EP: 12 "That was a lot of food”

This is the Fairview, TN News from Nov 26th Dec 3rd 2025.

Welcome to Episode 12 (wow, a dozen already) of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here in Fairview, for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas.  This is a weekly show, released every Wednesday, featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire.  Local Radio stations and newspapers don’t exist in small towns like ours, so we will use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview.  This is a Value for Value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value you receive.  This concept was founded by the PodFather himself, Adam Curry, and his Co-host, John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show, over 18 years ago.

Currently, this is a one-man operation, so if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, or job openings, please don't hesitate to let me know.  You are a producer of this show; you are not the product, because your time and attention are not being sold to advertisers for value.  Some shows will be longer, others shorter, but I will do my best to keep things relevant.

Traffic Time

Normal Busy, where you can wait 2-5 minutes to make a left in the morning and the afternoon.  Cumberland, and 100 is still getting some regular work. They are still working to build culverts on the East- and westbound sides to widen the road, along with some mini-bridges.  We are less than one year out from it being done.

Redlight Update – We currently still have three (Old Cox, Publix, & Walmart). Still, we will soon be getting one at the new City Center Entrance and at the Cumberland and 100 intersection when that expansion occurs. I’m not sure how it will help or hurt yet, but I hope the crossing guard can control it during the morning and evening school rush.

City Center – Traffic closures will continue periodically as they appear to be finishing some of the final drainage and grading.

We’re Growing

City News

Christmas Trees – There will be some at Meseck Chiropractic for the Scouts BSA Troop 297 here in Fairview.  Then there will also be Christmas Trees at Farm Fresh Vintage.  There are also Christmas Trees at the Pinewood Christmas Tree Farm at the edge of Franklin.  There may be some at some of our big-box stores, but I would highly recommend supporting a small business or a non-profit group.

Special Elections: Early Voting has ended, and the winner is?  At 95% counted, Matt Van Epps pulled in 53.9% of the vote while Behn earned 45.1%.   Only around 180k voted out of an estimated 800k-1 million residents based on the previous census data.

The State of TN (Not In Order)

  1. Matt Van Epps won the 7th District by an 8% margin, with around 180k residents voting, nearly a million in this district.
  2. The City of Martin, TN, had its Mayor and Economic Development Director indicted on multiple theft and misconduct charges.
  3. Book publishers and literary groups are challenging orders by Tennessee’s secretary of state for public libraries to audit children’s collections and eliminate books dealing with gender identity.
  4. The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security released preliminary statistics showing eight traffic fatalities during the 2025 Thanksgiving holiday travel period, matching the number recorded during the same period last year.
  5. The Launch pit is prepped with the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) in the hole, and the TBM will start on December 15th. Construction on the Music City Loop has stopped after one of the contractors reported they haven’t been paid for an agreed-upon milestone.  There has been more talk about more stops, and there may be a public hearing with the Metro Council.  https://www.boringcompany.com/blogdec2025

The Bills https://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislation/

Nothing since last week, and nothing until December 8th is talking about trash literally with the Solid Waste Task Force and then a Fiscal Review on December 10th.

How’s the hill, weather report

Back to it, How’s the hill?  Passable. It be cold yo.  There has been a little sleet here and there with our cold and rain from the previous week.  The weather guessers are predicting highs in the 40s, with lows in the 30s starting this week.  Maybe we are heading into Winter finally?

New Businesses

Nothing New was spotted.  Ace Hardware is still brewing and making some progress.  They have made a lot of progress outside.  The property across from Carr Orthodontics finally has a For Sale sign on it, after months of clearing and leveling.  Other than that, I spotted nothing new this week, and I'm waiting to see what else is coming.  There are still a couple of properties for sale around the area.

Farmers Market

Make sure to head to the Farmers Market every Saturday Morning, 8 AM to 12 PM (Not Earlier, as other posts have posted) at Meseck Chiropractor and Fairview Fresh Deli for their life-changing Apple Fritters, located down the road from Publix.  There are so many good places to get breads and treats, local beef and pork, local fruits, and vegetables, along with some hot sauce, fishing lures, and other holiday gifts this time of the year.

Brick and Mortar Highlight

Varden’s Body Shop

Varden's Body Shop & Motor Sales, LLC. This is a Family-owned and operated business since 1969. Specializing in auto body repair and auto sales.  They are one of the local body shops in town, and they have an excellent reputation. I have personally used them, and they did a great job of getting me back up and running.  They are also a massive supporter of Fairview and our teams, sports, and schools.

History Nugget

Bowie Hollow Road and Bowie Lake Road - Name Origin

Named for Dr. Evangeline Bowie, the founder of Bowie Nature Park, she turned 722 barren and eroded acres into beautiful forest land. Her land management techniques, including building terraces, digging lakes, and creating a hydrology system, are now highly regarded by land management experts. There are 17 miles of trails for running, walking, and horseback riding. There is also fishing.

Recap

The Turkey Trot put on by Anytime Fitness went great, there were over 50 there, and many kids and families did the 1-mile run, and a couple of large families participated in the 5k run too.  The top female was a member of the Middle School Track Team, and behind her was her mom.  The top 2 males were both zooming and finished at the same time.  Thank you for putting on the event!

Faith Moment

This sermon is from our own One Church Home by Ian Gilchrist, talking about the start of Christmas and how it’s the same story every year for many churches, but it’s also the most recognized global holiday.

More Than A Prophecy | Genesis 3:15 | Pastor Ian Gilchrist

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmxjnyvfXc0&t

Welcome back. I hope you learned a couple of things. The illustration of trying to find a single marked silver dollar in the state of Texas, stacked 216 deep (0.1 inch each, 18 inches tall), when it comes to the prophecies filled with Jesus.  I suggest listening to the rest of it because he does a good job of setting things up for more details soon.

Donations

On the Donations front, nothing new from Fountain.  We will have other payment options soon, just waiting for the tax man stuff to finish. We covered Fountain and Stripe Setup in the last episode, so a Donate button lets you use your Credit Card and other Payment methods through Stripe.

A monthly Supporter option is available for just $3.50.  If you haven’t seen the website, please take a look. A lot has been added since last week, and I think you will find it helpful, including the calendar, Church and Business List, and more.  We will announce your first name or business name if you become a monthly supporter or make a donation of $19.59 or more, unless you include a note stating not to be anonymous (e.g., 'The year we were incorporated').  I hope some business people will support this to make it even better!  Be a producer, subscribe, and share with others about this Podcast to help get the news out to everyone in Fairview.  I need to catch up on social media things to get the word out, but I’m trying to get the website and payments sorted first.

Thank You

If you have found this podcast helpful, thank you.  Please support the show with your time, talents, or treasure.  If you have an idea or suggestion, please share it with us. You are a producer of this show.  Talent, if you have the skills to help the show and help Fairview, let us know.  Treasure, you are receiving this product for free, without paid advertisements. You are getting truly local news, and if that’s worth something, please consider supporting us financially using a value-for-value system so that we can do more.

Please Follow Us on Social Media and at hellofairview.com. A lot more things are coming.

1
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:09,140
Howdy and welcome to episode 12. Wow, a dozen already of Hello Fairview, your local podcast

2
00:00:09,140 --> 00:00:13,740
made right here in Fairview for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas. This is a weekly show

3
00:00:13,740 --> 00:00:19,300
released every Wednesday, featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire local radio stations

4
00:00:19,300 --> 00:00:24,260
and newspapers don't exist in small towns like ours anymore. So we will use Hello Fairview to

5
00:00:24,260 --> 00:00:29,800
fill that void of news and related to Fairview. This is a value for value podcast, which means

6
00:00:29,800 --> 00:00:34,200
you contribute what you can based on the value you receive. This concept was founded by the

7
00:00:34,200 --> 00:00:38,840
Podfather himself, Adam Curry, and his co-host John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show over 18 years

8
00:00:38,840 --> 00:00:44,540
ago. Currently, this is just a one-man band. So if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities,

9
00:00:44,760 --> 00:00:50,560
job openings, or just overall news or history information, please let us know. Just reach out

10
00:00:50,560 --> 00:00:55,040
on the contact form. You are a producer of this show. You are not the product because your time

11
00:00:55,040 --> 00:01:00,320
and attention are not being sold to advertisers for their value. Some shows will be longer,

12
00:01:00,520 --> 00:01:03,880
the others will be shorter, but I'll always do my best to try to keep things relevant.

