Welcome to Episode 14 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here in Fairview, for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas. This is a weekly show, released every Wednesday, featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire. Local Radio stations and newspapers don’t exist in small towns like ours, so we will use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview. This is a Value for Value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value you receive. This concept was founded by the PodFather himself, Adam Curry, and his Co-host, John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show, over 18 years ago.
Currently, this is a one-man operation, so if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, or job openings, please don't hesitate to let me know. Use the contact form on the website, and we will work to get updates into the next episode. You are a producer of this show; you are not the product, because your time and attention are not being sold to advertisers for value. Some shows will be longer, others shorter, but I will do my best to keep things relevant.
Traffic Time
Normal Busy, where you can wait 2-5 minutes to make a left in the morning and the afternoon. Cumberland, and 100 is still getting some regular work. They are still working to build culverts on the East- and westbound sides to widen the road, along with some mini-bridges. The east side of that intersection is really torn up now as the gas lines are going in and driveways are being split and bored under. We are less than one year out from it being done.
Redlight Update – We currently still have three (Old Cox, Publix, & Walmart). Still, we will soon be getting one at the new City Center Entrance and at the Cumberland and 100 intersection when that expansion occurs. I’m not sure how it will help or hurt yet, but I hope the crossing guard can control it during the morning and evening school rush.
City Center – Traffic closures will continue periodically as they appear to be finishing some of the final drainage and grading.

Christmas Trees – There are still some at Meseck Chiropractic for the Scouts BSA Troop 297 here in Fairview, which just posted that they are just trying to break even, and you can donate to help them because of how slow it was this year.

The State of TN (Not In Order)
- SK On, a South Korean battery maker, announced on Thursday that it has come to an agreement with Ford Motor to dissolve their $11 billion joint battery venture across three U.S. factories, including one in Tennessee. BlueOval City includes Ford’s Tennessee Electric Vehicle Center and several other suppliers, with the BlueOval SK Battery Plant as one of them.
- Tennessee lawmakers gave Tennessee State University a vote of confidence Tuesday, just a year after the state’s only historically Black university needed help to pay its bills following decades of underfunding. A joint Government Operations committee voted unanimously to extend the university’s board of trustees for three years, up from the typical two-year extension.
- Tennessee state leaders announced Friday morning that the state will partner with Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit founded by the late Charlie Kirk. Those state officials announced at an event at the Tennessee State Capitol that there would be Club America chapters, student-led, within TN.
- The Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) has been awarded funding through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Emerging Markets Program (EMP) to boost export opportunities for Tennessee’s hardwood sector through outbound and inbound trade missions with India and Vietnam.
Laws be changing!
Gov. Bill Lee signed a bill that would further regulate the hemp industry and ban certain THCA products from being sold in the Volunteer State.
The Alcoholic Beverage Commission takes over as the regulator for hemp sales
THCA clarified as hemp-derived cannabinoid
THCP deemed not a hemp-derived cannabinoid
Anything with a concentration of more than .3% on a dry weight basis of THCA will not be able to be sold.
“This amendment clarifies that the 0.3% is the limit for delta-9 THC content for hemp-derived cannabinoids.”
Implied Consent/Driving the Influence in Tennessee:
Gov. Lee signed a bill to change the state’s implied consent law.
Refusing a requested blood test will trigger an implied consent charge
License suspension for refusal increases to 1.5 years (for a misdemeanor DUI suspect with no related conviction in the last 10 years)
Saliva tests are authorized, and results are admissible
Buying junk food with SNAP benefits:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved waivers for 18 states, including Tennessee, to ban the use of SNAP benefits to buy certain sugary foods and drinks.
Prohibits the purchase of items like soda, energy drinks, candy and prepared desserts with SNAP benefits
Savanna’s Law - Creates a registry of persistent domestic violence offenders:
The governor signed the bill to create a public registry for people convicted of domestic violence in Tennessee.
The law requires a person convicted of, or who pleads guilty to, domestic assault to register, but only if the victim agrees to the defendant being required to register.
If the victim does not give consent or is not available, the court will not require a person convicted of domestic assault to register under the law.
However, if a court orders a defendant to register, then the court clerk must provide the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation with a copy of the qualifying conviction. This must be done within 60 days of the date of the sentence.
The Bills
Wow a pile of things are going on. First cancelled meeting on show day, which was the Fiscal Review. Then there are meetings next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday; they are finally at work and getting their last things done before the year is out.

How’s the hill, weather report
Back to it, How’s the hill? Passable. Back to Warm’ish. The weather guessers are predicting highs in the 40s-60s, with some rain on Thursday, and with lows varying from 20-53. Winter is pausing for fall for a bit I guess,
New Businesses
Nothing New was spotted. Ace Hardware is still brewing and making some progress. They have made a lot of progress outside. The property across from Carr Orthodontics finally has a For Sale sign on it, after months of clearing and leveling. Other than that, I spotted nothing new this week, and I'm waiting to see what else is coming. There are still a couple of properties for sale around the area. Still the same 3 properties listed for sale.

Farmers Market
Make sure to head to the Farmers Market every Saturday Morning, 8 AM to 12 PM (Not Earlier, as other posts have posted) at Meseck Chiropractor and Fairview Fresh Deli for their life-changing Apple Fritters, located down the road from Publix. There are so many good places to get breads and treats, local beef and pork, local fruits, and vegetables, along with some hot sauce, fishing lures, and other holiday gifts this time of the year.

Got a Septic Tank? Then you may need this crew to help you avoid a problem.
Many people believe that if they haven’t had any trouble with their septic tank in 15-20 years or longer and haven’t had it pumped out, they may be surprised when they do have trouble. Once the sludge builds up too deep, it can knock the tee out of place at the outlet, allowing sludge to drain to the field lines. This can lead to costly repairs to the septic system. Only water is meant to reach the field lines; if properly maintained, a septic system can last for many years.
