EP: 32 "Bowie is Back!!!!”

Welcome to Episode 32 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here in Fairview, for people in Fairview, TN, and the surrounding areas. This is a weekly show, released every Wednesday, featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire. Local Radio stations and newspapers don’t exist in small towns like ours, so we will use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview. This is a Value for Value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value you receive. This concept was founded by the PodFather himself, Adam Curry, and his Co-host, John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show, over 18 years ago.
Currently, this is a one-man operation, so if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, or job openings, please don't hesitate to let me know. Use the contact form on the website, and we will work to get updates into the next episode. You are a producer of this show; you are not the product, because your time and attention are not being sold to advertisers for their value. Some shows will be longer, others shorter, and I'll keep things relevant.
Traffic Time
Construction Busy, where you can wait 5-20 minutes in the morning and the afternoon to make a left and sometimes a right turn on 100 from Old Cox to the Rec Center. The sidewalk project is from Bowie Park to the Rec Center. The road closures have also been further down towards the Rec Center and School, as those drains are installed. There have been a lot of problems with school pickup times, as they are not done before 230, when things start getting busy. It’s truly Luck of the draw if there is a lane closure each day on 100, good luck!
Redlight Update – We currently still have five (Old Cox, Publix, Walmart, 2 at I-40). Still, we will soon be getting one at the new City Center Entrance and at the Cumberland and 100 intersections when that expansion occurs. I’m not sure how it will help or hurt yet, but I hope the crossing guard can manage it during the morning and evening school rush hours.
City Center – They are digging over there again near the road, which appears to still be some utility work, and with the mountain of fill dirt in the back, it will be a while before we see something cool happen. There are now some traffic counters as we head towards and away from City Center for a traffic study, I’m guessing.

The State of TN (Not In Order)
1. 3rd attempted assassination of President Trump, July 13, 2024, Butler, PA, September 15, 2024, Palm Beach, FL, and now April 25, 2026, in Washington, DC, at the correspondents' dinner. Crazy Times, not TN News, but it is relevant and affects us when there is this type of political violence anywhere.
2. Tennessee’s disaster response fund will receive less than half of the $100 million one-time investment proposed by Gov. Bill Lee after state lawmakers scaled back program funding in the final budget for Fiscal Year 2027.
3. Stand your Group Law – Persons and Property - Supporters argue the bill empowers law-abiding citizens to protect their property, while critics fear it will lead to unnecessary escalation and violence. If signed, Tennessee would join Texas as the only other state to explicitly permit lethal force in defense of property. SB1847 passed both chambers in the Tennessee General Assembly.
4. The Fairgrounds Race Track is up for grabs now, with the “Restore the Fairgrounds” coalition having re-filed an amendment petition to ban racing from the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and add affordable housing. When we see soft words like this that aren’t honest about their goals, it doesn’t feel good. This reminds me of the “Should the constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?”
5. Tennessee's average daily attendance per student dropped from $13,465 to $12,147 between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 academic years. That’s a 9.8 percent decrease, which also placed Tennessee 51st among all states for the largest one-year decline. The state’s ranking slipped by four spots from 47th last year. Tennessee lagged behind its neighboring states. Mississippi and Alabama, for example, each spend about $2,000 more per public school student and came 45th and 43rd nationwide, respectively. (~900,000 Students + 2k Per = $1,800,000,000.00)
The Bills
Nothing on the Schedule for next week, or even the next week, but something on the Schedule for May 13th for the Fiscal Review and May 14th for the State Building Commission.
Need to just have both of these up at the same time and scroll through them. Would be interesting because they both have to list metrics on each other to justify the need that way, along with public support, and to show there is a gap in medical care.

Then three for lease at : 1707, 2305, and 2332 Fairview Blvd.

Faith Moment
This week, I was listening to the Podcast “We Get to do this” on the Godcaster App with Pastor Jimmy Pruitt from The Bridge Church in Fredericksburg, Texas, that you may have heard highlighted before on the show, and his co-host, Adam Curry. This is them talking about everything going on, their faith journey, and looking at things from a Christian point of view. This week, they highlighted a Glen Beck episode on his new “American Story” show, and I hadn’t heard about it until this week, but now I’m starting to go through things since there are just 10 episodes in so far.
Welcome back. I hope you learned a little bit about the Edwards Church, the Salem Witch Trials, and the Great Awakening (Revival), which are all related. I have only heard about the Salem Witch Trials from some movies, along with a couple of mentions about how it was just mass hysteria that went too far. We can see some parallels in our modern social media world and how hyper focus and how things can get over amplified and can even turn to violence, which shows itself politically but also on so many other groupings of people, too. So please just pray on this hysteria to stop now, as it finally did back then in Salem. Then there was another thing on praying and salvation they talked about, along with a clip from Theo Von about how he has been struggling, trying to figure out how to pray and change his behavior, and how he doesn’t feel like he is doing it right.
Welcome back again, I hope that little bit helped. There is a lot more there, but there are some language and other topics he gets into that aren’t ok for this family show we are making here. Please listen. We need to know that there are many people in the public space who are now coming out about their faith, and he is just another example of someone who has battled addiction and had a rough road to where they are, like even Jelly Roll, but also understanding they are not perfect and that they still struggle, and that’s part of life. I hope this resonates with some who are struggling, but I wanted to just bounce these two clips I heard this week from the “We get to do this” podcast, and then listen to the whole thing to get the full context and start learning more. We are never done learning.
Lastly, I wanted to pull a piece from King Charles speech at Congress on religion and Christianity and how it’s an anchor. Let’s get it.
Welcome back for the last time, I promise. I thought this was good to see. Then this was even brought up a couple of days later because King Charles got the Democrats to stand, but Trump has never been able to do that in his now 5 years of doing this. The Trump administration has put a lot more prayer publicly than any administration I have ever seen in my adult life, and I think it's great. Is the administration perfect? Nope, far from it, but they are at least trying to do things that will be better for our kids and grandkids in the future and be mindful of our founding principles, too.

Donations
On the Donations front, nothing new from Fountain. We will have other payment options soon; just waiting for the taxman stuff to finish. We covered Fountain and Stripe Setup in the last episode, so a Donate button lets you use your Credit Card and other Payment methods through Stripe.
A monthly Supporter option is available for just $3.50. If you haven’t seen the website, please take a look. A lot has been added since last week, and I think you will find it helpful, including the calendar, Church and Business List, and more. We will announce your first name or business name if you become a monthly supporter or make a donation of $19.59 or more, unless you include a note stating not to be anonymous (e.g., 'The year we were incorporated'). I hope some business people will support this to make it even better! Be a producer, subscribe, and share with others about this Podcast to help get the news out to everyone in Fairview. I need to catch up on social media to get the word out, but I’m prioritizing the website and payments first.