13
00:01:04,620 --> 00:01:10,000
Traffic time. It's normal busy. You can wait two to five minutes to make a lift in the morning and

14
00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:14,900
the afternoon. Cumberland 100 is still getting some regular work as they still keep building

15
00:01:14,900 --> 00:01:20,520
those culverts on the east and westbound sides to widen the road, which is basically some mini

16
00:01:20,520 --> 00:01:26,180
bridges. We're less than one year out from it being done. So I know that'll be really, really

17
00:01:26,180 --> 00:01:31,880
great to see. Red light update. We still have three right now. We're still waiting to see what's

18
00:01:31,880 --> 00:01:37,320
going to happen with city center when they actually install those lights, which we'll have to see how

19
00:01:37,320 --> 00:01:42,820
that goes. City center as a whole, traffic closures will continue periodically as they appear to be

20
00:01:42,820 --> 00:01:48,060
finishing some of the final drainage and grading of that property. So we might actually start seeing

21
00:01:48,060 --> 00:01:53,860
some foundations laid down. There's still a big pile of dirt, so we'll see. We're growing. City

22
00:01:53,860 --> 00:01:59,760
news. So right now, Christmas trees are the top of the list. There'll be some at Messick Chiropractic

23
00:01:59,760 --> 00:02:05,660
by the Scouts BSA Troop 297 located here in Fairview. There's also some Christmas trees at

24
00:02:05,660 --> 00:02:10,160
Farm Fresh Vintage and also at the Pinewood Christmas Tree Farm, which is at the very edge

25
00:02:10,160 --> 00:02:15,120
of Franklin. There may be some other big box stores that have Christmas trees that may actually

26
00:02:15,120 --> 00:02:19,700
be cheaper, but I'd highly recommend supporting a small business or a nonprofit group like

27
00:02:19,700 --> 00:02:21,800
Scouts or one of our local businesses here.

28
00:02:22,240 --> 00:02:25,380
It'll make a bigger impact in our local world for that.

29
00:02:26,020 --> 00:02:27,000
So I've got the links there.

30
00:02:27,580 --> 00:02:30,980
The special election, you know, that was December 2nd.

31
00:02:31,000 --> 00:02:33,040
We've talked about that for about a month and a half.

32
00:02:34,120 --> 00:02:40,520
Overall, the voting has ended and the winner is at 95% counted, Matt Van Epps at 53.9%

33
00:02:40,520 --> 00:02:50,000
of the vote and Afton been at 45.1% of the vote. Only 180,000 people voted at an estimated 800,000

34
00:02:50,000 --> 00:02:58,420
to 1 million voters. So we're basically talking about if it was a million, 18% turnout, if that

35
00:02:58,420 --> 00:03:03,420
was actually the number. So we'll have to see how that actually shakes out. Other city news,

36
00:03:03,560 --> 00:03:08,760
last call for your picket fence orders. Help support Bowie Nature Park by ordering your

37
00:03:08,760 --> 00:03:14,040
personalized fence picket. We've seen some of the scout troops, some of the local businesses,

38
00:03:14,740 --> 00:03:21,280
a lot of eulogy things and thanking the mammals and pat balls, their dogs. We've seen all kinds

39
00:03:21,280 --> 00:03:26,480
of them that have been engraved. This is a great opportunity to support the park and leave a

40
00:03:26,480 --> 00:03:31,040
lasting legacy in that playground, which is really cool. The links are in the show notes,

41
00:03:31,040 --> 00:03:50,180
So definitely check them out. Town meetings. So there's since our last meeting, there's been no new meetings of the Board of Zoning Appeals, Planning Commission, Board of Commissioners, Board of Commissioner Town Hall, Park and Landscape Board, Round Town Coffee and and then the beer board.

42
00:03:50,180 --> 00:04:04,740
So the last things we have that I think is a good total for us to just keep going is the planning commission on 10-14-25 approved 183 homes and on 11-18-25 approved another 163 homes.

43
00:04:05,420 --> 00:04:08,040
So we're still growing there.

44
00:04:08,580 --> 00:04:14,140
So our next town meetings between now and then, there's no board of zoning appeals done.

45
00:04:14,660 --> 00:04:18,080
Planning commission has a meeting December 9th at our town hall.

46
00:04:18,080 --> 00:04:24,060
Board of Commissioners has a meeting tomorrow on December 4th and the 18th at 7 p.m.

47
00:04:24,240 --> 00:04:29,420
There's no agenda for the December 4th meeting, and we are less than 24 hours out.

48
00:04:29,540 --> 00:04:38,580
We have to do better at this because we will assume this last docket from the Planning Commission is what will be put on the agenda.

49
00:04:39,460 --> 00:04:42,560
But we don't know because they didn't publish it, so that's not good.

50
00:04:42,560 --> 00:04:46,560
The next Board of Commissioners Town Hall is all the way in January on January 29th.

51
00:04:46,560 --> 00:04:52,900
29th. Parks and Landscape Board is this Friday on December 5th at 7 p.m. at the Historical Village.

52
00:04:53,300 --> 00:04:58,140
And I know based on the last Board of Commissioners meeting, there'll be a lot of good discussion there

53
00:04:58,140 --> 00:05:03,060
because they've started to really hopefully fire things up and try to get some projects planned to

54
00:05:03,060 --> 00:05:09,100
make our city and parks even better, which is awesome. And Around Town Coffee is December 10th

55
00:05:09,100 --> 00:05:13,420
and January 14th, and there is no new beer board meeting planned.

56
00:05:14,800 --> 00:05:19,860
Recap meetings, nothing to recap because there is nothing since last show.

57
00:05:20,500 --> 00:05:23,960
The state of Tennessee, Matt Van Epps, just like we talked about,

58
00:05:23,960 --> 00:05:29,180
won the 7th district by just an 8% margin with around 180,000 people voting

59
00:05:29,180 --> 00:05:31,580
out of around a million people in this district.

60
00:05:32,100 --> 00:05:36,220
The city of Martin, Tennessee, had its mayor and economic development director

61
00:05:36,220 --> 00:05:43,160
indicted on multiple theft and misconduct charges. This is, I think, very, I think it's

62
00:05:43,160 --> 00:05:48,680
more common than most people think that there's sometimes a lot of easy ways for fraud to happen

63
00:05:48,680 --> 00:05:56,280
in small towns. So this is a good reminder to do your things. Some book publishers and literary

64
00:05:56,280 --> 00:06:00,940
groups are challenging orders by the Tennessee Secretary of State for public libraries to audit

65
00:06:00,940 --> 00:06:06,560
children's collections and eliminate books dealing with gender identity. The Tennessee

66
00:06:06,560 --> 00:06:11,260
Department of Safety and Homeland Security released the preliminary statistics showing

67
00:06:11,260 --> 00:06:17,320
eight traffic fatalities during the Thanksgiving travel holiday period, which matches the same

68
00:06:17,320 --> 00:06:24,820
period of last year. So was it any better or was it any worse? That is a terrible tragedy for

69
00:06:24,820 --> 00:06:29,400
everyone involved in that. And we will send our prayers to those families.