Give us a call today to schedule a pump of your tank. Backups are no fun! If you also need some Porta-Potties for an event, you can reach out to them, too.

History Nugget
Mangrum Drive - Name Origin
When the town’s name was changed to Fairview, a new post office was built on Highway 100, and Tella Mangrum was hired to be the first postmistress. Jingo post office closed in August 1937, when a new post office, renamed Fairview, was built on Highway 100. The Jingo P. O. building was moved to this site in 2006 from its original location on Elrod Road.

The Addams Family was a hit, and many people turned out. They had a great show, and I think Lurch was my favorite background character, who, with him on stilts, became one of the stars—excited to see what’s next for this crew.

A new Firearms Safety Training is starting next year at WCS, https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/education/standards/Firearms_Safety_2025.pdf In 2024, the Tennessee General Assembly passed a law stating that school districts must annually provide age-appropriate instruction on firearms safety beginning with the 2025-26 school year. With the help of the Williamson County Sheriff's Office, the district produced two firearms safety videos, which all students will view in January when they return to school from Winter Break. Faith Moment
This week I heard sermons from multiple places about more things leading up to the manger and “The Christmas Story”. We also hear that, as we get closer to Christmas, many people's families are not together at this time of year, so many talk about Prodigal Son stories, so I hunted for something to change it up. I found this story that relates to this subject, and I hope you like it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-f7sCNeOM4
Prodigal Son Returns on Christmas Day - True Story
Welcome back. I hope you liked that story, and it may give you some hope that you may see some of your loved ones this year. As we get closer to the holiday next week, I suggest reaching out to make the connection and wish them a Merry Christmas, but don’t apply too much pressure.
Donations
On the Donations front, nothing new from Fountain. We will have other payment options soon, just waiting for the tax man stuff to finish. We covered Fountain and Stripe Setup in the last episode, so a Donate button lets you use your Credit Card and other Payment methods through Stripe.
A monthly Supporter option is available for just $3.50. If you haven’t seen the website, please take a look. A lot has been added since last week, and I think you will find it helpful, including the calendar, Church and Business List, and more. We will announce your first name or business name if you become a monthly supporter or make a donation of $19.59 or more, unless you include a note stating not to be anonymous (e.g., 'The year we were incorporated'). I hope some business people will support this to make it even better! Be a producer, subscribe, and share with others about this Podcast to help get the news out to everyone in Fairview. I need to catch up on social media things to get the word out, but I’m trying to get the website and payments sorted first.
Thank You
If you have found this podcast helpful, thank you. Please support the show with your time, talents, or treasure. If you have an idea or suggestion, please share it with us. You are a producer of this show. Talent, if you have the skills to help the show and help Fairview, let us know. Treasure, you are receiving this product for free, without paid advertisements. You are getting truly local news, and if that’s worth something, please consider supporting us financially using a value-for-value system so that we can do more.
Please Follow Us on Social Media and at hellofairview.com. A lot more things are coming.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:07,880
Howdy, and welcome to episode 14 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here
2
00:00:07,880 --> 00:00:11,740
in Fairview for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas. This is a weekly show
3
00:00:11,740 --> 00:00:17,180
released every Wednesday featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire. Local radio stations
4
00:00:17,180 --> 00:00:21,400
and newspapers don't exist in small towns like ours, so we'll use Hello Fairview to fill that
5
00:00:21,400 --> 00:00:25,980
void with news related to Fairview. This is a value for value podcast, which means you contribute
6
00:00:25,980 --> 00:00:30,340
what you can based on the value you receive. This concept was founded by the podfather himself,
7
00:00:30,460 --> 00:00:34,900
Adam Curry, and his co-host John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show over 18 years ago.
8
00:00:35,540 --> 00:00:40,280
Currently, this is just a one-man operation. So if you have any ideas, events, business
9
00:00:40,280 --> 00:00:44,980
opportunities, job openings, please don't hesitate to let us know on the contact form on the website.
10
00:00:46,060 --> 00:00:50,780
And we'll work to get those updates out to the next episode. You are a producer of the show. You
11
00:00:50,780 --> 00:00:55,660
are not the product because your time and attention is not being sold to advertisers for their value.
12
00:00:55,980 --> 00:01:00,740
Some shows will be longer, some will be shorter, but I'll do my best to always try to keep things relevant.
13
00:01:01,080 --> 00:01:01,700
Traffic time.
14
00:01:02,460 --> 00:01:03,080
Normal busy.
15
00:01:03,320 --> 00:01:08,340
You can wait two to five minutes to make your left right now in the morning and afternoon.
16
00:01:08,540 --> 00:01:10,900
Cumberland 100 is still getting regular work done.
17
00:01:11,360 --> 00:01:14,840
They're still working on building the culverts to the east of westbound lanes.
18
00:01:15,240 --> 00:01:24,820
Right now, the only thing that's really happening is as you go east from that intersection is there's a lot of metal covering up some of the holes that they've been digging stuff and relocating things.
19
00:01:24,820 --> 00:01:30,000
And so there's been people swerving into oncoming lanes because of that, because they don't want to go over the bumps.
20
00:01:30,520 --> 00:01:40,400
So just be careful when you're around that intersection, because it's pretty torn up right now as they move all the gas lines and go under people's driveways and tear up people's driveways from there.
21
00:01:40,820 --> 00:01:41,560
Red light update.
22
00:01:41,660 --> 00:01:44,520
We still got three updates, you know, Old Cox, Publix and Walmart.
23
00:01:45,480 --> 00:01:50,480
You know, we're waiting on the city city city center entrance to get its red lights actually turned on.
24
00:01:50,480 --> 00:01:53,780
It looks like they've got more of the grading done in city center.
25
00:01:53,780 --> 00:01:56,840
So maybe it's going to happen sooner than later.
26
00:01:57,060 --> 00:02:02,340
And then obviously there'll be a new red light eventually in a year or so at Cumberland and 100.
27
00:02:03,440 --> 00:02:08,580
So we're growing, you know, city news right now, you know, Christmas trees are wrapping up.
