EP2: Yaaa, The 2025 Annual Address

EP2: Yaaa, The 2025 Annual Address

This is the Fairview, TN News from Sept 17-25th, 2025.

Howdy

Welcome to Episode 2 of Hello Fairview, your local podcast made right here in Fairview, for people in Fairview and the surrounding areas.  This will be a weekly show, released every Wednesday, featuring stories that aim to inform and inspire.  Local Radio stations don’t exist in small towns like ours, so we will use Hello Fairview to fill that void with news related to Fairview.  This is a Value for Value podcast, which means you contribute what you can based on the value you receive.  This concept was founded by the PodFather himself, Adam Curry, and his Co-host, John C. Dvorak of the No Agenda Show, almost 18 years ago.

Currently, this is a one-man operation, so if you have any ideas, events, business opportunities, or job openings, please don't hesitate to let me know.  You are a producer of this show; you are not the product, because your time and attention are not being sold to advertisers for value.  Some shows will be longer, and others will be shorter, but I will do my best to keep things relevant.

School Updates from James Golden –  They are focused on the students and family and making sure we don’t leave students behind.   Fairview High is in the Top 10% of School (US News). We have had a growth in Fairview High from 80 in 2024 to 2025 130 students in 2025.  16 Students earned an associate's degree from Columbia State for Engineering Systems Technologies (Mechatronics). Fairview’s average ACT score is 21.3, and Tennessee’s is 19.3. AP Classes are going great (616 Tests Taken, 357 Tests Passed). It Ain’t easy, but it is a good motivator.

Talked about Capacity that both Elementary Schools and the High and Middle Schools still have room to grow without expansion.

Mayor Anderson:

Discussed growth and partnerships with TDOT to install lights at 96. Mentioned the Little League World Series. They are planning to add more hotels in their 2040 plan. Talked about the 2040 plan and the need for an economic development officer to attract businesses. Highlighted that Brentwood and Franklin are built out, but we're still growing, so people are looking here. Covered the urban growth area and explained that annexation requires a request; also praised our City Hall and the police force, thanks to Chief Zack Humphreys. Clarified that the police department was never meant to be in the basement next to the Justice Center. Mentioned the new fire station, noting that 3000 homes are on the books to be built, mostly on that side of town. She also discussed the ISO rating for the new fire hall, which helps keep insurance rates low and benefits property owners. Talked about Bowie Park's 700 acres, five lakes, new playground, and 20-30k visitors each month. Highlighted Nature Fest with 90 vendors and an expected 12-15k attendees. Mentioned the Shop with a Cop fundraiser by the Fairview Police Department to help kids buy clothes and essentials. Emphasized Fairview's appreciation for veterans, with a Veterans Day Celebration at the high school, including the Table Ceremony, and the tradition of handing out challenge coins during the 4th of July. She shared how her kids, other children, and programs like Captstone help all students.  Also discussed some projects at Horn Tavern, including the pump station, which cost $9 million, as per Dickson Water.  Talked about https://www.lazestar.com/ coming to Fairview and how she was able, along with the team, to convince them to go to Fairview over Hickman County because we are 30 minutes away from about everything, and this happened because of a Water Board Meeting.  Talked about the GNRC meetings and found out that since we are rural communities, there are storm water grants that could help. Spoke about the training range for the police and how they listened, and we found some new property in Hickman County, and it will help both.

The Bills

I wanted to do the same thing for TN political news, but a lot of the information is difficult to search because you need to know the text of the bill or the bill number.  I’m able to see the schedule of some of the committees. I will call the clerk before the next show to determine how to locate the bills that are coming up for a vote so that I can provide a quick weekly update on their status.

How’s the hill, weather report

Back to it, How’s the hill?  Passable,  with highs around 77 each day next week and some chance of rain from the weather guessers but the most important part we will hopefully keep seeing lowest in the high to mid 50s.

New Businesses

Lavender Nail Spa is now open in the new Fairview Commons strip mall, alongside Papa John’s and eventually Cornerstone Financial. Still an open slot at Bowie Commons at Publix.  Other than that, I spotted nothing new this week, and I'm waiting to see what else is coming.

Make sure to head to the Farmers Market every Saturday Morning at Meseck Chiropractor and Fairview Fresh Deli for their life-changing Apple Fritters, located down the road from Publix.  So many good places to get fresh food, fruits, and vegetables, along with some beef, hot sauce, fishing lures, and Peruvian items.

Job Oppenins

History Nugget

While Fairview may not have the extensive historical footprint of nearby Franklin, it boasts its own unique heritage. A central landmark preserving this history is the Historical Village, situated at the intersection of Highway 100 and Deer Ridge Road.

The Village’s centerpiece is the Triangle School, a three-room educational facility constructed in 1938 and opened in January 1939. It served students in grades 1 through 8 and functioned as a community hub. During World War II, it also operated as a cannery. The site also includes the original 1858 Jingo Post Office and the Boone Street Medical Clinic.

Faith Moment

Sometimes, during the faith moment, each show may feature something from me or a sermon I've heard that is relevant.  This week's episode, from Pastor Jimmy Pruitt on September 14th, discusses his daily writing practice, which he shares each day, and this one focuses on Charlie Kirk and the seed that has been planted.  I also heard a couple of clips about people discussing whether your Christian-based church didn’t talk about Charlie Kirk; you may want to consider looking at another church that does.  This was an assassination of free speech and many core Christian values.