70
00:06:30,740 --> 00:06:37,140
And Music City Loop, the lodge pit is prepped for the TBM, the tunnel boring machine in the hole,

71
00:06:37,280 --> 00:06:41,640
and it will start drilling, I guess, on December 15th. But just like we talked about last week,

72
00:06:42,060 --> 00:06:46,740
construction had stopped with one of a couple of the major contractors have it not being paid

73
00:06:46,740 --> 00:06:50,680
based on the milestones. So we'll have to see. And there's also been more talk that there could

74
00:06:50,680 --> 00:06:55,600
be a public hearing. I haven't found that referenced yet. And I actually put the latest

75
00:06:55,600 --> 00:07:00,740
December 2025 update from the Boring Company on there. It's got some interesting facts that you

76
00:07:00,740 --> 00:07:08,260
may have not seen on the news. The bills, nothing since last week. And there's nothing until December

77
00:07:08,260 --> 00:07:15,380
8th, which is talking about trash, literally with trash, the Solid Waste Task Force, and then a

78
00:07:15,380 --> 00:07:21,380
fiscal review on December 10th. There is the agenda for the solid waste task force. Doesn't

79
00:07:21,380 --> 00:07:26,320
really have any details other than they're going to have lunch and some of the speakers. How's the

80
00:07:26,320 --> 00:07:33,240
hill? Well, it'd be cold, yo. There has been some sleet here with some of the cold and rain we had

81
00:07:33,240 --> 00:07:38,260
in the previous week. The weather guessers are predicting highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s

82
00:07:38,260 --> 00:07:45,060
starting this week and continuing on for a while. Maybe we're finally heading into winter. We will

83
00:07:45,060 --> 00:07:52,080
see businesses uh nothing new was spotted ace hardware is brewing and making some progress

84
00:07:52,080 --> 00:07:56,060
they've made a lot of progress outside starting to really like start to get the outside cladding

85
00:07:56,060 --> 00:08:03,280
and all that uh the property across from core uh our car orthodontics finally has a for sale sign

86
00:08:03,280 --> 00:08:08,760
on it uh after clearing and leveling for a couple months and a couple questions that were raised at

87
00:08:08,760 --> 00:08:14,420
planning commission and board of commissioner meetings uh i don't find i went to the web the

88
00:08:14,420 --> 00:08:19,540
website of the realtor and it's not on there. So they've got the sign up there, but they don't

89
00:08:19,540 --> 00:08:25,820
actually have it listed on LoopNet or their own website. Other than that, I didn't spot anything

90
00:08:25,820 --> 00:08:31,280
new to see what else is coming. There's still some properties for sale in this area. So we'll

91
00:08:31,280 --> 00:08:35,140
have to see how that goes. Farmer's Market. Make sure you're heading to the Farmer's Market every

92
00:08:35,140 --> 00:08:41,020
Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Messick Chiropractic and Fairview Fresh Deli Donuts for their life

93
00:08:41,020 --> 00:08:45,540
changing apple fritters located down the road from and across from Publix. There's so many good

94
00:08:45,540 --> 00:08:51,420
places to get breads, treats, local beef and pork, fruits, vegetables, along with some hot sauce,

95
00:08:51,520 --> 00:08:54,940
fishing lures, and other holiday gifts this time of year. So definitely check them out.

96
00:08:55,280 --> 00:08:59,260
Our brick and mortar highlight is Varden's Body Shop. Varden's Body Shop,

97
00:08:59,600 --> 00:09:06,380
this is a family owned and operated business since 1969, specializing in auto body repair

98
00:09:06,380 --> 00:09:12,100
and auto sales. They are one of the local body shops in our town and have an excellent reputation.

99
00:09:12,420 --> 00:09:15,620
I personally have used them and they did a great job of getting me back up and running.

100
00:09:16,180 --> 00:09:22,440
They are also a massive supporter of Fairview, our team, sports and schools. You will see their

101
00:09:22,440 --> 00:09:28,500
banners all over the place and highlighted in the theater and stuff like that. So definitely

102
00:09:28,500 --> 00:09:33,420
check them out. They're very good people and you may have seen Varden's produce across the street

103
00:09:33,420 --> 00:09:39,420
to and also firewood from sale from them. Job openings. Well, it looks like the associate

104
00:09:39,420 --> 00:09:45,680
planner has been filled based on that last week's episode. The police officer position is the only

105
00:09:45,680 --> 00:09:51,000
other city position open. And then we have positions at Jingo Market, Dixon Medical Associates,

106
00:09:51,120 --> 00:09:56,660
Walmart, Cornerstone Financial Credit Union, Publix, Dunkin' Donuts, Domino's, the Boys and

107
00:09:56,660 --> 00:10:03,680
Girls Club, Subway, both of them, Big Heart Moving Company, The Pearl, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut,

108
00:10:03,800 --> 00:10:08,260
Sherman Williams. Sherman Williams is a bilingual customer service specialist.

109
00:10:09,240 --> 00:10:18,000
Sonic, AMS Seals, and McDonald's SPEG as an assembler, Tractor Supply Co., Marmon Holdings,

110
00:10:18,000 --> 00:10:25,600
Hardee's, and Destination Pet LLC. So if you need a job, there's definitely some openings. And if

111
00:10:25,600 --> 00:10:30,420
you are a job creator, definitely let us know and we will give it a shout out and put it on the

112
00:10:30,420 --> 00:10:35,500
website. Just fill out the contact form on the website. History Nugget. This week we'll talk

113
00:10:35,500 --> 00:10:41,260
about the Bowie Hollow Road and Bowie Lake Road and what the name origin is. As you could have

114
00:10:41,260 --> 00:10:45,920
guessed, because one of the first History Nuggets was about the park. This is named after Dr.

115
00:10:46,200 --> 00:10:51,920
Evangeline Bowie, the founder of Bowie Nature Park, where she turned 722 barren eroded acres

116
00:10:51,920 --> 00:10:57,280
into beautiful forest land. Her land management teaching, including building terraces, digging

117
00:10:57,280 --> 00:11:02,580
lakes, and creating hydrology system are now highly regarded by land management experts.

118
00:11:03,400 --> 00:11:08,380
There are over 17 miles of trails for running, walking, and horseback riding, and there's also

119
00:11:08,380 --> 00:11:14,640
fishing. It's a great, great place to go to. Upcoming events. Well, recap first. The turkey

120
00:11:14,640 --> 00:11:20,160
trot put on by Anytime Fitness went great. There were over 50 plus people there. Many kids and

121
00:11:20,160 --> 00:11:25,460
families did the one mile run and a couple large families participated in the 5k run too

122
00:11:25,460 --> 00:11:32,060
which was great to see and they were all trash talking each other and of who beat who and this

123
00:11:32,060 --> 00:11:43,316
aunt and this brother and this sister so it was really fun to see the top female runner was a middle school track team member and has also been on the cross country team And behind her was her mom

124
00:11:43,736 --> 00:11:46,956
And then the top two males both went zooming by at the same time.

125
00:11:47,216 --> 00:11:50,396
They were definitely rocking and rolling and had it out there.

126
00:11:50,396 --> 00:11:55,636
So thank you Anytime Fitness and the city for helping support this event.

127
00:11:56,356 --> 00:11:57,276
New events.

128
00:11:57,796 --> 00:12:00,156
Well, this weekend is the Christmas parade.

129
00:12:00,156 --> 00:12:04,236
And on December 5th at 5 p.m. is the Christmas tree lighting.

130
00:12:04,916 --> 00:12:08,236
And December 6th at 10 a.m. is the parade.

131
00:12:08,436 --> 00:12:18,736
Make sure you get to your spot early, just like any parade that runs down in Fairview from the Lions Club to to S.P.E.G.

132
00:12:19,256 --> 00:12:22,836
And so that you don't get locked in and it will take a while.

133
00:12:22,836 --> 00:12:25,736
So do not be in a rush, bundle up, dress for the weather.

134
00:12:26,316 --> 00:12:29,856
The FMS Theater has the Adams family starting next week.

135
00:12:30,156 --> 00:12:33,716
And that's December 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th.

136
00:12:34,076 --> 00:12:39,336
This is definitely something you should go check out and support our schools and our students.

137
00:12:40,896 --> 00:12:47,116
The Booze December schedule is out, and I have put all that stuff on the calendar, so definitely check it out.

138
00:12:47,896 --> 00:12:52,636
For the kids, there's a ton of activities in Fairview to keep your kids engaged.

139
00:12:52,776 --> 00:12:57,916
There are some cheer programs and recreation teams from baseball, basketball, football, and others.