28
00:02:08,660 --> 00:02:14,800
There's still some Christmas trees at Messick Chiropractic from the Scouts BSA Troop 297 here in Fairview.
29
00:02:15,300 --> 00:02:20,180
They put a donation sign up there where you can just donate via PayPal.
30
00:02:20,180 --> 00:02:28,860
We'll put that in the show notes here, and you can donate to them because they did not break even this year because of how slow it was.
31
00:02:29,440 --> 00:02:31,320
Pinewood Christmas tree farms out.
32
00:02:31,480 --> 00:02:35,840
I know Farm Fresh Vintage still has some Christmas trees, and I saw some at Tractor Supply Co.
33
00:02:36,760 --> 00:02:39,520
Other city news, Shop of the Cop has been shopped.
34
00:02:39,860 --> 00:02:43,380
It looks like a good number of families and kids were helped out by this.
35
00:02:43,380 --> 00:02:54,900
They posted this on the city website, thanking everyone for their support and the city police for all they do for us on and off, I guess, the beat, which is very appreciative how much they support the community.
36
00:02:55,760 --> 00:02:58,380
And I'm always thankful for everything they do.
37
00:02:59,320 --> 00:03:01,760
And last call for picket fence orders.
38
00:03:01,920 --> 00:03:05,540
Help the Bowie Nature Park Playground by ordering a personalized fence picket.
39
00:03:05,980 --> 00:03:08,560
Deadline is December 31st, 2025.
40
00:03:08,920 --> 00:03:12,160
Your picket will be part of the playground fence there.
41
00:03:12,160 --> 00:03:20,280
and this is a great way to kind of immortalize your pets, your family, your teams, whatever.
42
00:03:20,920 --> 00:03:22,920
Get out there and help support.
43
00:03:23,020 --> 00:03:27,280
It's a really good way to do it and a cool Christmas present because it's a Christmas present forever.
44
00:03:29,400 --> 00:03:34,780
And then the leaf removal stuff, they actually added this all to the city website,
45
00:03:34,960 --> 00:03:39,380
which is great because it wasn't on there before where it talks about which zone they are.
46
00:03:39,380 --> 00:03:44,560
We have links in the show note to let you know that leaf service runs the first Tuesday
47
00:03:44,560 --> 00:03:47,320
in November through the fourth Tuesday in March.
48
00:03:47,600 --> 00:03:49,100
So Tuesday is your day.
49
00:03:49,660 --> 00:03:54,140
And they also talked about the chipper service is the fourth Tuesday on and all that.
50
00:03:54,660 --> 00:03:56,880
So you got that going there.
51
00:03:57,920 --> 00:04:01,840
And so we've got that and homes for sale.
52
00:04:02,040 --> 00:04:05,040
There are this will be kind of a new segment because I think it's interesting.
53
00:04:05,040 --> 00:04:09,980
Right now we've got 219 homes for sale at the date of this search.
54
00:04:10,260 --> 00:04:17,020
The highest is $3.495 million, 70 acres, three bed, four bath, 2,400 square feet.
55
00:04:17,320 --> 00:04:25,280
And the lowest is no acres, townhome, two bed, one full, one partial bath, 1,000 square foot.
56
00:04:25,440 --> 00:04:30,420
So very interesting range right there for there.
57
00:04:31,140 --> 00:04:33,020
So we'll keep an eye on that kind of stuff.
58
00:04:33,020 --> 00:04:42,740
town meeting updates uh so there's been no new meetings basically since uh the last uh show so
59
00:04:42,740 --> 00:04:47,600
there's no updates from any of the board of zoning appeals planning commission board of
60
00:04:47,600 --> 00:04:52,100
commissioners parks and recs board of commissioners town hall around town coffee or the beard board
61
00:04:52,100 --> 00:04:59,780
so we are all good to go there um so there's no new recaps of that but next town meetings there's
62
00:04:59,780 --> 00:05:07,080
know the next planning commission is january 13th the board of commissioners meeting on the 18th
63
00:05:07,080 --> 00:05:13,080
which would be tomorrow was canceled due to lack of actionable business items but the next one is
64
00:05:13,080 --> 00:05:18,400
still scheduled january 15th at 7 p.m and based on some of our discussions the planning commission
65
00:05:18,400 --> 00:05:24,420
will have a meeting between now and sometime around that january 13th and this january 15th
66
00:05:24,420 --> 00:05:28,840
Board of Commissioners on the TPUDC zoning ordinances and all that.
67
00:05:29,380 --> 00:05:33,000
Board of Commissioners Town Hall, next one is January 29th, 2026.
68
00:05:33,440 --> 00:05:35,980
Parks and Rec Board will be January 5th.
69
00:05:35,980 --> 00:05:41,500
Around Town Coffee is now January 14th, which is coming up here.
70
00:05:42,060 --> 00:05:43,420
And we will see that.
71
00:05:43,520 --> 00:05:46,360
No beer board has been planned at this time.
72
00:05:47,140 --> 00:05:51,900
The state of Tennessee, SK On, South Korean battery maker,
73
00:05:51,900 --> 00:05:56,680
announced on Thursday that it has come to an agreement with Ford Motor Corps to dissolve their
74
00:05:56,680 --> 00:06:02,120
$11 billion joint battery venture across three U.S. factories, including one here in Tennessee.
75
00:06:02,740 --> 00:06:09,340
The Blue Oval City includes the Ford's Electronic Vehicle Center and several other suppliers
76
00:06:09,340 --> 00:06:13,260
within there. So that's definitely going to affect some families here in Tennessee.
77
00:06:13,740 --> 00:06:17,820
But then I've seen other news that contradicts that, so I don't know which one is true,
78
00:06:17,820 --> 00:06:23,520
just like most news in the world. Tennessee lawmakers give the Tennessee State University
79
00:06:23,520 --> 00:06:28,760
a vote of confidence on Tuesday, just a year after the state's only historical black university
80
00:06:28,760 --> 00:06:34,400
needed help to pay its bills following decades of underfunding and I guess overspending.