140
00:12:57,916 --> 00:13:03,376

141
00:13:03,376 --> 00:13:07,896

142
00:13:07,896 --> 00:13:13,516

00:13:25,036 --> 00:13:29,556

149
00:13:46,456 --> 00:13:51,136
waiting for the christmas break which just starts uh december 18th with a half day and they come

150
00:13:51,136 --> 00:13:59,076
back on January 5th of 2026. Hawken Tiger news. No new news since last week. We're not plugged in

151
00:13:59,076 --> 00:14:03,496
there because we don't have kids going there anymore, but hopefully they're rocking and rolling.

152
00:14:04,396 --> 00:14:08,776
Falcon news. Looks like they had a pile of crock pots at their last day of school.

153
00:14:09,316 --> 00:14:14,916
The McTeacher night at McDonald's raised over $1,500, which is fantastic. There's only a couple

154
00:14:14,916 --> 00:14:22,156
weeks left before winter break and study guides for final exams will be issued no later than

155
00:14:22,156 --> 00:14:25,776
December 8th. So make sure your kids are on the lookout for that and that they're studying.

156
00:14:26,996 --> 00:14:34,656
The girls flag football is official in the spring and will be part of the Dixon County Middle School

157
00:14:34,656 --> 00:14:42,116
League. A home basketball game was on just on on the Monday, the first versus Thompson Station,

158
00:14:42,116 --> 00:14:47,356
December 2nd, there was the winter concert at the Fairview High School, which looked like that went well at 7 p.m.

159
00:14:47,856 --> 00:14:58,096
And the Renaissance High School open house for eighth graders is coming up on tomorrow, December 4th for the eighth graders.

160
00:14:59,136 --> 00:15:05,876
And then on December 4th, the girls will have a home game versus Heritage and the boys will be away at Heritage.

161
00:15:05,876 --> 00:15:09,636
And then on Friday, there will be a home basketball game against Columbia Academy.

162
00:15:10,156 --> 00:15:13,176
And December 15th is exam week.

163
00:15:13,276 --> 00:15:15,256
So buckle up for that.

164
00:15:15,816 --> 00:15:20,076
If you like Adidas, there's a promo code in the show notes for you to do that.

165
00:15:20,156 --> 00:15:23,536
Just like we talked about, this is also December to remember.

166
00:15:24,116 --> 00:15:30,756
So today and Monday was festive attire, then wear white clothes, then candy cane day, anything

167
00:15:30,756 --> 00:15:35,516
bright and shiny for this first week as they dress up.

168
00:15:35,516 --> 00:15:42,236

172
00:16:02,816 --> 00:16:08,016

173
00:16:08,016 --> 00:16:15,356

176
00:16:28,236 --> 00:16:29,476
at Independence High School.

177
00:16:30,416 --> 00:16:36,236
The applications for the Innovation Center will be sent on ClassLink beginning December

178
00:16:36,236 --> 00:16:39,836

And if you have a senior in high school, all their swag is on sale, so check that out.

180
00:16:47,396 --> 00:16:51,916
The ASVAB is next week, December 9th at 8 a.m. at the Learning Lab.

181
00:16:51,976 --> 00:16:55,056
If you're thinking about joining the military, this is the must-have, and it will determine

182
00:16:55,056 --> 00:16:57,416
what job you can get, so study, study, study.

183
00:16:58,236 --> 00:17:06,916
If you're an 8th to 12th grader and you're looking for something to do this winter, there's an unforgettable season expired by the Broadway musical Waitress.

184
00:17:07,336 --> 00:17:10,556
Tryouts begin November 21st, which is already past that.

185
00:17:11,556 --> 00:17:16,776
Rehearsals are now Monday through Friday, 4.30 to 7.30.

186
00:17:16,836 --> 00:17:17,996
No experience necessary.

187
00:17:19,456 --> 00:17:22,856
Tryouts for the Fairview take place at the high school.

188
00:17:23,056 --> 00:17:24,016
So we already got that.

189
00:17:25,676 --> 00:17:28,096
We already did that from last week.

190
00:17:28,236 --> 00:17:28,876
So that's good.

191
00:17:29,416 --> 00:17:39,816
And if you the the family career community leaders of America FCCLA is still has their care closet open seeking donations.

192
00:17:39,916 --> 00:17:41,556

Here's their Amazon list posted in the show notes.

194
00:17:44,176 --> 00:17:51,336
If you have a kid getting ready to drive, make sure they get the class link from the principal for the checkpoint driver training and get their parking pass.

195
00:17:52,416 --> 00:17:53,176
Faith moment.

196
00:17:53,176 --> 00:17:59,536
this sermon is from our very own One Church Home here in Fairview, Tennessee by Ian Gilchrist,

197
00:17:59,796 --> 00:18:05,136
talking about the start of Christmas and how it's the same story every year for many churches,

198
00:18:05,136 --> 00:18:12,676
but it's also the most recognized global holiday and the relevance and power of that, of us as

199
00:18:12,676 --> 00:18:18,796
Christians knowing more to the story than some others may know, but everyone recognizing this

200
00:18:18,796 --> 00:18:25,836
worldwide event. So here we go. I got to be fully transparent with you as a pastor.

201
00:18:26,096 --> 00:18:31,256
There are certain times a year that people just kind of expect you to teach about the same story

202
00:18:31,256 --> 00:18:36,256
every single year. Uh, you know, Easter and Christmas, you kind of, you're locked in,

203
00:18:36,256 --> 00:18:42,116
your topics are picked. And, um, I don't know how many times you've tried to retell a story,

204
00:18:42,116 --> 00:18:50,056
to the same group of people every single year, but, you know, I'm just not that creative.

205
00:18:50,056 --> 00:18:56,996
And so I find myself every now and then after, you know, 10, 15 years of teaching this every

206
00:18:56,996 --> 00:19:06,316
December, November, I kind of can let it get, you know, it's like a burden, so to speak. And this

207
00:19:06,316 --> 00:19:12,196
year it's just something is different and I don't know what has shifted but I have just been

208
00:19:12,196 --> 00:19:19,156
overwhelmed with excitement to talk about the same story I talk about every single year in December

209
00:19:19,156 --> 00:19:27,336
and I believe it's because there's there's just such depth and and magnitude that oftentimes gets

210
00:19:27,336 --> 00:19:33,956
lost by the repetitive nature of us hearing it there's something profound right this time of year

211
00:19:33,956 --> 00:19:38,796
everyone is aware that, you know, and some people it's bad and good. I get all that. But I'm just

212
00:19:38,796 --> 00:19:44,036
saying like, there's, there's an electricity in the air. There's a, there's an excitement in the

213
00:19:44,036 --> 00:19:49,116
air. There's, there's a desire to be together in the air. There's, there's something profound about

214
00:19:49,116 --> 00:19:55,296
the lights and the, and the fun and the decorations and all. And it's like, don't, you know, well,

215
00:19:55,456 --> 00:19:59,336
do we do the elf or do we don't do the elf? Do we have a tree? Do we, it's like, just,

216
00:19:59,336 --> 00:20:06,496
can we just like there's something beautiful happening all around us that somehow there's

217
00:20:06,496 --> 00:20:12,316
music playing everywhere we go where are the speakers at like i mean it's just like everywhere

218
00:20:12,316 --> 00:20:19,636
i walk there's just michael buble's playing it's like it's profound time of year and it's

219
00:20:19,636 --> 00:20:25,836
and it's so fascinating to me because you know i think i was talking to luke out in the lobby

220
00:20:25,836 --> 00:20:32,716
earlier it i get it like like the world has has tried to redefine christmas and we'll call it the

221
00:20:32,716 --> 00:20:36,796
holiday we won't call it christ let's take the christ out of christ i get all that but isn't it

222
00:20:36,796 --> 00:20:45,436
interesting that during this time of year everyone gets in alignment around the celebration like like

223
00:20:45,436 --> 00:20:53,036
pretty much overarching like you have this incredible reception of of celebrating and

224
00:20:53,036 --> 00:20:55,476
And bringing glory to this thing.

225
00:20:55,696 --> 00:20:58,896
And again, not everybody's doing it for the right reasons.

226
00:20:58,976 --> 00:20:59,436
I get that.

227
00:20:59,496 --> 00:21:07,416
But it kind of gives a little taste of what it might look like to hear the fulfillment of every knee will bow and every tongue confess.

228
00:21:09,096 --> 00:21:12,836
You know, I mean, you've got the most, the meanest guy on the block.

229
00:21:12,836 --> 00:21:16,676
He's at least willing to put lights on his house during Christmas time.

230
00:21:18,136 --> 00:21:19,236
Now, I get it.

231
00:21:19,276 --> 00:21:20,596
They don't have it fully understood.

232
00:21:20,896 --> 00:21:21,796
But here's the thing.

233
00:21:21,796 --> 00:21:29,796
We do. We have it all figured out. We do know why this is such a magnificent time of year,

234
00:21:30,036 --> 00:21:35,956
why it's so worthy of celebration. We know the truth, and that's what gives us hope,

235
00:21:36,036 --> 00:21:40,576
because I think at the end of the day, that's what everybody is so excited about, that there's

236
00:21:40,576 --> 00:21:46,656
hope outside of my circumstances, outside of my situation. There's hope for me,

237
00:21:46,656 --> 00:21:52,416
and and the other thing that's got me pumped up this year about this I've I work with a friend of

238
00:21:52,416 --> 00:21:57,956
mine and we we spend time together just talking about who God is he's he's growing in his faith

239
00:21:57,956 --> 00:22:02,896
and he's learning more and he's he's owning his faith and and so I asked him this question at one

240
00:22:02,896 --> 00:22:08,196
point I said hey I just want to hear from your words what do you think God is like who who is

241
00:22:08,196 --> 00:22:14,756
God what's he like and and there was a bit of a pause like I'm not sure that I know like I know

242
00:22:14,756 --> 00:22:19,596
I could tell you how to do this or that, but I'm not sure I know. And so great, let's take time,

243
00:22:19,896 --> 00:22:27,456
and each week we'll go over a different attribute or a different truth or reality about who God is

244
00:22:27,456 --> 00:22:33,376
and what he's like. And we go over these big ideas, right? Like God is omniscient. He's all-knowing.

245
00:22:33,416 --> 00:22:37,636
He knows all things, right? And I could take you about an inch deep in the philosophical

246
00:22:37,636 --> 00:22:43,376
underpinnings of that, but it's a profound reality about the magnitude of God's knowledge.

247
00:22:44,056 --> 00:22:45,536
He's omnipresent, right?

248
00:22:45,656 --> 00:22:50,596
He's all places at all times, unrestricted by space and time and dementia.

249
00:22:50,996 --> 00:22:52,696
God is everywhere always.

250
00:22:54,016 --> 00:22:57,776
That's a profound, big, magnificent idea about who God is.

251
00:22:57,776 --> 00:23:06,736
And we go through each week and we talk about some big idea about who God is to better help him understand who he is and what he's like.

252
00:23:07,456 --> 00:23:20,432
And this last week he got caught up on one of them We were talking about the self of God That God isn in need of us He not in need of you And it kind of messed him up And I think if we honest like that one can kind of mess

253
00:23:20,572 --> 00:23:22,972
What do you mean? God doesn't need us?

254
00:23:24,032 --> 00:23:25,392
And I went, no, no, no.

255
00:23:25,852 --> 00:23:28,252
Make no mistake. God has no need of us.

256
00:23:28,352 --> 00:23:32,992
He is completely self-sufficient in his triune nature.

257
00:23:33,092 --> 00:23:34,632
He has no need of humanity.

258
00:23:35,192 --> 00:23:38,712
And it was kind of like you could tell, like it was a hiccup moment.

259
00:23:38,712 --> 00:23:42,392
It's like, well, that just makes him feel distant and afraid.

260
00:23:42,512 --> 00:23:46,832
I said, but here's the magnificent thing about where we are in our calendar of the year.

261
00:23:47,032 --> 00:23:51,632
We are in a season where this self-sufficient God,

262
00:23:52,052 --> 00:23:55,072
but you can't separate that from the reality of what?

263
00:23:55,352 --> 00:23:56,252
The incarnation.

264
00:23:57,212 --> 00:24:02,092
The fact that the self-sufficient God came and dwelt among us,

265
00:24:02,512 --> 00:24:03,872
came to bring us home.

266
00:24:04,092 --> 00:24:05,212
What does that tell us?

267
00:24:05,212 --> 00:24:08,752
It tells us this truth that every one of us need to remember this Christmas season.

268
00:24:09,072 --> 00:24:11,572
God doesn't need you at all.

269
00:24:12,272 --> 00:24:13,092
He wants you.

270
00:24:15,932 --> 00:24:17,572
He desires you.

271
00:24:18,872 --> 00:24:25,092
And even though he didn't have to do it, he put on flesh for you.

272
00:24:25,772 --> 00:24:28,612
He was born in a manger for you.

273
00:24:28,912 --> 00:24:31,832
He lived a sinless life for you.

274
00:24:31,832 --> 00:24:35,332
He died on a cross for you.

275
00:24:35,952 --> 00:24:37,792
He went into the grave for you.

276
00:24:38,692 --> 00:24:40,752
And he walked out of that grave for you.

277
00:24:41,372 --> 00:24:43,792
And he ascended to the right hand of the Father for you

278
00:24:43,792 --> 00:24:47,992
that we might be able to have eternal life

279
00:24:47,992 --> 00:24:51,672
with he and the self-sufficient triune God.

280
00:24:51,932 --> 00:24:53,832
Like we have this access.

281
00:24:54,032 --> 00:24:56,692
That's what the incarnation is all about.

282
00:24:56,772 --> 00:25:00,512
And that's why Christmas is such a profound time of year.

283
00:25:00,512 --> 00:25:01,492
It's exciting.

284
00:25:01,492 --> 00:25:08,932
It's energetic. It's joy filled. Lights are going up. Music's playing. Calendars are filling. I don't

285
00:25:08,932 --> 00:25:19,372
like that part. Families gather. Memories are made. It's beautiful. It's fun. It's meaningful.

286
00:25:20,252 --> 00:25:28,052
And it tells us something about the magnificence of who our God is. It's also incredibly busy and

287
00:25:28,052 --> 00:25:28,992
Very routine.

288
00:25:30,212 --> 00:25:34,772
Does anybody have like traditions that you have to do every year through the month of December?

289
00:25:36,212 --> 00:25:39,772
Like on the second day of December, we eat at McDonald's.

290
00:25:39,772 --> 00:25:44,272
And on the fourth day, we turn our hats sideways and drink water.

291
00:25:44,512 --> 00:25:46,032
You know, it's like because we always did it.

292
00:25:46,072 --> 00:25:48,492
It's like we just have, we have this thing or that thing.

293
00:25:48,552 --> 00:25:49,792
Like there's so many things.

294
00:25:49,872 --> 00:25:51,392
There's busyness that comes.

295
00:25:51,972 --> 00:25:54,152
There's parties and celebrations and excitement.

296
00:25:54,152 --> 00:26:04,132
And what happens, at least to me, is when busyness comes, I don't tend to take time to contemplate the deeper thing, right?

297
00:26:04,252 --> 00:26:06,452
I just get it done.

298
00:26:06,632 --> 00:26:07,712
Does anybody relate to that?

299
00:26:07,792 --> 00:26:10,932
You're just a get it done when times get tough, when things get busy?

300
00:26:11,732 --> 00:26:22,332
Well, when we're just getting it done, we don't reflect on the deep meaning or the life-changing reality of what we're really here to do.