81
00:06:34,400 --> 00:06:40,160
A joint government operations committee voted unanimously to extend the university's board of
82
00:06:40,160 --> 00:06:45,220
trustees for three more years up from the two-year extinction. So that's good.
83
00:06:46,620 --> 00:06:51,700
Tennessee state leaders announced Friday morning this last week that the state will partner with
84
00:06:51,700 --> 00:06:58,540
Turning Point USA, a conservative nonprofit founded by the late Charlie Kirk. Those state officials
85
00:06:58,540 --> 00:07:04,120
announced at an event on Tennessee State Capitol that there would be Club America chapters that
86
00:07:04,120 --> 00:07:20,550
are student within the state of Tennessee and I guess being kind of like officially sponsored The very first show of this podcast was one week after Charlie Kirk assassination which kind of sparked me to try to do something for the community and also for I guess
87
00:07:20,690 --> 00:07:22,830
Christianity with our little faith moment here and there.
88
00:07:23,490 --> 00:07:30,150
The Department of Agriculture has been awarded funding through the U.S. Department of Agriculture,
89
00:07:30,150 --> 00:07:37,630
the Emerging Markets Program, EMP, to boost export of Tennessee's hardwood sector through
90
00:07:37,630 --> 00:07:45,030
the outbound and inbound trade missions with India and Vietnam. So we'll have to see what
91
00:07:45,030 --> 00:07:50,810
that really comes out to. The article on this Tennessee's website had just basic blah. So we'll
92
00:07:50,810 --> 00:07:57,550
see. Laws be changing. This was a cool post that one of the news stations did that I thought was
93
00:07:57,550 --> 00:08:03,550
interesting, but Governor Bill Lee signed a couple of bills that have all come up that are
94
00:08:03,550 --> 00:08:08,230
all going to start January 1st of 2026. So here's some new laws that are coming.
95
00:08:08,990 --> 00:08:17,050
The THCA products being sold in the volunteer state, the Alcohol Beverage Commission takes over
96
00:08:17,050 --> 00:08:25,930
the regulation of hemp sales. THCA clarified as hemp-derived cannabinoid. THCP also deemed not a
97
00:08:25,930 --> 00:08:33,690
hemp derived camp cannabinoid uh and anything with concentration of but more than 0.3 percent
98
00:08:33,690 --> 00:08:39,290
on dry weight uh will not be able to be sold so there's going to be some things i guess disappearing
99
00:08:39,290 --> 00:08:48,650
from those shops around here this amendment uh will limit uh clarifies that the 0.3 percent is
100
00:08:48,650 --> 00:08:56,570
the limit for Delta 9 THC content in hemp derived cannabinoids. So that'll kind of change the Delta
101
00:08:56,570 --> 00:09:05,630
9 game here. Implied consent driving under the influence in Tennessee. This is refusing a
102
00:09:05,630 --> 00:09:12,070
requested blood test will trigger an implied consent charge. So this is changes to that.
103
00:09:12,070 --> 00:09:21,190
license suspension for refusal increases to 1.5 years for a misdemeanor DUI suspect with no
104
00:09:21,190 --> 00:09:27,090
related conviction within the past 10 years. So saying no is there. Saliva tests are authorized
105
00:09:27,090 --> 00:09:33,350
and results are admissible in court. So that kind of changes a little bit of the DUI things.
106
00:09:33,930 --> 00:09:37,950
Buying junk food with SNAP programs. We've seen this in the national news, but basically
107
00:09:37,950 --> 00:09:44,230
it's kind of bubbled down because the department has approved waivers for 18 states, including
108
00:09:44,230 --> 00:09:51,050
Tennessee, to ban the use of SNAP programs to buy certain sugary foods and drinks, prohibits
109
00:09:51,050 --> 00:09:57,590
the purchase of things like soda, energy drinks, candy, and prepared desserts with SNAP benefits.
110
00:09:58,850 --> 00:10:07,090
Savannah's law creates a registry of persistent domestic violence offenders. Basically, this law
111
00:10:07,090 --> 00:10:16,070
requires a person convicted or who has pled guilty to domestic assault to register, but only
112
00:10:16,070 --> 00:10:21,510
if the victim agrees to the defendant being required to register. So then it's part on the
113
00:10:21,510 --> 00:10:27,090
victim too. If the victim does not give consent or is not available, the court will require a person
114
00:10:27,090 --> 00:10:32,770
convicted of domestic assault to register under this law. However, if the court order defendants
115
00:10:32,770 --> 00:10:37,050
to register, then the court clerk must provide the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
116
00:10:37,090 --> 00:10:44,410
with a copy of qualifying convictions, and this must be done within 60 days of the sentence.
117
00:10:44,570 --> 00:10:49,110
So basically, the goal of the Savannah's Law is that if you are a persistent abuser,
118
00:10:49,650 --> 00:10:57,010
that you will go on a registry just like, I guess, a regular bad offender so that you can be found.
119
00:10:57,010 --> 00:11:03,090
And that way, it's something that sticks with you instead of you getting into a new relationship and beating that next person.
120
00:11:04,050 --> 00:11:05,470
Well, the bills.
121
00:11:05,470 --> 00:11:12,750
So basically, there's not too many things going on right now as they wrap up, but there's a couple meetings today.
122
00:11:12,930 --> 00:11:20,470
The Judiciary and Government's Joint Subcommittee and the Government Operations Rule Review is going down on the 17th.
123
00:11:21,110 --> 00:11:23,070
One's at 9 and one's at 1 today.
124
00:11:23,470 --> 00:11:25,990
And then there's nothing else between now and Christmas, obviously.
125
00:11:26,670 --> 00:11:29,730
Both agendas of these meetings were just blah.
126
00:11:29,730 --> 00:11:34,850
and the rule review was interesting because it seemed like it went over like department of
127
00:11:34,850 --> 00:11:42,310
veterinary support t-dot agricultural psychological schools it was all kinds of stuff but it didn't
128
00:11:42,310 --> 00:11:45,670
have any detail that would be worth kind of reporting but we'll see how that goes
129
00:11:45,670 --> 00:11:50,830
how's the hill back you know back at it you know how's the hill right now it's passable we're back
130
00:11:50,830 --> 00:11:56,590
to warmish the weather's guessers are you know predicting highs from the 40s to the 60s with
131
00:11:56,590 --> 00:12:04,170
some rain on thursday coming up and with lows varying from 20 to 53 so i guess winter is pausing
132
00:12:04,170 --> 00:12:13,210
for fall i bet i guess you know um we'll see businesses uh nothing new spotted ace hardware
133
00:12:13,210 --> 00:12:18,810
still brewing and making progress on its exterior kind of cladding uh we're seeing that property
134
00:12:18,810 --> 00:12:24,590
across some car orthotics is still for sale but after months of clearing and leveling which is
135
00:12:24,590 --> 00:12:31,190
actually the chapter art for this if you're using a podcasting 2.0 app. And that, I cannot still
136
00:12:31,190 --> 00:12:36,790
find that on their own website from the Realty Company. And it's not listed as commercial property
137
00:12:36,790 --> 00:12:43,410
because it should still be residential that needs to be rezoned. So we'll have to see that. There's
138
00:12:43,410 --> 00:12:48,510
still the same three commercial properties for sale right now. So we'll have to see how that goes.
139
00:12:49,170 --> 00:12:54,190
Farmer's Market. Make sure you visit the Farmer's Market every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 12
140
00:12:54,190 --> 00:12:59,510
p.m. at Messick Chiropractic and Fairview Fresh Deli Donuts for their life-changing apple fritters.
141
00:12:59,870 --> 00:13:06,650
Located down the road from Publix, there are so many good places to get fresh breads and treats,
142
00:13:06,830 --> 00:13:13,890
local beef and pork, local fruits and vegetables, along with some hot sauces, fishing lures,
143
00:13:14,550 --> 00:13:19,950
wooden crafts, and other gifts this time of year, and some hot sauce and barbecue sauce,
144
00:13:19,950 --> 00:13:26,170
which is amazing over there. So definitely check that out. Local business highlight. So we got
145
00:13:26,170 --> 00:13:32,990
Welker Construction and King's Port-a-Pots. So if you've got a septic tank, then you need a crew to
146
00:13:32,990 --> 00:13:36,870
help you avoid a problem. Many people believe that if they haven't had any trouble with their septic
147
00:13:36,870 --> 00:13:42,230
tank in the 15 to 20 years or longer, and it hasn't been pumped out, you might be surprised
148
00:13:42,230 --> 00:13:48,310
that when you do have trouble. Once that sludge builds up too deep, it can knock the T out of
149
00:13:48,310 --> 00:13:53,210
place and the outlet allowing sludge to drain into the drain fields and could lead to very
150
00:13:53,210 --> 00:13:59,410
costly repairs because then there is more than just water and fluids going out into your drain
151
00:13:59,410 --> 00:14:06,410
field there's actually like you know call it quote flushable wipes and stuff like that that end up
152
00:14:06,410 --> 00:14:13,690
down there and so to keep your system properly maintained make sure you get a pump out before
153
00:14:13,690 --> 00:14:29,300
you have backups or no fun and if you need any porta potties for event you can check them out too I put a link in there Job openings Well still a police officer opening Jingo Market Dixon Medical Associates Welch Associates which is the Fairview Car Wash
154
00:14:29,360 --> 00:14:30,520
They need an attendant over there.
155
00:14:31,020 --> 00:14:36,280
Cornerstone Financial, Publix, Dunkin', Domino's, Boys and Girls Club, Subway, Big Heart, Moving,
156
00:14:36,280 --> 00:14:42,380
The Pearl, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Fairview Animal Clinic, Sherman Williams, Sonic, AMS Seals,
157
00:14:42,380 --> 00:14:49,900
McDonald's, uh, SPEG, Tractor Supply Co., Marmon Holdings, Hardee's, and Destination Pet LLC. So
158
00:14:49,900 --> 00:14:57,260
there's like 20 plus jobs, uh, available right now that you can go to, uh, if you're looking for
159
00:14:57,260 --> 00:15:03,460
something in there. Yeah. So we're at 25 right now. So it's rocking history nugget. So, uh, you
160
00:15:03,460 --> 00:15:08,200
know, last, last show, we kind of talked a bit about the history of the unlucky number 13, but
161
00:15:08,200 --> 00:15:12,640
you know now we're back to fairview history and we're going to talk about mangram drive and what
162
00:15:12,640 --> 00:15:19,960
the name origin of that road is so this town's uh name was changed to fairview um and that post
163
00:15:19,960 --> 00:15:27,880
office was built on highway 100 and tele mangram was hired as the first first uh post mistresses
164
00:15:27,880 --> 00:15:33,880
most postmasters i guess uh the way they have it written there and the jingo post office was closed
165
00:15:33,880 --> 00:15:40,360
in 1937 when a new post office name after it was renamed Fairview was built on Highway 100
166
00:15:40,360 --> 00:15:48,480
with Tella Mangrum so the Jingo PO box was moved there to this site in 2006 from its original
167
00:15:48,480 --> 00:15:56,880
location from Elrod Road which I didn't even know that so it used to be on Elrod so which I guess
168
00:15:56,880 --> 00:16:02,080
makes sense because it was kind of the end of the edge of the city as you're coming in when 96 before
169
00:16:02,080 --> 00:16:08,480
it was highway 96 so that makes sense upcoming events well the adams family at the middle school
170
00:16:08,480 --> 00:16:12,780
was a hit a lot of people turned out they had a great show and i think lurch was my favorite
171
00:16:12,780 --> 00:16:17,280
background characters who with him on stilts became one of the stars of the show and i'm
172
00:16:17,280 --> 00:16:22,520
excited to see what's next for this crew and those students as they go through their theater journey
173
00:16:22,520 --> 00:16:27,760
next new event that we've got down on kind of the community calendar is at bowie park on december
174
00:16:27,760 --> 00:16:33,560
19th. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. is an ornament creation station. So if you want to go make some fun,
175
00:16:33,660 --> 00:16:38,560
cool gifts for some of your family members and take your kids along, that is a great place to go
176
00:16:38,560 --> 00:16:43,400
for the kids. You know, there's still tons of things here to do in Fairview to keep your kids
177
00:16:43,400 --> 00:16:48,100
engaged. There are some cheer programs, recreation teams from baseball, basketball, football, and
178
00:16:48,100 --> 00:16:53,900
many others. There's a thriving Girl Scout and Scouts BSA program from elementary to high school
179
00:16:53,900 --> 00:16:59,260
kids between both programs. If you have a homeschooler, always check out Bowie Park for
180
00:16:59,260 --> 00:17:04,100
the schedules of clubs that meet there. If you have kids are interested in dance, gymnastics,
181
00:17:04,260 --> 00:17:09,980
or cheer, please check out Lala's dance studio and elevate gymnastics and cheer. Vigilance
182
00:17:09,980 --> 00:17:15,440
Martial Arts is our local Taekwondo and Jiu-Jitsu school that teaches more than just moves.