301
00:26:22,332 --> 00:26:28,072
what's really like this is our moment as the bride of Christ this is our moment

302
00:26:28,072 --> 00:26:33,372
to shine why because everybody's willing to put lights on their house but only

303
00:26:33,372 --> 00:26:42,312
Christians know why we have hope we have the answer and unlike any other time of

304
00:26:42,312 --> 00:26:48,272
year we have a voice where people are willing to hear what this hope is all

305
00:26:48,272 --> 00:26:51,552
about why do I do this why don't I'll tell you why you do it it's because

306
00:26:51,552 --> 00:26:56,412
Jesus is coming and he's coming again and you might need to get rid of that

307
00:26:56,412 --> 00:27:03,972
little pagan thing you're doing over there but like this is our moment. Let me

308
00:27:03,972 --> 00:27:09,552
be clear Christmas is not about nostalgia or tradition. Don't tell my wife

309
00:27:09,552 --> 00:27:16,392
she likes our traditions. Christmas is the single most significant world

310
00:27:16,392 --> 00:27:26,292
shifting event in the history of all of humanity unnegotiable God became man the

311
00:27:26,292 --> 00:27:33,392
infinite took on flesh the Creator stepped into his creation the invisible

312
00:27:33,392 --> 00:27:42,072
God became visible so over the next four weeks we want to take time to slow down

313
00:27:42,072 --> 00:27:47,472
down for a minute. To take time as the body of Christ inside of our house and

314
00:27:47,472 --> 00:27:52,212
say, let's, let's get some things clear for a minute. Let's, let's invoke some

315
00:27:52,212 --> 00:27:57,412
courage to, to have clarity about what really matters. Yes, the manger is the,

316
00:27:57,412 --> 00:28:04,272
is the most symbolic image icon that we have that, that, that is the gap between

317
00:28:04,272 --> 00:28:09,492
humanity, the, the self-sufficient God and the, and the incarnate one. Like this is

318
00:28:09,492 --> 00:28:20,172
is a symbol of hope. But I'm telling you Christmas is more. It's bigger than just the symbol

319
00:28:20,172 --> 00:28:29,052
of a manger. It's realizing that this is the fulfillment of God's promise. And it's the

320
00:28:29,052 --> 00:28:39,012
beginning of everything changing. Today we begin at the true beginning of

321
00:28:39,012 --> 00:28:46,912
Christmas though. It's not in Bethlehem, it's in Genesis. Pastor Shane mentioned

322
00:28:46,912 --> 00:28:52,632
it briefly in our communion talk this morning. It didn't start with the

323
00:28:52,632 --> 00:29:00,792
shepherds. It started with the prophets. It didn't start with a manger. It started

324
00:29:00,792 --> 00:29:11,952
with a promise. Before humanity ever got out of the Garden of Eden, we blew the

325
00:29:11,952 --> 00:29:18,232
whole thing up. But before we ever got out of the Garden, after sin had entered

326
00:29:18,232 --> 00:29:24,492
the world. God had already declared his plan to redeem his people. I'll take you

327
00:29:24,492 --> 00:29:28,352
back there for a moment. Humanity falls at the temptation of the serpent. Adam

328
00:29:28,352 --> 00:29:35,672
and Eve eat the fruit. They fall prey to it and sin enters the world.

329
00:29:35,672 --> 00:29:41,692
Sin becomes the separation in the chasm between a holy and righteous and

330
00:29:41,692 --> 00:29:47,932
perfect God and his beloved creation where they now have disobeyed him and

331
00:29:47,932 --> 00:29:51,832
missed the marks. Sin enters the world and I get it you think you would have done

332
00:29:51,832 --> 00:29:57,112
better I'm just guessing it would have ended the same way. But Adam and Eve they

333
00:29:57,112 --> 00:30:04,612
bring sin into the world and the chasm is created where now an imperfect unholy

334
00:30:04,612 --> 00:30:10,672
people can no longer have access to a holy and righteous God. And there's a

335
00:30:10,672 --> 00:30:14,232
there's this distance that has been created.

336
00:30:14,912 --> 00:30:20,212
In that moment, humanity, in all their wisdom and knowledge, right?

337
00:30:20,312 --> 00:30:21,952
You wouldn't have done this, but we all did.

338
00:30:22,872 --> 00:30:25,432
We came up with lots of ways we could bridge the gap.

339
00:30:25,532 --> 00:30:27,732
We could be self-righteous.

340
00:30:28,172 --> 00:30:31,292
We could perform really well, and then God will accept us.

341
00:30:31,352 --> 00:30:33,832
We can become philanthropists, and if we just give enough away,

342
00:30:34,112 --> 00:30:36,452
God will love us, and he'll then have to take us back.

343
00:30:36,452 --> 00:30:42,232
We've come up with a thousand, a million, a bajillion ways that we could get right with God.

344
00:30:42,372 --> 00:30:47,312
But there's only ever been one who could fix the problem of sin entering the world.

345
00:30:47,432 --> 00:30:49,172
And it is God himself.

346
00:30:50,492 --> 00:30:56,152
There is no work that can be done to bridge a gap between an imperfect and perfect.

347
00:30:56,292 --> 00:30:59,892
There's no bridge that can be built from the bottom to the top.

348
00:30:59,892 --> 00:31:08,112
It was always and only God who could solve this problem of the separation, the chasm that sin created.

349
00:31:08,812 --> 00:31:11,352
He's the only one who could do anything about it.

350
00:31:12,372 --> 00:31:13,952
And this is what I love about him.

351
00:31:14,232 --> 00:31:21,492
We see from the very moment it happened, he set in motion a plan of redemption.

352
00:31:22,592 --> 00:31:26,132
A promise, the first promise he ever makes.

353
00:31:26,132 --> 00:31:32,812
Genesis 3 15 it says and I God will put enmity between you and the woman and

354
00:31:32,812 --> 00:31:41,852
between your offspring and hers he the coming promise he's gonna crush your head

355
00:31:41,852 --> 00:31:51,692
and you're gonna strike his heel this text this verse in Genesis 3 15 is often

356
00:31:51,692 --> 00:31:56,972
referred to as the Proto-Evangelium. It is the first announcement of the coming

357
00:31:56,972 --> 00:32:02,732
gospel, widely accepted and widely known throughout history. This is the

358
00:32:02,732 --> 00:32:09,552
beginning of God's salvation story of humanity happening exactly when sin

359
00:32:09,552 --> 00:32:13,712
enters the world. God did not wait around to see how we were going to solve the

360
00:32:13,712 --> 00:32:20,772
problem. When the problem came, He fixed it. He began that work. He made a promise

361
00:32:20,772 --> 00:32:23,312
that someone was coming.

362
00:32:25,412 --> 00:32:27,732
It was going to be a son, a descendant,

363
00:32:28,112 --> 00:32:31,092
a savior who would crush the works of the enemy.

364
00:32:32,072 --> 00:32:35,092
Beloved, I'm arguing today that's where Christmas really starts.

365
00:32:36,192 --> 00:32:39,272
That's what shifts the Christmas story.

366
00:32:43,152 --> 00:32:46,612
With a God who refuses to let sin have the final word.

367
00:32:46,932 --> 00:32:50,732
And here's my observation to you.

368
00:32:50,772 --> 00:32:57,032
If God kept the very first promise he made the oldest promise he's ever made

369
00:32:57,492 --> 00:32:59,492
Then isn't he faithful?

370
00:32:59,932 --> 00:33:02,432
To keep the ones he's made to us

371
00:33:03,532 --> 00:33:08,392
If God set a promise in Genesis 315 it was fulfilled in

372
00:33:09,132 --> 00:33:16,792
Bethlehem all these years later was prophesied about and told about and then fulfilled in Bethlehem and then finished on the cross

373
00:33:17,172 --> 00:33:20,112
Isn't he faithful to take care of everything in between?

374
00:33:20,772 --> 00:33:27,772
This is the magnitude of what Christmas is all about.

375
00:33:27,772 --> 00:33:30,772
Is he calling?

376
00:33:30,772 --> 00:33:36,772
So he makes a promise in Genesis,

377
00:33:36,772 --> 00:33:41,772
and then he goes on this journey through the scripture

378
00:33:41,772 --> 00:33:46,772
where he starts to make prophetic announcements, descriptions,

379
00:33:46,772 --> 00:33:49,772
about who this coming Messiah would be.

380
00:33:49,772 --> 00:33:53,472
and we could go through so many different ones.

381
00:33:53,512 --> 00:33:54,592
I just want to read a few of them

382
00:33:54,592 --> 00:33:55,572
and make some observations.