183
00:17:16,220 --> 00:17:21,560
The Fairview Youth Jacket Wrestling Program is a great program with a lot of summer options.
184
00:17:21,560 --> 00:17:23,300
They've made a lot of champions out of there.
185
00:17:23,780 --> 00:17:24,900
So there we go.
186
00:17:25,120 --> 00:17:25,780
School news.
187
00:17:26,180 --> 00:17:30,200
Well, it's exam week for middle and high school and the last week of school for elementary.
188
00:17:30,740 --> 00:17:37,560
Christmas break starts on December 18th tomorrow as it's a half day and the kids come back on January 5th.
189
00:17:38,560 --> 00:17:39,560
Hawk and Tiger news.
190
00:17:39,700 --> 00:17:41,380
No new news since last week.
191
00:17:41,880 --> 00:17:43,500
Falcon news exam week.
192
00:17:43,560 --> 00:17:44,840
So not a lot of other things.
193
00:17:45,240 --> 00:17:49,780
But congratulations to Jenny Clark for winning the classified staff of the year award.
194
00:17:49,780 --> 00:17:56,380
December 19th is also the girls state wrestling tournament at summit high for a sixth graders,
195
00:17:56,380 --> 00:17:59,000
uh, at CPA and 5.
196
00:17:59,000 --> 00:18:02,820
PM for JV and 6 PM there and varsity at 7 PM.
197
00:18:02,820 --> 00:18:07,600
Uh, I know that there's based on the last report, there was three girls that all had
198
00:18:07,600 --> 00:18:09,700
placed pretty well in their weight classes.
199
00:18:09,840 --> 00:18:12,520
So hopefully they can all come back with some championships.
200
00:18:12,520 --> 00:18:13,120
So that's good.
201
00:18:13,320 --> 00:18:18,320
The Renaissance high school applications are still open until January 7th on January 15th
202
00:18:18,320 --> 00:18:18,960
at 6 PM.
203
00:18:18,960 --> 00:18:26,200
There'll be a mechatronics program information at the FPAC at the high school to learn more about this program if you've got an eighth grader.
204
00:18:26,660 --> 00:18:28,340
And if you like Adidas, there's a link there.
205
00:18:28,840 --> 00:18:34,820
December to remember today, you know, Monday started off with vacation shirt day, then Grinch day, then snow and PJ.
206
00:18:35,200 --> 00:18:39,560
And ugly sweater day is for the last day of this week.
207
00:18:39,620 --> 00:18:41,300
And some fundraiser links in the show notes.
208
00:18:41,980 --> 00:18:42,600
Jacket news.
209
00:18:42,720 --> 00:18:44,160
It's exam week two for them.
210
00:18:44,520 --> 00:18:47,500
This is the last day of exams before their half day tomorrow.
211
00:18:47,500 --> 00:18:52,620
The Fairview High School wrestling team earned second place at the Harpeth Duels on Friday.
212
00:18:53,380 --> 00:18:59,740
December 5th, they won over NCS 71-12 and Franklin 47-36, so a little bit tighter.
213
00:19:00,340 --> 00:19:10,020
And on Saturday, December 6th, at the 30th anniversary of the Harpeth Team Invitational Individual Tournament,
214
00:19:10,320 --> 00:19:15,580
we had three champions, and the team brought home third place for individual team points, so that's great.
215
00:19:15,580 --> 00:19:20,500
A new firearms and safety training starts next year at WCS.
216
00:19:20,620 --> 00:19:21,440
Got links in there.
217
00:19:21,800 --> 00:19:32,260
In 2024, the General Assembly passed a law stating that school districts must annually provide age-appropriate instruction for firearm safety within the 2025-26 school year.
218
00:19:32,640 --> 00:19:42,500
With the help of Williamson County, they've produced two firearm safety videos, which all students will view in January when they return from school from winter break.
219
00:19:42,600 --> 00:19:44,200
To see the video, it's linked in there.
220
00:19:44,200 --> 00:19:55,600
December 3rd through 7th, 15 Fairview High School JAG students attended the Jobs for America National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.
221
00:19:55,900 --> 00:20:01,080
During the conference, the students showcased their skills by competing in various employability events.
222
00:20:01,080 --> 00:20:18,240
We are proud to announce that two students earned first place in the decision-making contest, and one student achieved second place on the public speaking.
223
00:20:18,480 --> 00:20:21,800
So a very good accomplishment for the program.
224
00:20:22,260 --> 00:20:25,760
Applications for the innovation system are still out on ClassLink.
225
00:20:26,260 --> 00:20:29,060
From December 2nd, they close February 13th.
226
00:20:29,060 --> 00:20:34,960
jackets and senior rings can still be ordered tomorrow that half day make sure and go to dairy
227
00:20:34,960 --> 00:20:41,460
queen on highway 100 where 20 of sales are going to be donated to the high school on january 28th
228
00:20:41,460 --> 00:20:49,140
there will be a open house at the entrepreneurship center at 6 p.m the fcc la still has their amazon
229
00:20:49,140 --> 00:20:53,440
list for some of the stuff they're doing and obviously if you're driving we've had links before
230
00:20:53,440 --> 00:20:57,340
but you've got to get your checkpoints driver training and get your parking pass which all
231
00:20:57,340 --> 00:21:03,020
those links are there. Faith moment. Well, with the faith moment this week, I heard a couple
232
00:21:03,020 --> 00:21:09,600
sermons in multiple places this between now and then last show leading up to the manger scene,
233
00:21:09,680 --> 00:21:13,920
basically of the Christmas story as everyone tries to make the Christmas story kind of fall
234
00:21:13,920 --> 00:21:19,100
on Christmas, Christmas Eve services and obviously the Sunday after. And, you know,
235
00:21:19,180 --> 00:21:23,240
and we also got to hear as we get closer to Christmas story that many people's families
236
00:21:23,240 --> 00:21:35,230
are not together this time of year And so many people also talk about the prodigal son stories around this So I hunted for something to kind of change it up And I found this story that relates to this subject
237
00:21:35,330 --> 00:21:41,350
and I hope you like it. So here we go. Well, first off, Merry Christmas to whoever's watching this.
238
00:21:41,530 --> 00:21:46,050
And if you don't celebrate Christmas, at least you can celebrate the story that I'm about to tell.
239
00:21:46,930 --> 00:21:52,170
Because it's the essence of what this spiritual holiday is about. And it doesn't matter if you're
240
00:21:52,170 --> 00:21:58,130
Christian or not. Back a number of years ago, my son first started off working for the Highway
241
00:21:58,130 --> 00:22:05,910
Patrol in California. He asked me what I wanted for Christmas. He was at ends of what to buy me,
242
00:22:05,990 --> 00:22:10,430
and I said, don't buy me anything. I don't need anything. You know, I've got you. I love you.
243
00:22:10,650 --> 00:22:15,690
I got family. There's nothing I need materially. But if you really want to do something special
244
00:22:15,690 --> 00:22:23,310
for me, do a good deed to someone and then wrap that up and tell me about it on Christmas
245
00:22:23,310 --> 00:22:26,770
because that would be something special.
246
00:22:27,690 --> 00:22:29,190
So look for opportunities.
247
00:22:30,270 --> 00:22:33,790
Well, it turns out Christmas morning was rainy.
248
00:22:33,970 --> 00:22:34,730
It was cold.
249
00:22:35,730 --> 00:22:41,250
He's working on Highway 101 just north of San Francisco, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
250
00:22:41,250 --> 00:22:47,790
and he's driving along and he sees this young man, about his age, actually turned out to be exactly his age,
251
00:22:48,790 --> 00:22:51,570
standing on the side of the road in a dangerous area.
252
00:22:51,790 --> 00:22:54,710
You're not allowed to just be walking down the freeways in California.
253
00:22:55,650 --> 00:22:58,870
So he pulls over and it's Christmas morning, he doesn't want to hassle this guy
254
00:22:58,870 --> 00:23:02,010
and he sees the guy's all cold and wet from the rain
255
00:23:02,010 --> 00:23:07,350
and he sees that he's dirty and grubby, his fingernails are all filthy
256
00:23:07,350 --> 00:23:11,110
and his clothes are smelly
257
00:23:11,110 --> 00:23:14,910
and he hasn't been warm and comfortable in a long time.
258
00:23:16,290 --> 00:23:17,130
And he talks to him.
259
00:23:17,790 --> 00:23:21,390
Tells him to get off the freeway, get in the back of his vehicle.
260
00:23:21,570 --> 00:23:23,730
So he's in the back of the police car and he starts talking to him
261
00:23:23,730 --> 00:23:24,550
and asking him questions.
262
00:23:25,550 --> 00:23:29,590
And he asks the dispatcher to run any information on the guy,
263
00:23:29,650 --> 00:23:30,670
if he's got any warrants or anything.
264
00:23:30,670 --> 00:23:31,390
And he comes back.
265
00:23:31,470 --> 00:23:32,450
The guy's on parole.
266
00:23:33,630 --> 00:23:36,210
And he's been out of jail a couple months.
267
00:23:36,210 --> 00:23:40,230
and he's been living apparently on the side of the road
268
00:23:40,230 --> 00:23:44,570
under overpasses and wherever he could scrounge a place to live.
269
00:23:45,270 --> 00:23:47,990
Had no job, had no income, had nothing.
270
00:23:48,970 --> 00:23:52,130
So my son's listening to this and he's feeling really kind of bad for this guy
271
00:23:52,130 --> 00:23:56,050
and he pulls off the road and he's going to get ready just to let him off
272
00:23:56,050 --> 00:23:59,470
and tell him to stay off the freeway and be on his way.
273
00:23:59,630 --> 00:24:02,470
And then he's looking at the rest of the report that he got from the dispatcher
274
00:24:02,470 --> 00:24:04,350
and it had listed an address.
275
00:24:04,350 --> 00:24:07,090
there was an address and he went to jail, there was an address listed.
276
00:24:07,810 --> 00:24:11,690
And the address was in Mill Valley and at a very exclusive neighborhood.
277
00:24:11,690 --> 00:24:15,310
And it was only less than a half a mile or so away.
278
00:24:16,110 --> 00:24:18,290
So he goes, hop back in the car.
279
00:24:18,750 --> 00:24:20,790
He goes, I'm going to take you this address.
280
00:24:21,330 --> 00:24:22,570
And the guy goes, oh, no, no, no.