383
00:33:55,712 --> 00:33:58,052
Look at the detail by which he starts to explain.

384
00:33:58,472 --> 00:33:59,572
Isaiah 7, 14.

385
00:33:59,972 --> 00:34:02,392
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign.

386
00:34:02,652 --> 00:34:04,992
The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son

387
00:34:04,992 --> 00:34:07,712
and we'll call him Emmanuel.

388
00:34:09,012 --> 00:34:12,412
So we have the prophets start to speak and to prophesy.

389
00:34:12,832 --> 00:34:15,932
This Messiah is going to have a virgin birth.

390
00:34:15,932 --> 00:34:17,432
He's going to be named Emmanuel,

391
00:34:17,672 --> 00:34:19,512
which is to say God with us.

392
00:34:19,772 --> 00:34:26,012
He starts giving descriptive and even prescriptive characteristics and

393
00:34:26,012 --> 00:34:34,212
qualities and details about the coming Messiah. All connected to the promise he

394
00:34:34,212 --> 00:34:39,452
made in Genesis 3 15. He goes on we can look at Micah 5 it says, but you Bethlehem

395
00:34:39,452 --> 00:34:44,532
Eparath, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come from

396
00:34:44,532 --> 00:35:02,248
One who will be ruler over Israel whose origins are from old and from ancient times This Messiah would be born in Bethlehem It a small unknown town All of this being described years and years lifetimes before

397
00:35:02,248 --> 00:35:11,368
it ever was going to happen. Yet his origin would be eternal. Isaiah 9, 6, and 7. We've heard this

398
00:35:11,368 --> 00:35:17,528
many times. For unto us a child is born. To us a son is given. The government will be upon his

399
00:35:17,528 --> 00:35:23,788
shoulders and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

400
00:35:24,128 --> 00:35:30,348
Of the greatness of his government, the peace there will be no end. Think about the details that

401
00:35:30,348 --> 00:35:36,248
that's giving us about him. Just these specific details about this coming Messiah. This child

402
00:35:36,248 --> 00:35:42,468
would not just be human. He would be a mighty God. He would be a wonderful counselor. The government

403
00:35:42,468 --> 00:35:49,068
would indeed sit upon his shoulders and in his reign would know no end. All of these,

404
00:35:50,368 --> 00:35:55,068
from the moment he made a promise through the prophets, he's speaking and he's building

405
00:35:55,068 --> 00:36:04,228
this prophetic mosaic of who would be the one to come. And we could go on and on. I could spend

406
00:36:04,228 --> 00:36:09,388
all day looking at the different thing. He's going to come on a donkey, right? He's going to ride in

407
00:36:09,388 --> 00:36:14,028
on a donkey. That was prophesied about. I mean, everything from the way he was going to look,

408
00:36:14,088 --> 00:36:20,768
the things he was going to be. There are so many different details that would be shared about,

409
00:36:20,828 --> 00:36:28,988
would be talked about. Hundreds of these prophecies form this prophetic mosaic, describing in detail

410
00:36:28,988 --> 00:36:30,628
who was coming to what?

411
00:36:30,908 --> 00:36:34,908
Fulfill Genesis chapter 3 verse 15.

412
00:36:37,348 --> 00:36:40,248
And so then it goes,

413
00:36:40,688 --> 00:36:42,308
or we have to then look at

414
00:36:42,308 --> 00:36:45,228
what is the likelihood

415
00:36:45,228 --> 00:36:49,068
that Jesus would be the one to fulfill them?

416
00:36:50,108 --> 00:36:52,668
This is something that should concrete

417
00:36:52,668 --> 00:36:54,508
and put in real,

418
00:36:54,988 --> 00:36:56,648
like it should lock into your brain.

419
00:36:56,648 --> 00:37:03,028
like I'm more confident that Jesus is the fulfillment of Genesis 3 15 than I am that my

420
00:37:03,028 --> 00:37:11,248
name is Ian Gilchrist. I have more data and fact that Jesus is the fulfillment of that than I have

421
00:37:11,248 --> 00:37:16,968
that I'm even standing here in Fairview, Tennessee right now. That like this is not something that we

422
00:37:16,968 --> 00:37:21,928
hope. This is not something that we we kind of well if you massage it this way it kind of fits

423
00:37:21,928 --> 00:37:28,348
in or we just stuff it down in the bag. It'll finally fit. Like Jesus is the defined fulfillment

424
00:37:28,348 --> 00:37:40,648
of all these prophecies. If you add them all up, I think it's 300. That's 300 different times.

425
00:37:41,028 --> 00:37:45,808
There's a prophecy given talking about the coming Messiah, 300 different times.

426
00:37:46,728 --> 00:37:55,628
There's a professor, older fella, out at the City College of Pasadena.

427
00:37:55,748 --> 00:38:01,088
He's the chair of astronomy and mathematics.

428
00:38:02,148 --> 00:38:04,408
So he has the side of the brain that I don't have.

429
00:38:05,988 --> 00:38:07,328
He's the chair of that.

430
00:38:08,188 --> 00:38:10,248
His name is Professor Stoner.

431
00:38:10,248 --> 00:38:18,188
Professor Stoner being a mathematician by trade and an astronomer,

432
00:38:18,348 --> 00:38:20,728
he's literally like a rocket scientist.

433
00:38:21,088 --> 00:38:28,828
He thought it'd be fun to figure out how difficult and probable it would be

434
00:38:28,828 --> 00:38:35,508
that Jesus fulfilled all these prophecies.

435
00:38:36,268 --> 00:38:37,788
I don't know why I'm talking like that.

436
00:38:38,708 --> 00:38:42,248
So he wanted to do the math and figure out what it would be like.

437
00:38:42,348 --> 00:38:49,428
What is the quantifiable, measurable number of what the chances would be,

438
00:38:49,508 --> 00:38:53,508
the statistical likelihood that one person could fulfill all 300?

439
00:38:53,748 --> 00:38:55,668
He started doing the math and he went, that's impossible.

440
00:38:55,788 --> 00:38:57,928
You can't even get that big of a number.

441
00:38:58,668 --> 00:39:00,688
So he said, all right, let's just go to eight.

442
00:39:01,648 --> 00:39:05,048
And he took eight of the prophecies and said,

443
00:39:05,048 --> 00:39:12,928
What is the likelihood that Jesus was the fulfillment of just eight of the 300 prophecies that he did fulfill?

444
00:39:13,168 --> 00:39:18,028
What is the likelihood that we could say concretely that guy is the Messiah?

445
00:39:18,108 --> 00:39:19,108
He is the fulfillment of all.

446
00:39:20,368 --> 00:39:21,608
He did the math.

447
00:39:22,408 --> 00:39:23,668
And it comes out to something.

448
00:39:23,748 --> 00:39:24,408
Let me just read it.

449
00:39:24,448 --> 00:39:25,628
I'll mess it up if I try to say it.

450
00:39:26,288 --> 00:39:29,888
One in ten to the 17th power.

451
00:39:29,888 --> 00:39:38,968
that's one with 17 zeros after it i don't know about you mathematicians i don't know if that's

452
00:39:38,968 --> 00:39:43,628
like a google or an oogle or a billion or a jillion but like that's a bunch

453
00:39:43,628 --> 00:39:49,708
wouldn't you like to wake up tomorrow to that in the bank account you know it's like

454
00:39:49,708 --> 00:39:53,548
100 babilion you know i don't know

455
00:39:53,548 --> 00:40:06,508
one and 10 to the 17th power that's the statistical odds that one person could fulfill

456
00:40:06,508 --> 00:40:16,968
just eight of the 300 prophecies that jesus fulfills in detail that puts an aggregate under

457
00:40:16,968 --> 00:40:26,628
our feet that says we have something of validity here. We have a real king who's really come and is

458
00:40:26,628 --> 00:40:34,508
the fulfillment of what was told in Genesis chapter 3 verse 15. And if Jesus is that, what, like, how do

459
00:40:34,508 --> 00:40:39,708
you even quantify that kind of number though? Right? Like for me, when I look at that, I just kind of,

460
00:40:39,828 --> 00:40:43,368
my brain just, you know, you ever have that moment where you're talking to your kids and you know they

461
00:40:43,368 --> 00:40:49,688
check out because like the lights just go off. Has anybody ever had that experience? Thank you for

462
00:40:49,688 --> 00:40:57,028
being honest. If I try to quantify like what is this? How much is that? I can't get there.

463
00:40:58,188 --> 00:41:04,008
So Dr. Stoner, Professor Stoner, he understood that we were not all mathematicians and he said,

464
00:41:04,068 --> 00:41:09,908
all right, I'm going to give you an illustration to help you understand how big of a number that is.

465
00:41:09,908 --> 00:41:11,608
Has anybody been to Texas?

466
00:41:14,528 --> 00:41:15,728
God bless you.

467
00:41:16,008 --> 00:41:17,468
You know, no, it's good.

468
00:41:17,528 --> 00:41:18,208
Texas is great.

469
00:41:18,388 --> 00:41:19,988
It's awesome.

470
00:41:20,128 --> 00:41:20,708
It's huge.

471
00:41:21,988 --> 00:41:22,868
Massive place.

472
00:41:24,388 --> 00:41:26,408
It's hard to believe.

473
00:41:26,708 --> 00:41:30,608
You know, my friend Luke and I, we were just had a wild hair one time.

474
00:41:30,688 --> 00:41:34,888
Our flights got canceled and we drove across the country to go on a trip together.

475
00:41:34,948 --> 00:41:35,488
It was amazing.

476
00:41:35,588 --> 00:41:36,228
We had an awesome time.

477
00:41:36,228 --> 00:41:41,288
and coming home, we drove from all the way up the peak of West Texas and all the way through.

478
00:41:41,628 --> 00:41:49,088
And it was like awful. It just keeps going and going. And you're like, finally, you get to Dallas

479
00:41:49,088 --> 00:41:54,768
and you're like, yep, halfway there. It's like, what? Like this is, it's unbelievably big. And

480
00:41:54,768 --> 00:42:01,028
the magnitude of Texas is huge. You could be San Antonio and Houston and then Dallas. I mean,

481
00:42:01,048 --> 00:42:04,128
it's just all these different places. And West Texas is like its own country.

482
00:42:06,228 --> 00:42:13,108
And if you took the state of Texas and you covered it in silver dollars,

483
00:42:13,428 --> 00:42:19,688
every square inch, you took every square inch of Texas,

484
00:42:19,688 --> 00:42:21,188
covered it in silver dollars,

485
00:42:21,568 --> 00:42:26,068
the amount of silver dollars to get to that number we were just talking about

486
00:42:26,068 --> 00:42:31,988
would cover every inch of the state 18 inches deep.

487
00:42:31,988 --> 00:42:39,108
and the likelihood of the fulfillment of Christ Jesus being the fulfillment of just eight prophecies

488
00:42:39,108 --> 00:42:46,968
would be like me taking one of you blindfolding you then taking another one of you and saying

489
00:42:46,968 --> 00:42:51,688
mark an x on one of these silver dollars and hide it anywhere you want

490
00:42:51,688 --> 00:42:58,948
cover the whole state go as deep as you want and then take this poor soul and walk them out there

491
00:42:58,948 --> 00:43:01,508
and say, you've got one shot.

492
00:43:04,828 --> 00:43:07,288
Blindfolded, walk around as long as you can

493
00:43:07,288 --> 00:43:10,268
and find the Mark coin.

494
00:43:12,168 --> 00:43:15,848
That's how statistically improbable it would be

495
00:43:15,848 --> 00:43:19,028
to just, for one person to be the fulfillment

496
00:43:19,028 --> 00:43:21,048
of eight of the prophecies.

497
00:43:21,048 --> 00:43:23,788
He fulfilled 300.

498
00:43:24,928 --> 00:43:26,688
That should give you some confidence

499
00:43:26,688 --> 00:43:31,288
that this Jesus that we worship, this King of glory that we celebrate,

500
00:43:31,588 --> 00:43:35,808
this one we pray to and we look upon, there's no question.

501
00:43:36,608 --> 00:43:41,968
There's zero doubt that he is the fulfillment of Genesis 3, verse 15.

502
00:43:41,968 --> 00:43:49,728
Therefore making him God incarnate and God who is with us.

503
00:43:51,048 --> 00:43:54,308
It's not a myth. It's not lucky timing.

504
00:43:54,888 --> 00:43:59,208
It's the faithful fulfillment of God's prophetic word toward humanity.

505
00:43:59,888 --> 00:44:00,848
Welcome back.

506
00:44:01,028 --> 00:44:02,628
I hope you learned a couple things.

507
00:44:02,628 --> 00:44:19,168
The illustration of trying to find a single marked silver dollar across the whole state of Texas stacked 216 deep when it comes to the prophecies filled by Jesus, just eight of them that one of the researchers did.

508
00:44:19,328 --> 00:44:23,748
I suggest listening to the rest of this because he does a great job of setting things up.

509
00:44:23,748 --> 00:44:29,848
for the detail, more details coming soon as the manger story keeps going as we get closer and

510
00:44:29,848 --> 00:44:37,028
closer to Christmas. Donations. On the donations fronts, nothing new from Fountain. We will have

511
00:44:37,028 --> 00:44:44,548
other payment systems set up later within there, but if you are on the Fountain app and you click

512
00:44:44,548 --> 00:44:49,468
donate or boost, it will do it and do all that. And there's also monthly supporter options for

513
00:44:49,468 --> 00:44:54,908
three dollars and fifty cents um and there you know we've been doing a lot of website updates

514
00:44:54,908 --> 00:44:59,328
on the church business link and obviously keeping the calendar up to date which we just finished

515
00:44:59,328 --> 00:45:06,268
all the uh fairview high school wrestling schedule because that was posted uh so we appreciate that

516
00:45:06,268 --> 00:45:12,768
and if you'd like to make a donation uh just send one along and we'll be here uh be a producer uh

517
00:45:12,768 --> 00:45:17,988
i hope some of this show and share it with others and let people know that there's some news out

518
00:45:17,988 --> 00:45:24,308
here, whether you just want to share the website so that they can see it or they can hear it with

519
00:45:24,308 --> 00:45:27,828
the podcast link. I need to catch up on some social media things, but we're getting some of

520
00:45:27,828 --> 00:45:33,528
that cooking and wrapping up. Thank you. If you found this podcast helpful, thank you. Please

521
00:45:33,528 --> 00:45:38,688
support this show with your times, talents, or treasure. If you have any ideas or suggestions,

522
00:45:38,688 --> 00:45:42,268
please share it with us. Use the contact form. You are a producer of this show. You're part of

523
00:45:42,268 --> 00:45:44,848
You're not just a product from there.

524
00:45:46,048 --> 00:45:49,868
Talent, if you have any skills that might help the show or help February, let us know.

525
00:45:50,328 --> 00:45:52,588
And that could be news and all kinds of stuff.

526
00:45:53,068 --> 00:45:58,648
Treasure, if you're receiving any value from this product, please let us reciprocate that

527
00:45:58,648 --> 00:46:01,528
because you're getting this product for free without any paid advertisement.

528
00:46:02,108 --> 00:46:05,688
And you're getting truly local news that you will not hear from anywhere else.

529
00:46:06,148 --> 00:46:09,068
And if that's worth something, please consider supporting us financially

530
00:46:09,068 --> 00:46:10,988
and using the value value system.

531
00:46:10,988 --> 00:46:13,408
So we can do more because I have a lot of big plans,

532
00:46:13,648 --> 00:46:17,148
but with $0, it's hard to do more than just this.

533
00:46:17,328 --> 00:46:21,068
So please follow us on social media at hellofairview.com.

534
00:46:21,168 --> 00:46:23,868
A lot more things are coming and y'all have a great day

535
00:46:23,868 --> 00:46:25,888
and a blessed holiday season.

536
00:46:26,008 --> 00:46:26,368
Thank y'all.