281
00:24:22,610 --> 00:24:24,510
That's my, that's my parents' address.
282
00:24:24,610 --> 00:24:26,130
They haven't seen me in over four years.
283
00:24:27,490 --> 00:24:32,530
He says, last time they, they saw me, I, you know, I was in trouble.
284
00:24:32,530 --> 00:24:33,650
I was doing things.
285
00:24:34,350 --> 00:24:36,390
I don't know if they're even going to accept me back.
286
00:24:37,070 --> 00:24:40,430
I haven't talked to them in four years, so they have no idea where I've been.
287
00:24:40,510 --> 00:24:41,530
They don't even know I've been in jail.
288
00:24:43,530 --> 00:24:48,830
So my son's listening to this, and he also knows that there are rules and regulations as well.
289
00:24:48,910 --> 00:24:52,710
You just don't drive a guy to somebody's house and drop them off.
290
00:24:53,550 --> 00:24:55,330
And he's definitely not following procedures.
291
00:24:55,890 --> 00:24:58,210
He's going out of his way to give this guy a taxi ride.
292
00:24:58,950 --> 00:25:02,570
And he's also going to be knocking on somebody's door, and he doesn't know the reception he's going to get.
293
00:25:02,570 --> 00:25:04,310
Maybe these people don't want to see him.
294
00:25:04,350 --> 00:25:07,870
or maybe they do, but it's Christmas Day.
295
00:25:08,470 --> 00:25:12,770
It's Christmas Day, and he knows that nobody should be left homeless
296
00:25:12,770 --> 00:25:15,870
and cold and wet when their parents got this beautiful house
297
00:25:15,870 --> 00:25:19,070
just a short distance away from where he was staying.
298
00:25:19,570 --> 00:25:20,690
It just didn't seem right.
299
00:25:21,590 --> 00:25:22,910
So he pulls up in front of the house.
300
00:25:23,030 --> 00:25:24,990
He leaves the guy in the back seat, and he says, wait here.
301
00:25:26,150 --> 00:25:27,530
Goes up and knocks on the door.
302
00:25:29,690 --> 00:25:32,730
The father opens the door, sees my son in a uniform,
303
00:25:32,870 --> 00:25:33,750
doesn't know what's going on.
304
00:25:33,750 --> 00:25:37,150
So my son explains to him, and the guy gets all teary-eyed.
305
00:25:38,490 --> 00:25:41,110
And then he calls for his wife, and his wife comes.
306
00:25:41,170 --> 00:25:43,150
They're both standing there, and they're both looking at the car
307
00:25:43,150 --> 00:25:45,710
with their son sitting in the back seat.
308
00:25:46,670 --> 00:25:49,830
And I tell my son, you know, for four years,
309
00:25:49,890 --> 00:25:51,970
we have no idea if our son was alive or dead.
310
00:25:52,050 --> 00:25:55,610
We had no idea if he was cold, wet, being taken care of.
311
00:25:55,730 --> 00:25:57,150
We have no idea what was up to.
312
00:25:57,930 --> 00:25:59,370
We want nothing for Christmas.
313
00:26:00,010 --> 00:26:01,450
We just wanted our son back.
314
00:26:01,450 --> 00:26:06,650
we've been praying and praying and praying that we'd find out something about our son
315
00:26:06,650 --> 00:26:12,790
and now you've delivered it to us. It's a miracle on Christmas. It's a beautiful thing.
316
00:26:13,410 --> 00:26:19,510
So my son felt pretty good. He went back and he opened the door to the squad car and told the
317
00:26:19,510 --> 00:26:25,470
young man to go. His parents were waiting for him and the kid just kind of slowly walked. He wasn't
318
00:26:25,470 --> 00:26:30,830
sure what kind of reception he was going to get. My son stood by the car watching and when he got
319
00:26:30,830 --> 00:26:32,810
there, both parents reached out
320
00:26:32,810 --> 00:26:34,950
and grabbed him and hugged him and kissed him.
321
00:26:36,710 --> 00:26:37,150
And
322
00:26:37,150 --> 00:26:38,010
everybody was cheerful.
323
00:26:39,330 --> 00:26:41,090
My son got back into his vehicle,
324
00:26:42,410 --> 00:26:42,930
started
325
00:26:42,930 --> 00:26:43,890
the engine up and said,
326
00:26:44,430 --> 00:26:47,030
okay, Dad, now I got you a Christmas
327
00:26:47,030 --> 00:26:48,890
gift. I'll send you
328
00:26:48,890 --> 00:26:50,690
this story. And he did.
329
00:26:51,930 --> 00:26:52,850
Now, it's just about
330
00:26:52,850 --> 00:26:54,930
the prodigal son
331
00:26:54,930 --> 00:26:57,010
returning home, which is probably one of the oldest stories
332
00:26:57,010 --> 00:26:58,990
in the world. But there's a real
333
00:26:58,990 --> 00:27:06,130
lesson of humanity there and compassion and love. And also the value of praying. These parents
334
00:27:06,130 --> 00:27:13,090
prayed that their son would return home to them. Prayed they'd find out something. And on Christmas
335
00:27:13,090 --> 00:27:19,050
Day, their prayers were answered. Welcome back. I hope you like this story and it can give you
336
00:27:19,050 --> 00:27:24,610
some hope that you may see some of your loved ones this time of year. As we get closer to the holiday
337
00:27:24,610 --> 00:27:29,850
next week, I suggest reaching out and making connections and just wish them a Merry Christmas
338
00:27:29,850 --> 00:27:34,550
and see if something happens. Don't force it. Don't apply too much pressure.
339
00:27:35,610 --> 00:27:39,830
You know, let them kind of be led back there, but make sure you tell them you love them,
340
00:27:39,910 --> 00:27:45,710
you miss them, and, you know, Merry Christmas to make that happen. Donations, nothing new on the
341
00:27:45,710 --> 00:27:50,890
donation front, so we'll just keep on rocking and rolling there. But overall, you know, hey,
342
